Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 691
The dashing man on the left side had thick eyebrows and starry eyes.
Joey immediately recognized the similarities he had with him.
The man was handsomely dressed in a suit and stood tall next to Maria.
Although he hadn’t seen the man before, Joey soon realized who he was.
He must be Odin.
“If I’m not mistaken, you’ve lived with just your mother since childhood, right?” Maria asked.
“Have you ever seen your father?”
Joey looked up at her without saying anything.
“Your father is my son.
His name is Odin Sullivan.
I’m not mistaken.
You are my grandson.” Afraid that Joey didn’t believe her, Maria continued, “Four years ago, your parents fell in love with each other at a wine party.
It only took a short while for me to find out.
I disliked your mother because of her poor background, so I gave her
@ generous sum of money on the condition that she would leave your father.
I had no clue that she was already pregnant with you at that time.
It was not until a few days ago that I learned your mother gave birth to you.
When I sent someone to pick you up, you were no longer there.
I know you will hate me for breaking up your parents
‘relationship.
I’m truly sorry.
It never dawned on me that your mother was pregnant with you.
If I had known sooner, I wouldn’t have driven the both of you away.
My dear grandson, can you please forgive me?”
After sharing her shocking revelation, Maria sat beside the little boy and held his hand.
Joey looked at Maria and bit his lip.
He still didn’t say anything.
His big eyes blinked without showing any emotion.
No one knew what was going through his mind at the moment.
Maria was very kind and gentle to him, but even though she had said so many sentimental words, there was no joy in her eyes.
Something felt amiss.
Her demeanor was somewhat distant, and her sweet actions seemed forced.
She didn’t seem ecstatic to have found her long-lost grandson.
It seemed like she was an actress playing her part.
Or a trickster putting on a show.
Joey had no idea what Maria wanted from him, but he didn’t intend to be nice to her.
He drew back his hand and said firmly, “You are not my grandmother.”
“But…”
“I’m afraid I must go now.” Joey got up from the sofa and spoke politely but with an air of indifference.
“Although your story is very touching, it’s such a pity that you’ve got the wrong person.
I do have some resemblance with the man in the photo you showed me.
But it doesn’t mean that I am his son.
All of a sudden, a lady comes up to me and says I am some stranger’s son? If my dad finds out about this, he will be outraged by your false claim.
Besides, if
I don’t return home this instant, Mommy will worry about me.
If she can’t find me, she will be anxious and report me missing to the police.”
The smile on Maria’s face vanished into thin air.
Joey’s message was very clear.
If she didn’t let him go, the authorities would soon come knocking at her door.
After giving them a warning, Joey turned around and casually walked away.
