Orion rattled off a list of games, and the boy shook his head the whole time. He had completely forgotten to cry, his big eyes wide with curiosity. "What are those games you're talking about? I've never heard of them."

"Come to preschool with me, and you'll see. There are lots of other kids there, and we can play all of them together." Orion kept him guessing, adding a little suspense.

The boy was intrigued. He got up, grabbed Orion's hand, and said, "I want to go to preschool with you. I want to try all those games!"

The boy's parents, relieved, approached Nina to thank her and offered praise for Orion.

"They're classmates now, and I'm sure they'll be great friends. No need to thank us," Nina replied, watching her son's retreating figure with pride. She and Nash had done well raising him.

Once the two kids disappeared into the school, Nina got back in the car and instructed the driver to head to the courthouse. As the reality of seeing Quincy again set in, Lydia found herself clenching her hands, a wave of nervous anticipation washing over her.

They hadn't seen each other in days and Quincy was probably spending all that time with Tiffany. His parents, who had always wanted him to marry her, were surely pushing them together at every chance they got.

Just like her own parents were trying to pair her up with Eugene.

The drive to the courthouse felt endless, like it stretched on for ages, but finally, the car stopped. Nina got out with her and stood by her side as they waited outside.

Before long, Quincy appeared. He had come alone.

"Lydia, it's been a while," he greeted her, his eyes red with emotion.

How had things come to this?

Lydia took a step back. "Let's skip the small talk. Let's go inside, get a number, and get this over with. The sooner we finalize this divorce, the sooner we can both move on."

It was only then that Quincy noticed

Nina standing beside her. They exchanged a brief greeting, but with Lydia present, Nina held back any questions she had about what really happened. Instead, she

accompanied them both inside.

The courthouse was busy with couples waiting for their turn. Once they had their number, they joined the line.

"Lydia, can't we reconsider this?"

Quincy asked while they waited.

care deeply about our marriage. We fought so hard to be together, and it would be such a waste to throw it all away now."

"I've already made my position clear," Lydia replied firmly. "If you could bring our child back, then maybe we wouldn't have to divorce. I'd listen to whatever you say after

that."

To Lydia, marriage was sacred. She wasn't one to casually bring up divorce, but once she did, it meant her decision was final.

"Lydia..." Quincy's lips moved, but he couldn't find the words. His eyes were filled with despair. The thought of losing her filled him with an overwhelming sense of loss. Just then, his phone rang. It was his mother calling.

Quincy ignored the call, but she persisted, calling again immediately after he hung up.

He declined the call a second time, but it kept ringing.

Finally, he switched the phone to silent, though the screen continued to light up, one missed call after another.
