Chapter 297 Marshall Is Always Generous
He looked at Katherine from afar, saying nothing.
He had thought she would spot him when she looked around outside the door.
But she didn't.
He was sitting in the car silently. In fact, he came here the day before yesterday and saw her watering the flowers happily.
It seemed that she had a happier life by herself than with him.
After a while, a car stopped in front of the house.
He saw Hector in the streetlight.
He sneered.
He finally understood why Katherine opened the door at late night.
Katherine saw him when Hector stepped into the yard. She stood up and said, "I've made tea for you to sober up."
Hector entered the room and saw the tea on the table.
He sat opposite her, glanced at the tea and smiled. "It's for me?"
She nodded. "Of course. I didn't drink in case that I would lose sleep."
He took the cup. It was warm.
He drank half in one go. In fact, he hadn't drunk too much.
He put it down. "Actually, I was not happy until I got the call from you."
This morning he had a quarrel with Kevin. Kevinn said, "You're the same as your mother."
He retorted immediately, "That couldn't be better. I was afraid of being like you, which is desperate for me."
He was depressed due to the quarrel.
Even during the dinner, he was still not himself no matter how Mr. Dickins tried to raise the atmosphere.
But then he received the call from Katherine.
"It somehow reminded me of the day I went to the Bennett company with you."
She couldn't think of anything special that day.
She smiled. "So, who do you think of? Patrick or Alexis?"
"No," he said, "You."
He stared at her.
She was about to ask what he had thought of when she saw his serious face with softness in the eyes. Her smile faded away.
"What do you wanna say? You're embarrassing me." Said she.
"Actually, you knew I was taking advantage of you that day, didn't you?" He laughed after a second.
She was astonished with her mouth compressed, saying nothing.
Silence meant yes.
He heaved a sigh of relief. "I did want to take advantage of you, and you noticed it later."
But she didn't ask him anything.
"Never mind. I'm glad I could help you." She smiled after a second.
His eyes were getting softer and softer. He sat straight. "You're the first one who's willing to help me no matter what I have done since I was born." She wondered what's wrong with him today.
"Katherine, I want to tell you something that I have long wanted to tell you. Actually, I ..." He stared at her.
"Oh, what a coincidence. Hector's here." A voice came from the door.
Katherine was shocked to almost jump from the sofa.
She saw Marshall standing by the door with hands in his pocket somehow.
She wondered why he suddenly showed up since he had disappeared for several days.
Stopped by Marshall, Hector had to swallow his words.
He looked at Marshall with brows knotted.
Marshall laughed and walked over slowly. "I was coming by."
She sneered at his excuse in mind.
He sat beside Katherine and looked at the table, on which were a pot and a cup.
He turned his gaze and said to Hector, "You're coming from a business dinner?"
"Um," Hector said, "How could you have time to come here?"
"I've been not busy these days, so I'd like to roam about the city."
"What are you doing here?" Katherine turned to him asked him in a low voice.
"As I just said, I was passing by." He slid her a sideways glance.
She couldn't believe his excuse since her house was far away from the road.
She compressed her lips and turned his eyes.
She recalled that it had been a few days since he lost his temper last time.
Hector finished his tea in one go.
He had planned to confess to Katherine, but it seemed that it's not an appropriate time now.
Marshall stood up to the kitchen, got a cup and made a tea for himself.
He leaned on the sofa and crossed his legs as if sitting in his own house.
Katherine scoffed at him.
Ignoring him, she turned to look at Hector. "Oh, what did you want to tell me?"
"Forget it. I'll tell you next time." He smiled.
With an unnoticeable smile, Marshall looked at Hector while drinking tea.
"OK." Said she.
There was an awkward pause suddenly. Three of them didn't how to break the silence.
Marshall looked at Katherine's phone on the table and bent down to get it. "You've been using the phone like that for years."
"Don't take my phone." Said Katherine.
"I remember I bought it for you."
She hesitated for a moment. He did buy the phone for her.
She had been using a cheap phone before she married him.
He then asked Peter to buy a new phone for her partly because he thought she deserved a better phone and partly because he heard her complain about the phone.
"So, are you gonna ask me to pay it back to you?" She glared at him.
He answered with a smile and entered the password, but she had changed the password.
He had known that she would change it.
It seemed that she was determined to make a clean break with him.
"No, I'm just talking." He gave the phone back to her.
He continued, "I've transferred some money to you. I'll keep my words."
She immediately checked her bank account by phone.
It showed that he transferred some money to her this afternoon.
It was a large amount of money.
He was really generous.
"What do you mean?" She pulled her face.000‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒
