She had no intention of arranging a get-together just yet. With the situation around the organization still unresolved, meeting up with Lydia and Quincy could only risk drawing unwanted attention toward them. It would be putting them in harm's way. "When we get home, I'll reach out to Quincy. I have a project at the company that I'd like to collaborate on with him," Nash said. He was considering collaborating with Quincy because he trusted his integrity and knew Quincy would approach the project with commitment, regardless of its scale. "Why don't you just focus on driving?" Nina suggested. "I'll reach out to Lydia instead and send a quick text. They're probably both busy at this hour." She pulled out her phone, found Lydia in her contacts, and sent a cute emoji. With no immediate reply, she left it at that. As they pulled up to their house, Nina barely had time to step inside with the takeout before Orion came running up to her. He didn't even notice the bag in her hand as he wrapped his arms around her, clinging tightly.

"Mom, why did you take so long? I was really worried. I thought something bad might've happened to you!" Orion's tone was full of relief as he hugged her.

Nina exchanged a quick glance with Nash before offering Orion a reassuring smile. "There's nothing to worry about, sweetie. The line was just long, and they ran out of things, so I had to wait a little while."

Orion exhaled dramatically, his small shoulders relaxing. "That's a relief. But, Mom, next time, don't worry about waiting. You can just come home, even if they're out. I don't need fried chicken that badly."

There was plenty of food at home,

after all, and he wasn't going to insist on just one meal. Nina hugged

him close and spun heged

making him laugh out loud, the worry vanishing from his face.

QUMS

With Nina focused on Orion, Nash walked over to where their daughter lay, scooping her up from her cradle. He gently cradled her, softly patting her side.

When Gemma was first born, he

hadn't known how she preferred to

be held, which had led to a few accidental wake-ups. But with

enough practice, he had become net

adept at it, holding her just right.

Lost in her dreams, she let out a tiny spit bubble, which brought a chuckle to Nash's face.

"Let me see Gemma too!" Orion gently slipped out of Nina's arms and tiptoed over to Nash, carefully adjusting his voice to a whisper. "Dad, can I hold her too?"

"Of course. Just be careful," Nash replied, lowering Gemma into Orion's arms while keeping his hands nearby for support.

Orion might be young, but he had a

knack for handling his sister. The two were already close, with Gemma always seeming especially at peace around him. Orion admired her for a moment before handing her back to

Nash.

"I can't wait until she's older," Orion whispered with a grin. "Then I'll get to share my fried chicken with her!"
