Although Chandra was vicious with her words, she couldn't stop the tears from falling down her cheeks.

"Since Charles isn't fit to be your child, so am I and so is Chris! All three of us aren't fit to be your children. We don't want to be your children, either!" Xyla yelled.

"You...you three..." Chandra pointed a trembling finger at Xyla. "All you ingrates, treating me like this just for the sake of an outsider, a vixen?! I sacrificed so much for this family, and this is how you're treating me?"

"If you murder someone for the sake of my so-called happiness, I'd rather do without such a sacrifice! I don't see this as a sacrifice, and I don't feel an ounce of happiness. All I feel is fear and pain. The fact that you're my blood-related mother has become a burden to carry my entire life. As your daughter, your sins keep me up at night."

Chandra's head buzzed with anger. She sat by the bedside and lamented helplessly, "Xyla, are you really going to treat me like this?"

"If you're going to treat me and Chris like this," Xyla replied, "don't blame me for being unfilial."

Chandra was dumbfounded with fury.

Xyla knelt on the floor and pleaded, "Mom, if you still see me as your daughter, hear me out. Not only is she from the Spencer family, but if she dies, the Spencers will eventually find you out. Even if you don't care about them, you can't not care about Chris. She's very important to him. Do you want him to be in pain for the rest of his life? Charles has already suffered so much, to the point he killed himself. I'm left with just one brother!"

"Haha..."

Chandra started chuckling wildly.

"What did that woman do to bewitch all of you? Your husband and Chris both are behaving like this. Even you, who have nothing to do with her, are speaking up for her! Why do all of you want to save her?"

"Mom. You think we're saving her,

but we're actually saving you, too." Xyla inched toward Xyla. "I'm begging you, Mom. Let Sydney go or I won't be able to rest in peace my entire life. I'll keep having

nightmares since you're doing this for me."

Chandra knew that no matter how furious she was, it was pointless.

She also knew she wasn't a decent person, but she didn't expect her children to be so much unlike her. They were behaving more like their father, who was an upright man.

"Xyla, have you ever considered that since Sydney already knows I was the one who took her and tormented her, letting her go would mean that I have no escape? If you truly have me in mind, stop saying such things."

"Mom. As long as she's alive, at least there's hope. If she dies, we'll lose all hope. Just tell me where she is right now, and we'll leave Chris to handle everything else. Don't you trust Chris' ability? I'm begging you!

"Mom, please," Xyla pleaded as she rested her head on Chandra's lap. "Let's go overseas and hide out. I'm begging you, Mom. I'll go with you It's been a while since we went on a holiday. We'll go together, I'll travel the world with you, okay? I'm

begging you!"

Chandra shook her head helplessly as she looked at her kind yet foolish daughter. "You're much too kind. No wonder Geoffrey had the chance to hurt you like he did."

"I had it coming. I fell so helplessly in

love with him when I was young. I did it all willingly. I don't blame

anyone. He treated me quite well et

after we got married, honestly. Even though he never truly loved me, at the very least, he treated me as his wife. We even had two children."

The mention of their children made Xyla think of Sebastian. Although she didn't give birth to Sebastian, she had raised him as though he was her

own.
