TEGAN'S P.O.V

It appeared we were getting nowhere. She looked at him and had no reaction. As if she didn't even know who he was. If he wasn't the man she was hiding her baby from then who was she hiding Darion from? I don't understand how she could recognize a baby, my baby, who I think looks nothing like Darion but doesn't recognize the adult version of that said baby or the man who helped create him. My father looked the same, only now with some aged wrinkles and salt-pepper hair.

It didn't help that he could no longer talk so he was unable to speak to her. If I had known then what I knew now...No, I still would've reacted how I did. He deserved it, he actually deserved more than that, truth be told. "Marci, do you recognize this man?" I asked as I approached.

"Don't be disrespectful, call her Mom." Darion tried demanding.

My eyes shot over to glare at him.

"Try demanding one more thing from me, Darion. Go on." I said in a sinister tone.

"Is that a threat?"

"Not even close. It's a promise. You will respect me in my home. I don't care who you think you are. I am the Queen and therefore I make the rules, I don't follow them."

I was so tired of these inconsiderate assholes who constantly thought that they could push the buttons they used to push. I'm not sure how much more destruction I needed to cause for them to understand I am not playing. I mean what I say.

"Not that I need to explain a damn thing to you, but I will call her Marci because she is already overwhelmed. If I called her Mom, how do you think she'd respond? Seems like she doesn't remember me." I asked him as if he were stupid. "I just feel like it's disrespectful." He countered.

"Not in this case, she doesn't remember us," I said as I took her hand in my own. Her tired and terrified eyes looked back at me.

"They found my baby." She repeated the same sentence she had been repeating.

"I'm right here, I'm okay," Darion said as he approached the bed.

"NO NO NO NO NO, YOU'RE NOT MY BABY!" Marci then began to scream.

I could see the pain behind his eyes as he backed away.

"Marci, look at me," I said in a louder tone to get her attention.

When her eyes met mine I could tell that she seemed so lost.

"Do you see that man right there?" I asked as I pointed at my father who stood off to the side of the bed.

Her eyes glanced over at him before looking back at me.

"Light eyes." She said as she shook her head yes.

"Do you know him?" I asked again, trying to poke around some more.

"I don't know the light-eyed man." She responded before speaking again. "Where is my baby?"

"Marci, I need you to listen okay?" I instead replied. "My name is Tegan. I am here to help you. Do you know what year it is?"

"1995." She answered quickly.

Well, at least we now know she is 28 years in the past. Which is 4 years before Darion's birth. So she for sure was not referring to Darion as her baby. But I'd never heard of another baby before him, this was news to me. And clearly, it was news to him as well because his entire face was sunken in with sadness. I looked back at our Mother before talking again.

"Can you tell me more about your baby?"

I figured at this point what was there to lose? She was already lost in a past memory that may or may not even be real. Why not try to understand it?

"He found him."

"Who did?"

"He was hidden. But he found him. I thought he was hidden, better." She was beginning to ramble, but that would only lead us nowhere. I needed her to stay on track.

"What was your baby's name?" I asked, trying to pull her back from the same path she kept taking.

"I see what you're doing, it won't work. I won't talk." She responded as she crossed her arms over her chest defensively.

"I just want to protect you, Marci."

"I am not worth that. I need him saved from him."

"I can't save him if I don't know who it is I am saving, or who I am saving him from."

She looked at me and her head turned sideways.

"You look like someone I should know." She then said, making my heart pound in my chest.

It was the first time she said anything outside of talking about her baby.

"You will know me, I promise," I said as I squeezed her hand reassuringly.

"Save Trystan. He is just an innocent boy." She said as tears began to flood her eyes.

"Is Trystan your baby boy?" I asked even though every rapid thought was screaming in my head.

"He never truly loved me, he just wanted my baby for power. If he finds him, he will destroy his innocence."

"Marci, who is this dark-powered man? What's his name?" I asked.

Kennedy had mentioned that she didn't think it was Iblis. But at this point, there was no way it was my father. The only other possibility was Iblis. Right?

"Dark power, dark eyes, the devil in disguise." She said as she looked from me to the window before speaking again.

"They found my baby. The dark man took him. He isn't safe."

We were now back in the continuous loop again and I knew I had lost the very little portion of sanity she had left. At least now I had a name. Well, one name. The only downfall was, it could be a dead end. I am sure there are so many other people by the name of Trystan in this world. But I had a name and a year. I could try to work with that.

Marci continued to ramble the same sentence when I decided to look over at my father who didn't look the slightest bit confused by her words.

"You know Trystan, don't you?" I asked, looking directly at him. His face sank when he realized that he gave an indication of any knowledge.

"Back to the meeting hall, NOW," I demanded as I grabbed his arm, pulling him in that direction. "You're going to tell me everything I need to know. Everything you know about this is no longer going to be a secret, it will be family knowledge. Do you understand?" I demanded as we made our way down the hallway.

Once we were behind the closed doors of the meeting room once again, we all looked at our father who was visibly sweating. Darion yanked off the piece of paper he had written on previously and crumbled it up before tossing it over his shoulder. He then slammed the pen down on the clean sheet of paper before looking back up.

"SPILL. ALL OF IT. DON'T LEAVE A SINGLE FUCKING DETAIL OUT!" He screamed, his body visibly shaking in anger.

I could understand his anger. Our father clearly knew something. Something he has kept a secret from us for our entire lives.

Did we have another brother we never knew about? If so, was he alive or better yet, safe?
