“I have some business with her,” Rachel replied coldly.

Bryan was about to ask more, but then the woman nudged him hard with her elbow, indicating that he should shut up.

“I what?” the woman asked stiffly, raising her head and squaring her shoulders.

Bryan was so furious that he could not speak for a second.

The woman flipped her hair and tucked it behind her ear before she turned to Rachel and said, “Alice went out yesterday, and she hasn’t returned yet.

If you want to see her, I’m afraid you’ll have to come back some other time.”
