“It’s okay.

I

The child raised his face to meet Victor’s dark eyes, but the words never came out.

After a moment of silence, Victor averted his gaze and saw that they were alone.

He looked out from the massive glass window and saw a white Light flashing through the night sky.

A dull rumble of thunder came from afar.

It wasn’t too loud, but it was a sign that rain was coming.

Victor blinked, staring at Joey’s face again.

“Are you afraid of thunder?”

‘What? Afraid of thunder?’ Before Joey could react, thunder roared and echoes throughout the room.

Startled, he jumped out of the chair and threw himself into Victor’s arms.

But the little child ended up hugging Victor’s legs instead.

Feeling the strength of Joey’s embrace, Victor’s heart skipped a beat.

He looked down and saw Joey’s fluffy head.

For a moment, he didn’t know what to do.

The storm raged outside and he felt Joy tremble against him.

Victor pursed his Lips and clumsily placed his hand over

Joey’s head, patting him gently.

“Don’t be scared,” he said in a stiff voice.

Feeling the warmth on his head, Joey’s body stiffened a little.

He slowly looked up and found Victor looking at him.

The child immediately stepped back, looking embarrassed.

“Who says I’m scared? I was just a little surprised, that’s all!”

“Huh, whatever.” Victor didn’t seem to believe what Joey said.

“If you don’t eat the noodles now, they’ll get cold.”

“I’m really not afraid of thunder!” Joey explained stubbornly.

He was more concerned that Victor didn’t believe him.

Victor looked at him and Joey returned a determined gaze with his bright eyes.

After staring at the boy for quite a while, Victor suddenly bent down and picked him up.

“Alright, you’re no sissy.

I believe you.

Now, eat.”

Joey was speechless as Victor set him down on the chair.

His words weren’t persuasive in the slightest.

Joey wanted to say something, but he saw Victor pulling out a chair and sat next to him.

He blinked his eyes in confusion.

Victor could feel Joey’s eyes on him, but he didn’t say anything.

He took out his phone and sent Ivan a message.

After that, he turned to the young boy.

“I’ll sit down and rest for a bit.

Go ahead and help yourself.”

“Rest? But he was about to leave just now,’ Joey thought.

Victor didn’t say anything else.

He just continued to sift through business documents on his phone.

Joey was still dumbfounded, but after a while, he picked up his chopsticks.

He saw green onions swimming in his bowl.

He never liked them and started taking them out one by one.
