Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 1387
The car halted in front of the red light at the intersection near the Jimenez family’s house.
Roger turned sideways to face Rachel and asked, “Do you want Joey to leave Apliaria?”
Rachel nodded.
Ever since Joey was abducted, Rachel had become a little paranoid.
Now that she planned to teach Wallace a lesson, it was hard for her not to worry about her son’s safety.
What if he got involved again?
Only by taking Joey away from this place would she have peace of mind.
In that way, she could do what she wanted to do.
“Have you told Joey?”
“Not yet.” The topic made Rachel’s head throb.
“I need to find a good timing to talk to him.”
Their conversation was interrupted when her phone vibrated.
Quintin had texted back.
It was a questioning mark.
Rachel glanced down at her phone to see the message that had just shown up.
The automobile was about to enter the Jimenez family’s manor, so she delayed her response and silenced her phone.
The Bentley pulled over to the level area of the yard.
The servants waited at the main villa’s entrance.
They all lined up in a row, smiles on their faces, and stared eagerly when they spotted Roger’s automobile.
Rachel was taken aback by how dramatic the scene turned out to be.
Shock and unease crept over her.
Roger, recognizing the shift in her demeanor, took her hand and, without saying a word, held it for a few moments.
Silently, she pulled away from his grasp, undid her seat belt, and flashed him a reassuring grin, saying she was fine.
Roger looked down at his palm, which was empty.
Suddenly, he pulled back his gaze, got out of the car, moved around the front of the vehicle to the passenger side, and opened the door for her.
Rachel exited the vehicle.
As soon as she firmly planted her feet, she heard the servants all yell in unison, “Welcome, Miss Bennet!”
She couldn’t believe what she was hearing.
Roger had no idea his parents had planned this, of course.
Smiling hopelessly, he looked at her.
“Auntie! From the stairs, a pale yellow figure raced toward Rachel and shouted pleasantly.
It was Riley.
Clara grinned and added, “Try not to scream.
Aunt Rachel is here alone.”
Riley huffed and peered suspiciously behind Rachel.
Rachel saw this and knew just who she was searching for.
She said,
“Joey’s at home.
He did not accompany us today.”
