Wesley was drinking alone in a bar.

At that moment, he noticed that a female salesperson was being harassed.

He wasn't a nosy parker, but he noticed the lady was very resistant and no one was around to help her.

Wesley approached her and pulled her into his embrace, coldly warning the ones who were harassing her. "My girlfriend sells alcohol, not her body. Touch her, and don't blame me for being nasty."

The lady looked gratefully at him and didn't expose him for lying about their relationship.

Just like that, Wesley stopped the men from harassing the lady whom he then brought away.

Wesley was very drunk then, and he let her go before returning to the bar counter for more drinks. Toward the end, he was so wasted that he was knocked out cold.

The lady held him up, wanting to send him home. He had helped her out and she was filled with gratitude for him, after all. However, he was too drunk and she had no choice but to take him to the nearest hotel.

That was how they ended up sleeping together.

When Wesley woke up and found a woman lying next to him in bed, he was very upset. However, since what has happened has happened, he could only leave a note and a check behind.

He scribbled his number on the note. He wasn't intending to shirk responsibility after spending the night with her.

Later, she reached out to him to tell him that he shouldn't feel burdened by it.

They met again after that. He found out her name-she was called J Zeller.

Wesley thought she was of great character, and they clicked well with each other.

He liked her and dated her for a while, given his unhappy marriage and the cold war he was having with his first love. He even bought her a house.

However, their relationship lasted for

a mere month before he reconciled with his first love again. He broke up with J and went back to his first love.

Wesley buried this memory deep in his heart and never told anyone about it. J didn't tell anyone, either.

Just like that, they never met each other again.

However, he recalled that a few months later, J called him, wanting to meet him to tell him something.

At that time, Wesley's relationship

with his first love was in a good state and he felt guilty about having affairs with two women outside of his marriage. He didn't want people to know about it. Thus, he told J he wouldn't meet her.

If she wanted money, he could give her that, but he wanted a clean break between them.

He could remember J going silent for a long time before finally saying, "I'm sorry for bothering you. I'll never call you again."

From then on, they never contacted each other.

Wesley had always thought no one knew about their relationship. They had a clean break, and he was ready to bring this secret of his to the grave. But now, bumping into this neen-year-old lad made him think back on how J hemmed and hawed the last time she contacted him over the phone.

Was she pregnant and wanted to tell him about it, but he never gave her the chance to?

Although he was only with J for a month, he could sense that she was with him not for his money, but because she liked him as a person.

Knowing that he had let her down,

Wesley did feel guilty about it.

However, he couldn't give her

happiness. And so, he decided to be ruthless and leave her.

He left behind a check for twenty thousand dollars in hopes she would lead her life well. That was the only thing he could do for her. However, he didn't expect to hear about her passing.
