Captivated by the Ruler of the Underworld
Chapter 158 Sylvester Bets on the King to Win

"Smart move," Lela complimented.

"Of course. I've put down five million euros, so you have to win it back for me, no excuses." Lela's lips curled into a confident smile as her eyes gleamed with certainty. "Double it." Just as Lily was about to agree, her gaze was drawn to a scene unfolding on the screen.

The final stages of the competition were underway.

A man from Pliar country was seated opposite a foreigner - the very Yaz whom everyone outside the ring was so sure would win.

The foreigner had sharp, rugged features, aged with wrinkles that hinted at the passage of time despite still showing traces of his former appearance. Lily nearly choked on her frustration.

Sensing Lily's agitation, Lela glanced at her. "What's up?"

Finishing her wine in one gulp, Lily's eyes were predatory. "It's him, Yaz."

Right then, she felt an overwhelming urge to tear the man apart.

Years ago, the royal family, citing a bizarre curse, had turned on her and her brother. It was a ludicrous reason that the rational citizens of their country wouldn't accept. To appease public outcry, the royals went so far as to plant this man in her mother's entourage, falsely accusing Kane of infidelity and arguing that she and her brother were not royal by blood, igniting public fury.

This had led to over a decade of being hunted.

Suddenly, the camera flashed to a face she recognized all too well - Prince Charles.

Her uncle.

The camera flash was fleeting, and by the time Lela glanced over, the shot had already moved on.

Lily watched the man with a smile. No wonder she had nearly been assassinated upon arrival; Charles was here, too.

Royalty, here in Pliar country?

So, this Yaz was Charles's man. Was Charles behind the betrayal of her mother years ago?

"Yaz. Enemy." Lily hurled her glass and made a dash off.

Lela caught her, locking eyes with Lily. "Cool it. Let me handle this."

Lela released Lily, put on a golden mask amidst the rising commotion, and strode out.

The event below had concluded, with Yaz naturally coming out on top. The host took the stage to announce the results.

What followed was the fierce showdown between the real titans of gambling.

Guided to the arena by a team of black-suited bodyguards prepared by Ethan, Lela, with her tall, slender figure more delicate than most boys-stepped forward with a steady stride. Her entrance set the crowd abuzz.

"Who do you think will win, the Gambling Queen or Yaz?"

"I heard there's big money on Yaz behind the scenes. Are you gonna follow? If he wins, the payout's gonna be sweet."

"But I have a feeling the Gambling Queen's got this. She's the reigning champ and took down the three-time winner before her."

Unaware, the moment Lela appeared, Sylvester's pupils contracted, fingers tensing slowly.

Ready to go.

The host jazzed up the crowd with his microphone, whipping the atmosphere into a frenzy.

Charles watched his man face off against the previous champion, then glanced at Sylvester with a smirk. "Mr. Gomez, who do you fancy in this clash? I think Yaz has got it." He answered his own question, not expecting Sylvester to respond.

But the next second, he heard Sylvester-who would ordinarily scorn such a question-unexpectedly say, "He'll lose."

He was referring to Yaz.
