Butterscotch Souls – Chapter 45

As soon as Kee started to pull items out of that bag a feeling of dread washed over me. I put up the block between Epperly and I, and was thankful that she didn’t seem to notice. I think her mind is just in other places right now.

How could I blame her?

After everything that happened yesterday, I’m sure she is distracted.

Once Kee had instructed my mate to sit and meditate I was happy that I had put up the block. All Witches have to use words, herbs, and other things in their spells, but not us. We are different. For a spell to take this much preperation and two of us to chant… that means that it’s a pretty powerful spell.

Nerves wracked through my body as I chanted with my sister. Then I felt it. All of Epperly’s pain. She looks completely unbothered on the outside but I can feel her pain. I reached out for her but Kee stopped me. That stuff that Kee put on Epperly, obsorbed right into my mates skin.

What the hell?

I watched in useless horror as my mate’s eyes opened. They are all white and hollow of all emotion. Then her head flung back. I could tell that she wanted to scream but nothing was coming out. Even Kohen could feel Adria’s pain and exhuastion.

“Is it over?” Mom asked.

It’s painful in the worst way, to watch my mate go through this and not even be able to help. Guilt and fear pushed through me. I reached out for her again and Kee slapped my hand away.

I turned and growled at her.

“Don’t touch her yet.” She said calmly.

“She’s in pain!” I shouted at my sister.

“It’s so nice to see that at least one of our sons didn’t turn out like you.” I could hear my mom say.

What?

“How many times must I apologize? Wasn’t giving you 12 children enough?” Dad replied to her.

“I’m sorry.” Mom said with a chuckle. “You gave me?”

My eyes snapped to them. “How can you two talk so calmly through all of this?” I asked incredulously.

They shrugged at me. What the actual f**k is going on? Am I the only one that cares about Epperly being in this amount of pain?

Pops laughed. “Please Ambrose.” He scoffed.

What the hell is that supposed to mean?

“What?” I asked.

“Ambrose calm down.” Kee said next to me. “You are the only one that can feel her pain. To us she looks fine.” She told me.

I looked back at my mate. Epperly is laying on her side panting. I watched as she tried to open her eyes but then she whimpered.

“Epperly..?” I said her name softly as I reached back out for her. This time my little sister didn’t stop me. I rested my hand on her my mates arm and I could feel an almost instant relief in her. “Baby, are you alright? Can you hear me?” I asked still worried.

Epperly opened her mouth but no sound came out. She closed it again and settled for a nod. Her body hurts. Why does her body hurt so bad?

I reached down and scooped her up to a sitting position. Suddenly, all of her pain was gone. I could almost see it melt off of her. I went to pull her into my arms when her’s wrapped around me and she slumped against me.

Epperly started sniffing me and a small sigh left her lips. The sparks that always appear when we touch came back with a fierce intensity. It almost knocked me back, mostly from the shock.

It feels… amazing, better than amazing. It felt amazing before and now… I can’t even explain it.

Epperly moved her nose to the crook of my neck and inhaled deeply. I couldn’t help but inhale her scent back. She smells stronger. Her scent is swarming me, almost like it’s clinging to me.

My brain fogged over as I took another deep inhale. It’s like we are meeting for the first time all over again.

How does it feel this way? It was already an amazing feeling, my mate in general, but this… this is so much more intense. How am I ever supposed to stop touching her?

But I had to know that she is okay.

“Baby, are you alright?” I asked as I brought one hand up to her cheek.

She’s still resting in the crook of my neck, but at my words she pulled back. Epperly opened her eyes to look at me and it was like the room froze.

A gasp left my lips as I took in my mate. I brought my other hand up to hold her head between my hands.

Epperly looks like she is inspecting me, like she’s seeing me for the first time. A smile spread across her face and she started to glow. But that wasn’t what shocked me. It’s her eyes.. The golen flecks have turned into streaks across the purple in her eyes. And the purple.. it’s glowing.

The same way I have noticed in the Gods that are here right now.

In my shock I felt the block I put between us fall. That doesn’t make any sense. I could feel her pain right then, how could I feel that if I was blocked from her?

I didn’t have time to ask the questions I wanted to though. Not with what I started to see. It was as if my own eyes were changing along with my mates. I could see a glow coming from inside of her. Outside of her is another glow. A deep purple with a soft yellow around it surrounded her.

