CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery -
Chapter 646
Even though they were divorced, having such a dream still left Nina terrified.
With that, she completely lost any desire to sleep. She turned on the light, struggled to sit up while holding her belly. She then got out of bed to drink a glass of water. She picked up her phone and started scrolling through the news online. At this moment, it seemed to be the fastest way for her to get updates from the outside world.
There was no progress on the case of the murdered women, but her worries persisted. She thought of Wilfred. Since she last saw him in his studio, she had not seen him again. Busy with work, she had not noticed if there was any movement next door. She opened the door. Now, in the dead of night, even a pin dropping could be heard. Standing at Wilfred's door, she did not know how to face him.
She knew her life was hanging by a thread and she did not want to drag them down, yet she could not help but worry. These conflicted feelings were hard to manage.
It was as if Wilfred knew she was standing outside. He opened the door immediately. Seeing his tall figure, Nina was surprised.
"You..."
"Come in," Wilfred said gently, smiling at her as always.
Without thinking, Nina went inside. She was immediately hit by a strong medicinal smell, even stronger than before.
Wilfred went straight to the kitchen to heat up some milk for her. When he came back, he handed her the cup. Nina sat on the sofa, holding the warm milk.
She took a sip and asked, "How did you know?" He should not have known she had this habit of drinking warm milk.
"Nash told me," Wilfred replied. "Since you already know, I won't hide it. The day you fainted, I was able to reach in time because Nash informed me. He knew I could save you."
Nina pursed her lips, feeling a mix of emotions. She could not help but ask, "The medicinal smell in your place is even stronger now."
Wilfred's expression changed slightly. "Don't like it? We can go to your place."
"No, it's fine. I can handle it," Nina said. "I just had a nightmare. I dreamt of Nash's corpse."
Wilfred paused. "Dreams are the opposite of reality."
Nina continued, "I feel uneasy, like something bad is going to happen."
Wilfred looked at her intently. "Everything will settle down. Don't overthink it."
"Wilfred, I have a question." Nina had many doubts. "In my fragmented memories, I was with you all for a time. I must have been quite old then. Was I kidnapped or deceived? How did I manage to leave the organization, while you couldn't?" Wilfred did not have all the answers. "I don't know how you got in. When the organization was exposed, the police rescued some of us. You were probably saved by them."
"Why weren't you saved?"
"You and I got separated," Wilfred replied.
"I see," Nina said, drinking her milk, still sensing something was off.
How did she get in? She had no memory of it.
Why hadn't they taken her organs?
Had they been training her to be an assassin? But she did not have those skills.
If she had been part of the organization, she would have been a helpless victim, not someone who could be rescued.
After finishing her milk, Nina felt more at ease. She went back to her room and quickly fell asleep.
The next day, she was woken up by a phone call.
"Nina, get online, quick! We've made it, we've made it!" Nelly said excitedly on the other end.
