I can't rest anymore while thinking about what I read earlier. I put the book back from hiding behind the portrait of Damon and me. I don't know what to do but one thing is for sure I need to go back to Neticia's room to find that pen holder again. I just hope it's still there. If only I had known in the beginning that it was the key to the missing page of Alpha Devon's book, I would have taken it as the pen holder long ago. I stopped walking when the bedroom door opened, and Anna walked in. She bowed her head a bit. "Your lunch is ready, Luna," she said politely.

"Is Damon...back already?" I asked, hoping that Damon had returned. I still remember his head injury. I don't know how to help. I feel like I am so useless. I'm just here and there's nothing I can do but continue to worry about Damon. "Not yet, Luna," Anna replied. I bit my lower lip and sighed heavily. I don't know what to feel anymore. I feel like Damon is going further and further away from me. It started when he focused on finding Jules.

I ate lunch alone in the dining room. Some paragraphs are incomplete if you are not reading this novel on FindNovel.net. Visit FindNovel.net to read the complete chapters for free. And Damon didn't come until I finished. I thought of going to Neticia's room to get that pen holder, but I didn't have the chance because there were many guards scattered around that part. Also, I have no excuse for Anna to leave me alone.

No one can know that I want to enter Neticia's room. I have to remember that the traitor Jules is referring to is just around and close to Damon. Whoever that is I need to act as cool as I am.

That's why, like my previous days, Anna and I hung out in the library and read even though my brain was flying. I am hoping that the answer is in the pen holder. I don't know what was hidden there but I remembered something ringing inside the pen holder when I touched it.

So, I knew there was something different inside and that's what I needed to know. We left the library, and I was about to enter the room when I heard Damon's arrival. I quickly ran towards the entrance and saw Damon. He's wearing his royal cape as he graces the entrance of the palace. We both looked at each other.

He approached me. My heart pounded so loud when he suddenly pulled me for a hug. His heat quickly spread through my body. He pressed my head to his chest, and I felt his warm embrace even more. Tears welled up in my eyes as my heart slowly broke. I thought he had completely lost interest in me. I thought he had completely forgotten me and was enveloped in the darkness of revenge.

"I'm sorry..." he whispered softly. The heat of his breath spread in my ear. My tears kept falling. Little by little his clothes got wet on his chest because of my tears.

"I-I'm so worried, Damon..." I sobbed. He hugged me tighter. I immediately felt safe and secure. He is really all I need to calm my heart and mind. He is really all I need to be happy and have peace. He's the only one I want to survive this lifetime. And I will be very hurt when he is separated from me.

After that scene, Damon and I had dinner in the room. We were enveloped in silence while eating. I know he kept looking back at me while I kept my eyes on my food. I was afraid to gaze into his eyes. I feel like I'm going to melt. I feel like I will disappear from his eyes forever when I meet his gaze.

"What did you do today?" he suddenly asked in the middle of the silence.

"We...just read the whole day in the library," I replied curtly and drank the milk that was prepared for me tonight. I felt his eyes stay with me. I was only more afraid to look at him.

"We...lost Jules's scent again," he said which made me stop for a while. So, they didn't see Jules today?

"Then...what's your next plan?" I asked and tried to turn to him. I saw his brown eyes staring at me. They are soft and somewhat gentle. I missed those eyes looking at me. I couldn't stop staring at him like that. "Find the traitor," he said. I blinked twice.

"So...you believe Jules that there really is a traitor?" I asked carefully. He lowered his eyes. I saw his thick eyelashes.

"Because we cannot trace him properly, Athena. It's like he knows where we are going. He knows where to hide his scent. It means...someone is telling him where to hide...someone is helping him to escape from my claws," Damon said.

I can't stop worrying more. Then it is true that there is a traitor in this palace, and he may be very close to Damon. But by the time Damon finds out he may be hurt by what he discovers. Just thinking that the traitor is one of Damon's confidants, I can't stop hurting for Damon.

"Can I help you with anything Damon?" I asked hesitantly. I don't want to be a burden to him, but I also want to help him. His eyes went back to me. There are his melting eyes again.

"I just want you safe, Athena..." he said gently. He stood up to get closer to me. He knelt in front of me. I looked down at him. His eyes are staring at me like I am the only one who matters to him. And this is the look I wanted to see from him. Because I thought he didn't care about me anymore. I thought he forgot about me. And it scared me. Thinking that he'll forget me over revenge scared the shit out of me.

I caressed his jaw. I saw how he got affected by my touch. A small smile plastered on my lips.

"I thought I was slowly losing you, Damon. I was...so scared," I admitted. I saw the pain in his eyes. And it made my heart ache a bit. He held my hands and caressed them gently. Something touched my heart with what he did.

"You won't ever lose me, Athena. I'm always here for you, remember that." He said like a promise that will be engraved from the huge stone...forever.
