Cooper grabs another folder from his desk and a set of keys before leading me outside to the empty office space next door.

“Go in,” he says, pulling the door open and ushering me inside.

The space is identical to his but vacant. There’s a reception area with a large mahogany desk and a small hall leading to two offices, which are directly across from each other. At the end of the hallway is a bathroom.

“What do you think?” he asks with a huge grin splitting his face.

“Um . . . I’m not sure. Are you thinking of expanding and hiring more attorneys?”

“Not exactly,” he hedges, handing me the folder. “Now what do you think?”

He’s rocking back and forth on his heels while watching me open it. It’s a bit distracting, but my pulse begins to race with excitement. His excitement is contagious.

Just when I think I can’t possibly love this man more. “It’s a contract. You got this for me?”

He nods. “It’s yours if you want it, Spence. All you have to do is sign on the dotted line. Consider it your wedding gift from me.”

“You’re serious?”

He crinkles his brow. “Of course I am.”

“You got me a business as a wedding present?”

Cooper’s tongue darts out, wetting his lips. “You’re unhappy at the school, and this is our chance to get it right. I want to get everything right. You’re quitting at the end of the month when school ends, either way.”

I can’t help that my eyes narrow at his authoritative tone.

He smirks. “I want to make you happy, baby.”

“You do make me happy, Cooper. You make me so fucking happy.” I look around the room, imagining it with furniture, fresh paint, and décor. “But, this is a lot . . . Are you sure?”

“I’m sure that I want to make you happy a lot.” Coop walks over, hugging me from behind. He rests his chin on my shoulder, and the scruff on his face tickles my neck. His warm breath makes me shiver.

“I don’t deserve you,” I whisper, layering my hands over his, which are resting on my stomach.

Cooper places a soft kiss on my collarbone. “You’re wrong.”

Spinning around in his arms, I lift up on my toes and kiss him with everything in me. “I love you so much, Coop,” I whisper against his velvety lips. “Thank you.”

“I can’t believe we open in three weeks,” Gina says, lugging another box into her office across from mine.

When Coop gave me this place, I knew it wouldn’t be the same without my girl. Gina was eager to go into business together, this time on our own. No penises allowed. We had to get a bit creative. This little town is extremely conservative. Instead of sexual health, we’ve gone under the blanket of family therapy, specializing in marriage counseling. It sure as shit beats working at the school.

“I know. I can’t believe it’s all come together so quickly.” In just a few short weeks, on top of finishing out the school year, we’ve managed to get this place together. Actually, Gina did most of the work, due to her having yet to find a job. She even held interviews and hired a secretary. She’s completely thrown herself into creating the perfect atmosphere. “You did such a great job, Gi.”

She beams. “I did, didn’t I?”

Gina was a little bummed at first that we aren’t opening an actual sexual health clinic. She thinks it’s bullshit that we have to cater to the hicks in this town. Her words, not mine. Sex therapy and marriage counseling are actually very similar. That elusive orgasm is usually the key. When I explained to her that we were really getting one over on ’em, she finally came around. Gina’s like a fourth child sometimes, high maintenance little brat that she is, but I know that I couldn’t survive without her.

Oh, and our wedding is in a week. Yeah, we wasted no time, figuring we’ve already done enough of that. In just seven days, we fly out to Cabo, along with the boys, our parents, and Gina, and I will finally become Mrs. Hebert. I pinch myself daily. How is this even my life?

“You ready to go?” Coop asks, ducking his head into my office.

Him. That’s how.

I glace over to the clock. “Is it that time already?”

He smiles. “We meet the realtor in twenty minutes.” Coop snaps his fingers. “Chop chop.”

“Get outta here,” Gina yells from across the hall. “I’ll lock up.”

On the drive over, I get butterflies. “This one’s it, Coop. I can feel it.”

“You’ve said that about the last three houses we’ve looked at,” he says, giving me the side eye.

Yeah, so we’ve been really busy. But it’s the best kind of busy. “I know, but it has everything we want . . . the lake, the fenced in yard, five bedrooms. It’s a Victorian with a wraparound porch and fully remodeled.”

“And let’s not forget it’s almost a hundred grand over our initial budget.” Coop shakes his head, running his tongue over his teeth.

“Are you mad?” I bite down on my lip as we turn onto the winding road leading to the strip of houses along Magnolia Lake.

“Princess, I’m just so ready to have a house and a bed and a fucking room that belongs to the two of us,” he laughs. “Without the parents,” Coop adds, raising his brow. “If this is what you want, it’s yours, so please want it.”

The house comes into view and it literally steals my breath away. It’s a creamy yellow color with stained glass in a few of the windows. The porch is huge with the most adorable rocking chairs and a swing. I reach out my hand, squeezing Cooper’s arm. I literally have tears in my eyes. “I told you.”

I throw my door open before he’s even shifted the truck into park. “Isn’t it beautiful?” I ask as Cooper walks up beside me.

“You’re beautiful,” he says, kissing my temple. “I guess the house ain’t bad, either.”

“Come on.” I grab his hand and lead him around back to scope out the yard while we wait for the realtor to arrive. It’s enormous and backs up to the lake with a private pier. “For your boat,” I say, shaking his hand and looking at him expectantly.

“This is pretty bad ass,” he admits as our realtor, Jennie, walks up behind us.

“Wait ’til you see the inside.”

She takes us through each room one by one, and with every room, I fall more in love with the house. I wanted our home to have character. This one has it in spades with the turrets and bay windows. The attention to detail. I mean, the woodwork is just incredible.

“There’s a fireplace in our bedroom,” I squeal, jumping into Cooper’s arms. “Imagine the hot sex we could have in front of that,” I announce, forgetting the poor woman in the room with us.

“Sold!” Coop shouts as my face heats.

“I’m so sorry,” I mouth to Jennie.

She winks, shaking her head. “Don’t worry about it, hon.”

“Let’s do it,” Coop says. “This one is definitely it.”
