Chasing My Rejected Luna -
Chapter 126
TEGAN'S
P.O.V
I shifted through the paperwork she had in the tote. There were stacks and stacks of papers that all led us nowhere. I wished I knew exactly what it was that she was doing to find him. Anything that could lead us the right way. But all that has been found so far were papers of addresses to several homes in three different states. There was also the adoption paperwork mixed in as well, which was absolutely useless. It only stated it was a closed adoption. "This is all a bunch of nonsense. Why so many different addresses?" Fredrick asked as he sat a paper down.
"Let's start by separating each state and narrow down what her goal was?" I countered, thinking about what it was she was doing.
"There are like three states here," Darion said with a sigh.
"Well if we separate the states we can look into each pile to figure out what her thought process was," I replied as I began to separate the papers in my hand into piles.
I know I should be thinking about Iblis and what he was conspiring. Especially since I am certain he has an ulterior motive behind why he showed me my mother was alive and then sent her to assassinate me. It was most likely a distraction, which was obviously working.
Aside from this new distraction, all I did was train. Maybe this small distraction could help keep my mind leveled so that I was not super fixated on Iblis, as I had been for months now.
"Okay, now that it's all separated, what exactly do we do?" Darion asked as he stared at the stacks of sorted papers.
"Find the common denominator of each stack," I said as I pulled a pile toward me.
After some time had passed Darion let out a loud sigh.
"This is pointless, it's all just addresses. No side margins, no names. Only addresses." He said as he tossed the paper in his hand onto the table.
"What are we missing here?" I asked as I went through my stack again.
"Fred, you're an IT geek, punch these addresses into a computer and see what pops up," Darion said, making Fredrick roll his eyes in irritation.
"Wait, he has a point. If you type in the addresses and the year that she searched them, maybe Google can find the common denominator for us?" I asked, looking at Fredrick who was biting his lip in response.
"I may be able to, but with it being over 20 years ago, I am not sure what we will find," He said as he pulled his bag from under the table, taking out his laptop.
"Damn, you carry that with you everywhere?" Darion asked in amusement.
"Well yeah, I am an Alpha and our income is my job which is based on my computer," Fredrick responded as he logged into it.
"I am an Alpha too, but you don't see me walking around with a man purse and laptop."
"It's a satchel," Fredrick countered, defending his bag.
"Okay, whatever you say, nerd," Darion responded, poking the bear.
"Darion, leave him alone, at least his knowledge may be able to help us in this situation. I don't see you bringing anything to the table here."
"I brought Dad, who brought all this shit so I did something. Plus I don't see you contributing either."
We went back and forth for at least 30 minutes in a petty argument until Fredrick finally interrupted us.
"I think I found something."
"Well don't leave us waiting in anticipation. What is it?" Darion asked, now standing behind Fredrick peering down at his screen.
"Well, each address contained an adopted child. The ones with a slash near the addresses were her marking them off so we can discard those." He said looking at a few papers next to him. "That leaves us with these three. All located here in Colorado." He said laying the three papers out.
"Okay, so these are the potential addresses of where Trystan may have lived?" I asked.
"I assume so. I don't have a last name but I decided to give it a shot and hack the adoption agency she used which was on this paper here." He said waving the paper in the air before continuing on. "After hacking in I looked up his name and age. Then I used the date that's printed on the papers. By doing so, I was able to narrow it down to these three addresses."
"That's amazing," I responded in awe.
"But why did she go through all of this trouble? Why not just ask the adoption agency where he was placed?" Darion dumbly asked.
"Because when he was adopted it was a closed adoption, therefore Mom couldn't get any information even if she wanted," I responded instead of Fredrick since I had already seen the adoption paperwork and knew the answer.
"So that leaves us with three addresses, all here in Colorado," Fredrick said, waving the three papers in the air.
"It's been over twenty years. Who's to say they still live there?" I asked.
"We won't know unless we try," Darion said enthusiastically.
"Then it's final. We will go visit these homes and hope for the best," Fredrick replied with a huge smile on his face.
"We don't even know what he looks like. How will we know if it's him?" I asked.
"Well, Mom had thought Elias was Trystan. So I guess he must look similar to Elias. Black hair, green eyes. Something like that?" Fredrick suggested.
"Plus he is half wolf, We would smell it." Darion then said.
"His wolf is supposed to be dormant and a spell is cast on him to withhold it."
"He will still smell like a wolf, just like you did with your dormant wolf. Damn, y'all already have shit in common." Darion said with a chuckle. Although, I didn't find any humor in what he said.
"You couldn't have just said he would smell like Mom? Damn, Darion, always finding a way to be a dick," Fredrick said while putting his laptop away.
I hadn't thought about that. Even if Trystan didn't smell like a wolf, he would smell like Mom. This may be easier than I had expected it to be.
Once we were ready to set out, I went to give Ezra and Elias a kiss goodbye.
"I don't like you leaving here without me," Ezra said as if it would stop me.
"I am a powerful wolf, and I also have two Alpha brothers with me. I'll be fine." I responded only for him to pull me into a tight hug.
"I love you, Tegan. And Elias loves you. You're so loved here."
"You're talking like it's the last time you'll ever see me."
"I just want you to know that you are loved beyond measure, you don't need more family. Not if it risks you never coming home."
His words made me feel uneasy. But I had to do this, not only for me but also for our Mom. How else was I going to get the answers I needed from her?
"I love you both more than life itself. But I have to do this, Ez." I said before breaking away. "I'll be home for dinner. I promise." I said while blowing them both a kiss as I walked away.
Once in the car, Darion adjusted the rearview mirror before his eyes connected with mine.
"Are you ready to find our hidden Brother?" He asked, knowing damn well I was ready.
