Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 1446
Wallace narrowed his eyes when he got nudged about the payment, but a cunning smile soon replaced his fit.
He walked smugly to Rachel and poured her a glass of water.
“There’s no hurry.”
He put the glass before Rachel.
Rachel looked at the glass and asked, “Excuse me? Don’t tell me you’re taking back your words now that you got what you wanted?”
“No, no.
It’s not like that.
Wallace quickly denied the criticism.
“
I know the rules.
There’s no way I’d get myself into trouble by not honoring an agreement.”
Rachel picked up the glass and impatiently tapped it with her fingers from time to time.
Noticing this, Wallace glimpsed at the glass of water in her hand and smiled.
“Frankly, I didn’t expect you’d be able to get these files back so soon.
Don’t worry.
I will transfer you the balance later.”
His statement drove Rachel’s eyebrow up.
“Why wait then?”
“Drink some water first.
Let’s chat for a bit.” Wallace stared at the glass.
He was so anxious just now, but he finally calmed down the second he saw the contents of the U disk.
“Boss, be careful of that water.
He put something in it,” Quintin cautioned worriedly.
At that moment, Rachel put the glass down on the table.
She flipped her hair and fixed it up so she could covertly tap her earpiece to confirm that she was well aware.
She wasn’t so reckless.
Between Wallace and herself, only he regarded her as a fool.
Something about the water was already suspicious from the start.
She wasn’t in any way naive to miss that detail.
Since she just set the glass aside, Wallace asked in a hurry,
“What’s wrong? It’s okay, you can drink.”
“Actually, I’d appreciate it more if you get to the point.
Go ahead, say what you wish to say.
I’m busy.”
Of course, Wallace reckoned there was no use trying to force her when she was this adamant.
In an attempt to divert her attention, he faked a cough.
“Here’s the thing.
I’d like to work with you again.
I truly admire your invaluable skills.
Anyway, I’m sure you know something about me.
I’m working for Sullivan Group.”
Rachel didn’t utter a word.
She just stared at him calmly.
