Blurred Lines 1: CHASE -
Chapter 41
-Chase
F*****g déjà vu. That's what this is, right?
Back at Montiero Holdings, I've had an iron hold on the urge to grab Sofia and make her submit to me. One look at her and my resolve crumbled like a sand castle swept by the waves.
I told her this could be whatever she wanted it to be.
She wanted it casual, or I assumed she did, but f**k... I thought I could look at her and not think about unholy. things I'd like to do to her.
Like a magnet, my eyes kept drifting toward Sofia during the entire interview with The Rio Bulletin. Contentment crammed my chest seeing the jealousy on her face while she watched Hillary and me talk casually.
I know jealousy when I see it, and she was damn good at controlling her emotions than I was. When I saw Rafa talking to her, I prepared myself for damage contro Rafa can twist every situation in his favor without looking like the villain in the story. And I am right. The evidence is right in front of me.
My molars grind, watching someone else wrap an arm around Sofia's waist. I waited for Sofia's reaction, but when she didn't pull away or, better yet, slap him, my patience snapped.
She's mine. No one can have her but me. She needs to know that, and I'll make sure she never forgets who owns her.
Like a deer caught in the headlights, Sofia's big blue eyes swirled with the turmoil of emotions as she gazed at me. Confusion, hate, annoyance, but beneath all those layers of vexed emotions was a relief. Some sentences are incomplete if you are not reading this novel on FindNovel.net. First, I need to get rid of the nuisance.
"Where the fuck have you been?" I asked, taking a swig of my bourbon. I was two seconds away from snapping that guy's neck.
Sofia patted the guy's arm. He finally released her hand and let her through. I must admit, I applaud his quick reflexes in protecting Sofia at the first sound of threat. His movements were fast and precise, shielding her with his body.
"Out," she said, tipping her chin defiantly as she switched the lights on. Warm white light bathed the living
room.
"I forgot that we have to discuss plans for tomorrow's event," she faced the guy I assumed was Andre.
He glanced at me, eyes narrowing. I glared back, challenging him to make another comment about me being
here.
He looked down at Sofia, gaze softening as he smiled. "I'll see you on Sunday," he said.
I huffed. The fuck I'll let her come with him anywhere. I won't let this night go by without Sofia knowing who she belongs to.
"Sure," Sofia nodded. She stiffened when Andre bent and kissed her cheeks.
I suppressed the urge to wipe that smug smile on his face as he turned and left Sofia standing by the door. She took a deep breath and closed the door.
"Why are you here, Chase, and how did you even get in?" she asked, ambling tiredly through the entry. She walked past me and headed straight for the fridge, pulling out a water canister. She paused, gasping "Did you buy all of these?" she murmured accusingly, as if I had violated her privacy. Technically, I did, but I had good intentions.
I dropped by the grocery before coming here and bought replenishments for her kitchen. She only had supplies for two days last I was here.
I remained silent as her eyes dropped to the cloche at the breakfast bar. She lifted it and gnawed her lip, eyes, traipsing over my face.
"What is this?" her voice rose. That is not the reaction I was expecting. "I don't need you to buy me groceries.
I can do that on my own, and I don't need you cooking dinner for me, Chase. We f****d, and we had fun. That does not give you the license to come into my place uninvited and act like we have something going on," she fired, nose flaring.
Her attitude triggered my temper to explode. I finished my drink and reached for the bottle, refilling my glass. I had to keep my anger under control. "That's it, Sofia? 'We f****d, and we had fun?"
She pursed her lips, eyes slanting. "What should it be, huh?" She challenged. "How much do I owe you?"
My eyes twitched, offended. A little thank you was all I needed. I cooked for her, waited for her to come home, and this is what I got?
Shaking my head, I downed the content of my glass and slammed it on the counter, nearly breaking it to pieces. "Forget about it," I said, rounding the breakfast bar. I grabbed my jacket draped on the couch and headed for the door, twisting the knob. "Chase..." Sofia called, her voice small and apologetic. "Wait."
I kept my back on her, my fist clenching and unclenching
"I'm sorry. I just, I don't know why you're here... that you were here," the confusion in her voice thawed my anger. I was still fuming from what I saw, from her rant, but I could never be mad at her for long. Even when we talked over the phone on Wednesday, I was hurt by what she insinuated, but I understand. She's as confused as I am.
Heaving a sigh, I faced her. She chewed her lip, rubbing her left arm with her right hand, a gesture she did when she was confused, not knowing what to do.
"I thought you hated me..." she murmured, "... and I thought you'd take Hillary home, so I went out with Andre." My brows creased. Hillary? She's not even my type. I can smell Rafa's touch all over this situation. I will fucking kill that moron.
"You were jealous, is that it?" I asked, suppressing the pleasure of knowing how she felt.
"What?" her eyes widened. "No... Why would I be?"
I tilt my head to the side. She's such a poor liar.
"We are nothing, right?" she continued, dropping her gaze to the floor.
My anger resurfaced ten folds. I was in front of her in five strides, gripping her jaw. She gasped, surprised by my actions, but I didn't let her speak another word and slammed my lips on hers. Her lips were parted, allowing me to deepen the kiss easily. Sofia groaned, fisting the sleeves of my shirt. She pushed me away, squirming from my hold, but I looped an arm around her waist, not allowing air to get between our bodies.
I teased her tongue, grunting at her sweet taste. Cranberries and chocolates. She slowly melted in my arms, giving up the fight. She started to pull me closer, scaling my arms with her hands and wrapping them around my neck.
I bit her lower lip, tugging it, eliciting a satisfied moan from Sofia.
"Does this feel like nothing?" I asked, caging her with my body on the counter, rubbing my c**k on her hip bone.
She whimpered, gripping my hair as I kissed her jawline down the columns of her neck. My hand wandered down her perky ass, squeezing both cheeks as I lifted her on the counter, settling my body between her legs. "Answer me, Sofia," I groaned against her neck, her scent driving me wild: But I have to keep my shit together. "This is wrong..." she whined as I cupped her b****t, kneading. both. "You are my client."
I growled against her throat and gripped the neckline of her shirt, ripping it apart. The small buttons of her top flew all over the kitchen, hitting the floor, counter, and I might have heard one hit the glass.
I pulled away from her, making sure her eyes were on me. "Forget about all that for two fucking seconds and tell me you don't want me. Tell me you're okay seeing me with someone else, Sofia." "Chase..." she whispered, contemplating.
I consider my next words. Given the events before tonight and my history with women..... I can't claim her like a fucking caveman, no matter how much I want to own her. I need to earn her trust, that she's not just another notch on my bedpost.
"I can't think straight when I'm around you, and I go crazy when you're not with me. That doesn't make any sense, but you... Seeing you with Andre..." I shake my head, anger gripping my throat as I remember how he almost kissed her. I couldn't breathe. "Tell me you don't want me. Tell me to walk away and I will."