What the hell?

“Well.” Poseidon said from behind my mate. “It seems we were wrong about you Akeehla. Congratulations, you broke her seal.”

Epperly and I continued to stare at each other. I couldn’t bring myself to look away. She’s so beautiful.. no, my mate is divine.

How can one creature be so otherwordly?

My thumbs trailed across her cheeks as we stared at each other. Someone cleared their throat, but I had no intention of looking away from this stunning creature in front of me. Epperly didn’t seem to care either.

“Well then.” Kee said and then slammed her hand on my shoulder. “Looks like it’ll be you learning to use her power now.” She said amused.

That got my attention.

I turned my head to my sister with the intent of asking what she meant, but the words died on my tongue when I looked at her. Akeehla has a menacing aura around her, but the colors that dance around her are bright. Oranges, yellows, purples, a whole lot of blue and spots of black. Instantly, I could feel power rolling off of her in waves.

All I could do was stare at my sister.

“Are you okay?” She asked when I didn’t say anything.

“I knew you liked your secrets.” Epperly muttered.

I turned to her to see her staring at Kee as well. Kee gave us a confused look before her eyes glazed over. A moment later she shook her head and smiled but didn’t say anything.

“I suppose we should let the you get used to your new powers.” Poseidon said.

When I turned to look at him he was gone. Lockern left next, then Tyr. Selene gave me a wink before she too was gone. Venus giggled.

“I love love.” She said dreamily and then was gone as well.

None of them looked different to me. Not the way that Kee does, or Epperly. What is happening?

“Well? How do you feel Epperly?” Tia asked impatiently.

Both my mate and I turned to look at my sister. She looks different. There is a dark energy surrounding her, shrouding her in darkness. I can make out colors past the shadows that gaurd her but it’s hard. And strange. It’s like I can see my sister, but something is protecting her.

What is this? Epperly asked through our link.

I was going to ask you that. I said.

I think that we are seeing their auras. She told me.

Then what is this shadowy crap around Tia? I asked.

Epperly giggled out loud.

Gee, wonder if it could be her mate, ya know, the God of shadows, or whatever he calls himself. She said.

I snorted earning a strange look from everyone.

I moved my eyes to Max to see the same shadows gaurding him. Though I could make out the colors past these shadows much better than with Tia. I wonder if his power is protecting her much more since she’s pregnant. Max has a deep orange aura around him.

Interesting.

Epperly and I moved our eyes to my parents next. It’s strange that I know exactly what my mate is doing without having to look at her. We are connected in a way that goes much deeper than just a mate bond. Like two halves of a whole that are completely together. I thought that we were connected before, but this is on a whole different level.

Inspecting my mom first, she smiled at us. The colors around her instantly brightened. It’s mostly yellow, but has spots of pink, red, and green. When she smiled the yellow only got brighter and brighter. Almost like it wants to reach out and wrap us in a hug.

Your mother is so motherly. Epperly commented happily.

Yeah she is. I agreed.

Your dad though.. Epperly trailed off.

I looked to my father and could tell what Epperly meant. Pops is standing behind him and the threatening meancing aura that rolled from them was intense. They look completely normal on the outside but the waves of power I could feel from them is crazy.

Both have black auras with a very few other colors. Pops has spots of red and that’s it. While Dad has pops of red, green, and fusha’s. Mom leaned into his side and his aura completely changed. The black was nearly gone in an instant, replaced by a warm pink and yellow color.

Is this similar to how Tia’s eyes change?

“What is going on?” Max asked in a loud whisper.

“They’re seeing our auras and feeling our power.” Kee told them.

“We are?” I asked.

“Wow. I can’t see auras.” Max said. “What’s mine look like?” He asked.

Epperly giggled. “It’s hard to tell around your shadows but its yellow and orange I think.” She said.

Max is thoroughly intrigued.

“What’s that mean?” He asked.

I gave him a blank look but Epperly just giggled again.

“Well, the shadows I think is just your power protecting you. But the yellow and orange… I have no idea.” She shrugged.

Max seemed to understsand that was the best answer he was getting.

“What about Tia’s?” He asked as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders.

“I can barely tell past your shadows. They are practically covering her, it’s hard to even see her face.” Epperly said.

