Blurred Lines 1: CHASE -
Chapter 92
Chase
My day started out fine, excellent even. I woke up with Sofia trailing wet, sensual kisses down my torso. Waking up with her lips around my dk was my favorite kind of alarm clock. It kept me energized all day more than straight black coffee does.
It's amazing how after all these years, she can still make me come like a fcking hormonal teenager with her mouth and hands alone. No complaints on my part, though. And don't even get me started with her p***y. She straddled me and rode my d**k like a fukcing pro, milking me dry as if it were the last time we'd ever f**k.
We showered together, of course, that ended in a shower quickie too. We made plans for tonight since it's Mom's schedule to have Elise for a sleepover. Dinner out, a short trip to the night market, and I plan to keep her up all night.
What's sleep, anyway? We only get a few nights alone at home every month.
After the three of us had breakfast, a golden rule Sofia made sure we followed breakfast and dinner as a family I left the house in high spirits.
On workdays, I park my Jeep in front of the house. I was lazy that way. I found a folded paper trapped on the wiper. 'Oakwood' was inscribed in boody red ink. The writing was messy, almost like it was done by a toddler. Teenagers in this neighborhood loved to play crazy pranks all the time, so I crumpled the paper and threw it in the trash.
I was still in an ecstatic mood through lunchtime. Rafa and I just closed a deal with Mr. Torres, a condominium owner in Miami. Sure, his building's location wasn't as strategic as Carrey's place, and our marketing team will double their efforts in selling the place. We will take the place down and build a new one. The discount we get will go entirely to the construction expense, but with thorough studying of that location, the return on investment will double in five years. "Got errands for me this afternoon?" Rafa asked once we were back in the office..
"We'll speak with Anthony," I replied, halting in front of Regina's desk. I handed the agreement to my
secretary. "Give this to Harry," I instructed her. Harry was the head of Montiero Holding's legal team. "And get me Anthony on Zoom."
Regina nodded. "You closed the deal, sir?" she inquired, smoothing a hand down her green floral dress before clutching the manila envelope.
"Yes. Thank you for your hard work, Regina," I commended her. She did excellent research about Torres.
Out of all the applicants for the secretary position, Regina had the least experience. We hired her fresh out of college, with only her on-the-job training as her background. But something about her made me trust she'd do well with her job. It was the way she handled herself. She was timid, dressed in granny dresses, and wore round oversized eyeglasses, but when asked about her drive to wake up every morning, she said it was for her daughter. Being a parent to Elise opened my eyes to how hard it must be to become a single parent.
A pink blush blanketed Regina's cheek. Lowering her eyes on her desk, she murmured a quiet thank you. "I was only doing my job, Sir," she added. "Still. Excellent work. Keep it up."
"Yes, Sir." She fidgeted behind her desk.
Rafa followed me into my office, heading straight for the minibar. I frowned, watching him empty his glass, then pour a healthy amount into it again. "What's up?" I asked casually, opening my computer. While it boots, I join Rafa at the minibar.
He grabbed me a rock glass and filled it with amber liquid. It was too early to drink, but I guess we're celebrating. At least I was. Rafa seemed out of it in the meeting.
"Saw this," he pulled out his phone. It was Georgia's Instagram account. She posted a picture with Julian thirty minutes ago. Their cheeks were smeared with wite pwer. Flour or baking powder, I presumed, since they were in the kitchen, wearing twinning Kung Fu Panda aprons.
Julian took after his father's good looks. Blue eyes that run in the Collins family, soft dark chestnut curls, and a charming smile that gets him out of trouble all the freaking time. So it isn't surprising that Georgia was
smitten by the kid's charm. It runs in his blood; there's no helping that.
My frown deepened. "What about it?"
Georgia always posted pictures with Julian and Elise. Her account was private, so we had no issues about it. "Look fcking closer, man," Rafa ground it.
If I wasn't in a good mood, I would've given him an earful for using that tone on me. He sounded irritated, eyes narrowed to slits.
Following his annoying command, I looked. Nothing was strange about that picture until I saw the man standing behind them.
Leo.
He had his back to the camera, and his dark hazelnut curls were wild, as though he had just woken
Studying the kitchen, I realized it wasn't at Georgia's place, but at Leo's.
Anger radiates from Rafa like white smoke billowing out of his skin.
"I did warn you." I handed him his phone.
"What's the real score between them?" he down his drink, dragging one of the three barstools and folding his frame down on it.
He looked defeated. Now I feel bad for insinuating the possibility of Leo and Georgia. Grabbing my own barstool, I decided to come clean. "I don't think it's like that between them. Leo is nothing like you and me. He only had two girlfriends and married the last one. He's more focused on Julian."
"But she's in their house," he insisted, voice restrained. "She doesn't visit a guy's place unless there's something there."
"Julian is there. She loved Elise and Julian, you know that," I reasoned. "She has a soft side for those two. And you get that Julian's mom is not in the picture. The boy craves motherly attention."
Thinking for a moment, Rafa sighed. His shoulder slouched. "This is all my fault."
Here we go again. I hope I understand what he meant, but Rafa is not the guy who'd kiss and tell. I respect his decision to keep the reason behind his falling out with Georgia private. "Well, what are you gonna do?"
He released a weighted sigh, emptying his drink. "I need to clear my head."
I nodded. "Take the rest of the day off. I'll speak with Anthony, but I need your input on his plan." "Thanks," he squeezed my shoulder. "I owe you one."
"Nah, you don't. I was in your place once, remember? You're handling things better than I did." I chuckled, remembering how messed up I was when Sofia left Rio. "Just get your head on the right track."
Although it was halfhearted, he chuckled. "You fucked up big time. But look at you now. Family man of the year."
"Stop licking your boss's as, or I might change my mind," I warned, slapping his shoulder. "Don't drive, alright?"
"Yes, Dad," he left with a loud cackle.
For the most part of the afternoon, I was doing fine. I even went out to get coffee from the cafe across the office. That's when my day started to take a shift. The moment I was out on the street, I felt eyes watching me.
