“Kid, since we’ve made an agreement…”

Joey cast a sideways glance at him.

“You have to call me master!” Finding it exciting, Hector burst into laughter.

Rolling his eyes, Joey remained silent.

“We already had an agreement, kid.

Are you going back on your words now?” Hector asked when Joey ignored him.

“You’re not my master yet.”

Hector frowned, baffled.

“What do you mean I’m not your master yet?

I’ve already promised to teach you.

Stop messing with me, kid.

You know what I used to do.”

“Then when are you going to teach me?” Joey asked, batting his eyes innocently.

Hector fell silent and thought about it.

After a moment, he smacked his lips and said, “Well… I have to find the appropriate time.

For now, I can’t start teaching you yet.

It’s always cold outside, and finding a place to practice will be hard.”

Then he moved his fingers as if counting something and cleared his throat before adding, “Let’s wait until after this winter.”

The truth, however, was that he didn’t plan to teach Joey shooting this early.

Even if he agreed to teach him, he hadn’t specified when.

He wasn’t against the idea of teaching the boy some skills to protect himself, but it didn’t mean it had to be now.

He had intended to do it when Joey was a bit older, but he hadn’t counted on the latter seeing through him, which put him in a tight spot.

“Then I’ll only call you master after this winter, Joey said with a cute smile.

Upon hearing that, Hector couldn’t believe his ears.

“What’s the difference? Why can’t you start calling me master now?

Besides, you’re still too young for it.

Do you know how old your father was when he learned to use guns? He was much older then.”

Right after finishing his words, Hector paused.

He realized he had said something wrong and cleared his throat to try and mask his mistake.

“Alright, alright.

If you want to start learning now, I’LL ask someone to make a model for you in the following days,” Hector said to try and change the subject.

“Anyway, it’s getting cold.

Go inside now.

“You know him?” Joey cut Hector off, ignoring the latter’s futile attempt at distracting him.