Max look proud of himself as he leaned back in his chair and looked at his mate. Tia rolled her eyes at him and then something shifted in the air between them. I can see the actual air sizzle with electricity. The longer they stared at each other the worse it got.

“Do you two need to be excused?” Epperly asked amused.

Tia shook her head.

“No.” She said, while at the same time her mate said, “Yes”.

Before either of them could say anything else Max grabbed his mate and they disappeared. I just stared at the empty spot wondering what the hell I just saw.

“I don’t think you want to know.” Kee said.

“I’ll take your word for it.” I mumbled.

The room fell silent for a while. Epperly and I were back to staring at each other. I can see what Max had meant when he could tell when women are pregnant. Epperly already has a glow all her own but I can tell there is a slight different shade, and I knew that belonged to my daughter.

“I can’t get over how beautiful you look right now.” I whispered to her.

Epperly beamed making the yellow around her glow brighter. Then she furrowed her brows and placed a hand on her stomach. When her eyes met mine again she looked confused still.

“I can feel her.” Epperly whispered. “Like her soul is speaking to me.”

“How the hell is that possible?” Dad asked.

I forgot anyone else was here.

My mate shrugged. “I have no idea. It’s like I can feel her emotions. How does a fetus as new as her have emotions?” She asked.

Kee stepped next to me and placed a hand over Epperly’s hand that is on her stomach.

“I can’t tell you how it’s possible but I can tell you that it is normal.” She said. “I can hear them in that same way. Ususally it doesn’t happen until the mom is three months along but, you are a special case.” She said.

“You can hear babies?” Mom asked.

Kee ignored our mother and smiled at my mate. Epperly smiled back as tears filled her eyes. She turned back to me with a bright smile.

“What do we do now?” She asked.

“You guys need to connect more. See if you can use each others powers now.” Kee said. “Take the day, I’ll go get Tate and he can stay with me tonight at Mom and Dads.” She offered.

Epperly’s aura took on a dark tone that surprised me.

“I’m not sure I’m ready for Tate to be out of my sight for that long.” She admitted.

Kee nodded. “Close your eyes. Reach out.” My sister instructed.

Epperly did as Kee said without question.

“Find him.” Kee whispered. “Do you see him?” She asked and Epperly nodded. “What’s he doing?”

“He’s playing outside with Ziggy and Daisy. He…” Epperly trailed off as she furrowed her brow. “He knows I’m here.”

Epperly went quiet for several moments but for some reason I wasn’t bothered by it. I wanted to know what the hell was going on but there was no panic in me. It was unusual.

“She astral projected to him.” Kee told me.

“Tate says hi.” Epperly said.

“I didn’t know you could talk while astral projecting.” I said.

It wasn’t like I had seen this power of Epperly’s before, but from what I had heard that wasn’t how astral projecting worked. From what I had gathered, the main body couldn’t move at all when astral projecting, let alone speak.

Could she always do this?

“I didn’t either.” My mate said. “This is different. I was never even this good before.” She said and then opened her eyes.

“Tate wants to stay with Ziggy.” She told me.

I frowned.

“I can take them both tonight. Give them some space from everyone.” Kee said as she walked to the door.

Just before she was about to walk out she turned to me.

“I won’t let anything happen to your pup.” Her words were simple but fierce.

I nodded. No matter how many secrets Akeehla Morningstar has, I will always trust my little sister. She would keep my son safe.

“The two of you should go home and start testing things out.” Mom suggested.

“Like what?” I asked.

I wasn’t even sure where to begin. How the hell am I supposed to help Epperly tap into a power that none of us know anything about?

I guess we could start out with some meditating and see where that takes us.

“Don’t worry baby, I got us.” Epperly said and then hopped off the table. “Oh wait, should I try teleporting us home?” She asked.

“I think it’s worth a try honey.” Mom said to her.

Epperly grabbed my hands in hers and closed her eyes. I just stared at her face as she concentrated. She’s so beautiful.

How did I get so lucky to have such a strong mate?

I let go of one of Epperly’s hands to cup her face. She didn’t open her eyes but I didn’t care. I dipped my head down and pressed my lips to hers. Epperly kissed be back and then I felt a strange pull.

When I teleport there is no tug. I see where it is that I want to go and then there is a buzzing under my skin. This was different, almost like I can feel myself being pulled from where I’m at. I can feel my feet being lifted from where I am and placed onto a new surface. Even with my lips pressed to Epperly’s I can tell that I’m not longer in the conference room.

