Chapter 670 Dark Nether Island

"I won't be able to kill Pearl because the spiritual emperor of the Luxurious Chamber of Commerce must have given her some life-saving treasure, just like Doris had left her spiritual hologram in the airship," Ricky revealed.

"You think a lot, but you are absolutely right,” Tina nodded, grasping what Ricky had just said.

"If that's what you think, then I will accept the Massacring Sand,” Pearl answered. She no longer insisted on refusing to accept Ricky's plan, and took away the other half of the Massacring Sand. "That's wonderful!" Ricky nodded with a satisfied smile.

Back then, Ricky had already separated a part of the Massacring Sand that was stored in the Massacring Zone and went on to refine it.

That very moment, the Golden Light Array receded slowly. Ricky and Pearl returned to the Heavenly Passage again.

"We don't know how difficult this second test will be, especially in comparison with the Golden Light Array," Pearl murmured.

"It will definitely be more difficult,” Ricky stated. He had already been expecting tougher and more difficult tests lying ahead of them.

The two of them walked side by side once more towards the depths of the Heavenly Passage. About half an hour or so had passed, and the passage morphed into a portal. They soon found themselves being surrounded by the force of some array. What followed was the two were transported into a gloomy island made up of mostly rocks.

The color of the island was gloomy and gray. It was almost the size of a small city.

The area surrounding the island was completely dark. It was extremely notable how the full-bodied dark power gathered from all corners of the land and spread towards the island.

Moreover, the periphery of the island seemed to be shrinking. That was to say, the island was getting smaller by the second. Judging by the rate at which it continuously diminished in size, it might only take about ten hours before the gray island disappeared completely.

Once the island disappeared, he and Pearl would sink into the endless depths of the dark power around them.

From Ricky's perspective, the endless dark power only gave him the impression of death and danger.

"What is the test this time?" Ricky muttered

Similar to what took place in the Golden Light Array, two messages appeared in the void and entered the minds of Ricky and Pearl.

"This place is called the Dark Nether Island, a place surrounded by the Dark Sea. If you get caught in it, you will vanish in an instant. Here, strength is paramount above everything else!" Ricky and Pearl read the message together, loud and clear.

"The Dark Nether Island? I estimate that this is to test our real power. We need to complete and pass the test before the island disappears!" Ricky attempted to gauge the current test that they were about to face.

"The dark power here is quite suitable for me to cultivate.” Pearl's train of thought, on the other hand, was on a slightly different page than Ricky's.

"I forgot that you have the Feminine Mutant. While we're on this island, your strength will surely increase tenfold. You don't have plans of hitting me with a sneak attack, do you?" Ricky said half- jokingly as the words uttered by Pearl registered in his ears.

Pearl simply ignored her companion'’s light jest. Since the main objective was to work with him closely in order to overcome this difficulty, Pearl thought it was better to avoid any unnecessary dialogue with Ricky.

Seeing that Pearl was completely ignoring him, Ricky shook his head slightly in dismay. He had no choice but to concentrate on the upcoming challenges, instead.

Howl! Howl!

There were low and shrill roars that echoed from deep within the island.

The dark power that surged menacingly around the island began to change. It transformed into countless concrete devils. The devils seemed to be coming from all directions. Altogether, the devils came dashing towards Ricky and Pearl. Their momentum was unwavering.

"Let's just call them the Dark Nether Beasts, since they are condensed through the power of the Dark Nether Enlightenment,” Pearl said in a light tone. Her eyes were dead set on the approaching mass of condensed devils.

"If my guess is right, we should kill these beasts before the island disappears. The total number of these Dark Nether Beasts is ninety-nine, yet I'm not sensing any strong power coming from their combined forces." Ricky stared at their enemies quizzically.

"Perhaps more powerful Dark Nether Beasts will appear later!" Pearl exclaimed.

The two then stopped their chit-chatting, as they each broke out their powerful momentum and fought with the ninety-nine Dark Nether Beasts. After all, they didn't have that much time, so they had to complete the test as quickly as they could.

The strength of the beasts that they were currently facing had already reached the peak level of a middle spiritual king. However, they were still inferior in strength compared with Ricky's and Pearl's power. The difference in their strength only made the ongoing fight seemed more like a massacre. After being killed, the Dark Nether Beasts transformed into a mass of dark nether energy and gathered in mid-air.

Ricky and Pearl instantly noticed what had happened, although they were not taken by surprise. They already knew and expected that the second test could never be simple and easy.

"Perhaps the mass of condensed dark nether energy in mid-air is our real opponent,” Ricky said as his face was painted with a stern expression

In the blink of an eye, he blasted a fierce scorching flame fist against the dark nether energy. After all, the flame was naturally the best choice to deal with such energy.

However, after the flame fist crashed against the dark nether energy, it was only absorbed mercilessly by the energy, leaving it unscathed.

"It seems that our attack will not be effective against this mass of Dark Nether Enlightenment...not unless we kill all the ninety-nine Dark Nether Beasts," Pearl deduced, forefinger and thumb coiling her chin.

"It will only cause us trouble if we kill these beasts. Yet we have no other choice and we still have to kill them. This is such a contradicting situation that we're in," Ricky said, not bothering to conceal the helpless tone in his voice. He let out a sigh and then smirked.

Half an hour later, Ricky and Pearl had already killed all the beasts, and the smoke that was the Dark Nether Enlightenment reached the size of thirty feet.

Immediately, Ricky's and Pearl's eyes were fixed on the dissipating air that served as the remnants of the Dark Nether Enlightenment. They knew that the real test would come next.

Howl! Howl!

That moment, the strong roar rang around the entire island. The remaining cloud of smoke began to change. It only took seconds before it shape-shifted into a Dark Nether Beast with the height of fifty feet.

In addition, the Dark Nether Beast had two heads and looked extremely ferocious. It also had four dark and thick arms.

The roar it emitted was so extremely deep and loud that it seemed to shake both heaven and earth. It made the whole Dark Nether Island shudder with fear.

Almost involuntarily, Pearl's and Ricky's faces darkened with tension. They were expecting the worst, but this was far beyond what they had anticipated. They sensed an indomitable power that was more serious than the Golden Light Array.

"This Dark Nether Beast is very powerful. Maybe our combined forces will not be enough to defeat it," Ricky murmured solemnly.

Boom! Boom! Not having anything else to say, Ricky then let the flames soar and turn into armor to wrap his whole body. The seven magnificent flames also surrounded him.

Pearl also activated the Feminine Mutant, transforming herself into the form of a dark queen.

"We will strike at this Dark Nether Beast from the front and the back!" Pearl exclaimed, having carefully assessed their chances against the beast. "Then, I will use the Feminine Mutant to feel and find the weakness of this huge beast.”

"Oh?" Ricky grinned. He thought that he really must give it to Pearl for being so brave, unfazed and sharp even in the face of impending danger. "I haven't expected that your Feminine Mutant would have such an intellectual effect on you. If you've made up your mind, then I have no choice but to support you."

"Ricky, it seems that Pearl wants to earn your awe and respect once again,” Tina smiled slightly. "This isn't news, though, Tina. I mean, how can a proud person like Pearl allow herself to be rescued by others?" Ricky said with a shrug. Pearl really was just being herself. There was nothing outstanding or weird about her proposal and her willingness to take charge of the situation they were in.
