Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 1573
“Don’t underestimate my ability.” It was like his last resort.
He was so worried about her turning him down that he immediately continued,
“That skill has helped me a lot.
Whenever I got beat up, I recovered in just a couple of days.
Most people will need at least a couple of weeks to a month to recover from a good beating.
But for me, three days is plenty.
In fact, back when Ronan’s men beat me up, I almost thought I was going to die, but I was back to normal in just a few days!” Bryan held up three fingers with a prideful look in his eyes.
It was Ronan, again.
Rachel was hearing that name for the third time now.
Recalling the empty bullet on the keychain, Rachel asked, “Who is
Ronan? Does he scare you?”
Bryan subconsciously looked around to make sure that no one was there.
He breathed a sigh of relief and said, “I am scared of him.
I don’t know anyone in Maple District who is not afraid of him!”
“Why is that?”
“The residents of this area work in the local factory, but the factory doesn’t provide them accommodation, so we’re forced to rent a room outside.
The apartments close to the factory are pretty cheap, so most of the employees rent apartments there, and Ronan is the owner of those apartments.”
While talking, Bryan and Rachel crossed the road and entered the alley.
It was a relatively wider alley than the one they just crossed.
Bryan continued in a low voice, “If we displease Ronan, he’ll kick us out without any second thought.
You might think that’s not too terrible, and you may be right.
We’ll still be able to live far away from the factory while paying more rent, but… Ronan is really close with several factory owners and they often drink together.
If he wants to give you a hard time and put you out of a job, then it’ll be a piece of cake for a man like him.”
“And the guy who just hit you is working for Ronan?” Rachel did not think much of his story because she wasn’t interested in knowing the law of the jungle.
After all, she wasn’t an angel who saved everyone who was in trouble.
The world was filled with unfair predicaments, and she couldn’t help everyone even if she wanted to.
“Sort of.” Bryan pursed his cracked lips.
“That guy is a huge suck up, and he made Ronan happy by introducing a nice woman to him.”
Rachel raised her eyebrows but said nothing.
To people like Bryan, Ronan was a scary man, a force to be reckoned with, so he did not dare to say any more about him.
“So who on earth are you looking for here? No.
5 Resettlement Community is right there.”
Rachel looked in the direction he was pointing to.
On a blue metal plate, the number 5 was spray-painted in white.
“Thank you.
You may leave now.”
Saying that, Rachel walked past Bryan and toward the community.