The familiar smell of our home wrapped around me. Then I was pushed back, hard. I was expecting my mate to be so strong. It took me by surprise and I actually fell back. My eyes opened in time to see that we are in our bedroom. I fell back onto our bed and looked up at my mate.

Epperly is smiling down at me, proud of herself. Before I could react, she crawled on top of me. Epperly straddled me and pushed her fingers into my hair. My eyes closed as the intense tingles spread down my body.

“You feel so different now, but the same.” My mate whispered to me as her hands roamed down my body.

That familiar spark of l**t ignited through our bond. Is that hers or mine? Does it matter?

“I thought we were supposed to take tonight to figure out how to use each others powers?” I asked as my own hands roamed her body.

Epperly is right though. She feels different but the same. It’s so strange. She feels like home, like comfort, like I never want to stop touching her. This is worse than usual. I already have a hard time keeping my hands off of my mate.

Now I was sure that we would be sneaking off all the time. At least for a few months. Until we can get this feeling under control.

“We have to connect first, mate.” Epperly whispered and then pressed her lips to my neck right under my ear.

A shock of sparks shot through my body and I shuttered. My d**k went instantly hard. Mates are already connected, they already have feelings similar to this.

Since Epperly and I had met before her inner Goddess was awakened, I can confidently say that this is much more intense than a regular mate bond. It’s like with one touch she ignites every nerve ending in my body all at once.

Epperly reached her hands down and pulled my shirt off. Her hands roamed my bare chest and I fought the shutters that wanted to wreck my body. I reached my own hands down and tugged Epperly’s T-shirt off.

My hands roamed her bare stomach. She shuttered against me and I reached around to unhook her bra. I slipped it off of her shoulders softly, letting my finger tips graze across her skin.

“Wow..” I breathed out as the sparks danced throughout my body.

Epperly leaned into me and pressed her lips to mine. Her k**s is desperate and it’s doing something to me. She needs more. I need more.

I gripped Epperly’s h**s and flipped us over so that I’m hovering between her legs. I kissed down her body making sure to memorize every inch of her. I’m not sure what came over me, but I couldn’t help myself when I left temporary marks all over her body. I need her body to know me as well as I know it.

When I reached the top of Epperly’s legging I wasted no time ripping them from her body, leaving her in only her white thong. It looks so sexy against her complexion. I kissed every inch of her legs and h**s, leaving my marks behind again.

Then I yanked the small material from her body making sure she is completely bare to me. I grabbed my mates thighs and spread her legs apart before shoving my face into her p***y. Inhaling deeply, I sighed.

“Your scent is so much stronger now.” I said softly and inhaled again. “And slightly different, but all you.” I said and then started pressing k****s to her inner thighs.

When I finally made it to her sweet p***y, I licked the entire length of her. Epperly has been breathing heavy this whole time but now she let out a loud m**n. I g*****d myself at the taste of her.

How is it even possible that she tastes this good?

Epperly tastes like the sweetest nector I’ve ever had. I feel like I’ve been blessed with a forbidden fruit. My tongue flicked out to taste her again and again. I could vaguely feel my mates hands tangle in my hair as I ate her up. Her m***s bounced off of our walls making music all around me.

How am I supposed to pull myself away from her, from this?

Somehow I managed. I pulled back and stood to my feet. My mate looks absolutely stunning as I stare down at her. Without take my eyes from hers I stripped out of my jeans and boxers.

Epperly watched me with anticipation. I crawled back on top of her and pressed my lips to hers. Then I moved down to her jaw, then her neck, to her marks. How can even her skin taste so good?

“Ambrose.. please.. I can’t wait any longer.” Epperly m****d out.

I lined myself up at her entrance, and pushed my way inside slowly. The two of us m****d together as Epperly took in my entire length. This feels like the first time all over again. I can feel all of Epperly’s plessure.

It’s so different then before. It’s like I can’t tell when her plessure ends and mine begins. Almost like we are one whole person in two separate bodies. And it feels so f*****g good.

I started moving slowly, just feeling all of the new sensations. Epperly clung to me like I was the only thing anchoring her down. It feels so f*****g good, so amazing. I never want to stop.
