Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 1482
Rachel.
Rachel said calmly, “The first problem was your crappy elevator system.
If I hadn’t found it on time, someone else would, perhaps one of your competitors.
If they were one step ahead, they would use it to their advantage, trap some senior executives in the elevator, including yourself, and leave all of you to die.
They’d make it look like an accident and failure on your part instead of murder.
If I’m not mistaken, the call you had just now was from one of your men.
He must have told you that the elevator system was hacked, which was why Wallace got trapped inside for nearly ten minutes.
I believe he also told you that the bug was taken down and the system was now fixed.”
Leaning his back against the sofa and crossing his legs, Odin said,
“He did.”
It was why Odin didn’t get angry and ask someone to take Rachel away.
Rachel continued, “Second, I exposed a fraudster from your people.”
Odin regarded her solemnly, which Rachel returned with equal sternness.
The two stared at each other without saying a word, but the tension between them was palpable.
None of them caved in or dropped their gazes.
After a moment, Odin asked coldly, “What do you want?”
Odin couldn’t be taken for a fool.
He was sharp enough to recognize that Rachel didn’t make this big scene just because she was a warm— hearted person.
In fact, even she had to admit that it was no use trying to trick
Odin either.
Rachel came straight to the point and said, “I want Wallace.”
Squinting his eyes, Odin was actually a little surprised at Rachel’s request.
“Why? Do you have a grudge against him? I’ll make things easier for you.
What price do you want him to pay? I’ll do it for you instead.”
Sure, it seemed like Odin was trying to make a deal with Rachel, but he had always been full of pride.
In front of a woman that seemed so feeble, he couldn’t help looking down upon her.
Hence, his words didn’t sound very sincere.
Moreover, he didn’t like being manipulated by a woman.
Rachel could put forward what conditions she had in mind, but it would be up to Odin if he would agree or not.
So, when he heard Rachel asking him to hand Wallace over, he didn’t agree right away.
Instead, he made sure that she knew that he had the last say on this matter.
In fact, a traitor like Wallace meant nothing to Odin.
Hence, he was just using Wallace as a bargaining chip.
On the other hand, Rachel was not surprised to hear Odin’s response.
The truth was she had already expected that Odin would react this way, even before she came to meet him.
“Whatever animosity there is between Wallace and me is personal.
It shouldn’t be a big deal for you,” Rachel replied calmly with a Light smile.
“Besides, I prefer to solve my problem by myself.”
Odin’s thin lips pressed together Lightly.
“I know that you won’t let Wallace go that easily.
After all, I’ve heard that you hate betrayal the most.
If he is in your hands, I’m sure he won’t get away for what he did to you.” Rachel briefly paused and continued, “I won’t stop you from punishing him, and I also don’t expect you to hand Wallace over to me right now.”
Unknowingly, Rachel defused the tense situation with her statements.
