Chapter112 The hunt
Modified off-road tour cars roared across the savannah, disturbing the feeding predators, who glanced curiously toward the entrance. Predators were inherently sharp, the laws of the wild endowed them with keen observation skills.
Sensing the scent of humans, caution sparked in their eyes.
Yet, having fed just moments ago, they didn't pounce. Instead, they observed quietly.
A white lion had risen to its feet and locked eyes with its young owner in the stands; it didn't look away again.
Suddenly, a gunshot pierced the air.
The sound echoed across the savannah, drawing everyone's attention.
A brown bear collapsed instantly, whimpering in agony amidst the tall grass.
"Ha ha ha, I bagged one first!" Victor laughed maniacally, his eyes alight with bloodlust, reveling in a sadist's gory fantasy...
The other wild animals stood alert, sensing a potent threat to their lives drawing near.
In an instant, the predators darted into the woods.
The tour car's window was open, and a stunning face caught Big White's eye.
He gazed at Lela, roared as if reluctant to leave, and disappeared into the artificial jungle.
Lela pursed her lips, eyed the path Big White had taken, and tightened her grip on the pistol.
Big White, wait for me, wait till I bring you home.
Master Sylvester Gomez had also noticed the direction of the white lion and turned the car toward the woods when Josh Fudge's vehicle rolled up, slightly obstructing Gomez's path. Gomez had to stop, a smile tinged his eyes as he looked at the newcomer, but the warmth didn't reach his gaze.
"Mr. Fudge, good dogs don't block the path, you understand!" Gomez quipped.
Josh Fudge wasn't fazed.
Everyone knew Gomez had a fiery temper. It was just his nature. Besides, the man had the ego to match.
Josh Fudge was quite refined-looking, with decent features, but his ruthless tactics and inscrutable demeanor gave off an unsettling vibe.
Lela really disliked this man.
Josh Fudge eyed Master Sylvester Gomez with a clear intent to please. "Sorry, didn't mean to block your way, Mr. Gomez."
"Then get the hell out of it."
He had no time for this guy's nonsense. Couldn't he see his little guy was freaking out?
But Josh Fudge didn't budge, instead, he mumbled, "Seems like you've taken an interest in that white lion too, Mr. Gomez."
At that, Master Sylvester Gomez lifted an eyebrow, shooting Fudge a sidelong glance. "I've always enjoyed taming the strong, be it beast or man. You too, Mr. Fudge?"
With a hearty laugh, Fudge replied, "I can hardly claim expertise, but on that point, I share Mr. Gomez's sentiment."
Gomez didn't respond, but the corners of his mouth curled with disdain.
Seeing Gomez's impatience, Fudge dared not delay further and quickly blurted out, "I've heard about your top-notch driving and shooting skills, Mr. Gomez. I'd be bold enough to challenge you to a match if you're willing." Gomez raised an eyebrow, his eyes dripping with contempt. "And who do you think you are?"
Without another word, he rolled up his window, spun the wheel, and with a sharp turn, he was off through the woods, leaving Fudge and his car behind.
Mildred Gomez, sitting in the backseat, glanced coolly at Fudge, thinking, who does this guy think he is to talk big to the boss?
Fudge's henchman muttered on the side, "Mr. Fudge, why demean yourself with that arrogant Sly Gomez?"
Fudge's smile was gone in an instant, his expression turning dark. "What do you know? He's a man of international repute, with endless resources. If we want the Tang corporation to thrive, we need Gomez on our side."
