Chasing My Rejected Luna -
Chapter 89
EZRA'S
P.O.V
After a tireless two weeks of planning, it was finally coming to an end. It was rough, I won't lie. We were all exhausted and my staff deserved the night off after the hard work they put into helping us with such a big task.
When Tegan arrived she looked surprised to see the ballroom completely decorated. When she retired for the night, we had the decorations on the stage but nothing done. Me and my staff worked all night to get the ballroom done. A token of my gratitude for Tegan's help, without her and the staff, this could not be possible.
"Holy crap. This took all night." She said in awe.
I looked around at all the hard work we did, happy with the results. We went with tall tables so the guests would have to stand and mingle rather than sit and not. We of course accommodated chairs off to the side, but overall the idea was to mingle. The tables were covered with long white table cloths with light blue lights underneath. Each table had a glass vase with light blue and clear pebbles at the bottom, water between with a floating candle on top. Flower petals were scattered around the vase to give it a little more jazz. The structured pillars in the room had Eucalyptus garland on them, which wrapped around from the bottom to the top. The ceilings had fairy lights dangling from the low structures across the room, giving it a warm feel. We decided to add a long crystal chandelier in the middle of the ballroom. The lights simmering in them gave the room a more glowing effect. It was beyond anything I could have ever come up with on my own. I was so thankful to have had Tegan and all the staff's help to make the Winter Ball as magnificent as any year prior, if not better.
"I gave the staff the day off, they helped all night." I said, taking my eyes from the room to look at her.
"They deserve it, especially after all I put them through these last couple weeks."
"I figured getting it done early would leave the day before the interviews for us to prepare for them. I know you're nervous and I didn't want you to feel underprepared for them." I said honestly.
"That was thoughtful of you." She then said looking at me. "But you haven't slept, how are you going to make it?"
"I figured I could take a nap while you go get pampered. I already have the spa booked, a massage booked, and a nail appointment booked. While you go get pampered, I'll nap. That will give me plenty of time to rest. I don't need much. However, once you're done and I am refreshed with a few hours of shut-eye then we can focus on preparing."
Her eyes were almost bulging out of her eye socket with surprise.
"What? I can be thoughtful." I said, nudging her. "It's my way of saying thank you for saving me." I meant that in so many more ways than the Ball.
"I don't even know what to say."
"You don't have to say a thing. Just go enjoy yourself. Elias will be with me, so you just take the day to relax. You deserve that much after all you've done."
A smile spread across her face before she smashed her body against mine in a tight embrace. The small electric shocks still present from her never accepting my rejection. Which made my wolf howl in pleasure for being in his mate's embrace.
"When is the appointment?" She asked, slowly pulling away.
I looked at the watch on my wrist, now being 5 minutes till.
"You should head there now."
She quickly hugged me again before darting away. I took one last look around the room, admiring their ideas and hard work before heading back to my suite for a few hours. Luckily, Elias was still on his newborn sleep schedule so when we got to the room he was already ready for some sleep, like me. I laid him down in my bed, barricading him with pillows before taking my place next to him. Once he was fast asleep I drifted off myself, exhausted.
I woke up to the familiar weird blackness. Guess I was having another one of those awful dreams that I couldn't escape.
"NO. STOP. PLEASE!" I heard a voice screaming in the distance.
I walked in the direction of the screams. The voice sounded so familiar but for some reason I couldn't put a face to it.
Soon the blackness morphed into a room, one I could easily pinpoint as a t*****e chamber. A bloodied body was chained to a wall, their arms above their heads while their legs were pulled apart chained too. I could tell it was a woman because the clothes she wore were ripped to shreds leaving her body on display. Her head hung low while soft whimpers escaped from her mouth.
Next to her sat a table full of bloody utensils, utensils used to torture her I assume. I walked closer to see who it was. When I stood directly in front of her, she snapped her head up, making my heart pound in my chest. She looked terrified, looking directly at me. "Please don't... I don't know anything, please..." She begged me. But I had no plans of hurting her.
"Oh darling, that is where you are wrong. You know more, I just have to pluck that little brain of yours in the right place to trigger those memories." A sinister voice said from behind me.
I quickly turned around to see a tiny man with glasses on. He walked towards us. Obviously he didn't see me because he stopped in front of me, never looking up at me, only through me at her.
"The Demon Lord wants information he knows you have. That's where I come into play. I am the extractor, the procurer of information. You see, the brian has a funny way of holding information that we didn't even know we had. That's what I will retrieve." "Please don't kill me. I will do anything, please..." She begged.
"Oh darling, it's too late. We are only interested in that brain now." The mad man said as he picked up a utensil walking forward. His body walked right through my own.
"I hate to ruin that pretty little face. No worries, it won't go to waste. I'll save it for my collection." He said as his scalpel dug into the side of her face, filling the room with screams of agony.
"EZRA!" I heard my name being holler out.
"LYDIA!" I screamed. Waking myself from the sounds of my own voice. I abruptly sat up in the bed, drenched in sweat.
"Lydia? Were you seriously dreaming of her!?" Tegan's voice asked angrily.
But it wasn't what she thought. Yes, I was dreaming of her. But not the way she was thinking.
What did the Demon Lord think she knew for him to torture her so brutely?
