Chapter 28

No One’s POV

She heard Zayden sigh over something and looked at him. She was about to ask what happened when he himself started elaborating.

“Look sweetheart, I know, our wedding didn’t happen as you must have dreamt your wedding to happen. And trust me, I wanted the wedding to be grand. But…you were trying to…get away from me. And I have told you this before, I can’t afford to lose you…I am trying to make this marriage work and I can’t do this alone. I need your support in this. Are you getting my point?”, He asked to which Grace gulped and nodded. This time, she felt like she was a student, and Zayden, being her teacher, was taking her class. “I can sense, you wanted to ask something.”

Grace quickly nodded her head. “How..How did you find out about my marriage? I mean everything was on such short notice.”, She asked nervously.

Zayden chuckled at her question. “I expected you to ask this question yesterday itself. But it’s okay if my wife is nuts.”, He joked, trying to ease her mood, which actually worked.

“I am not nuts!”, She defended herself, glaring at him.

Zayden raised his hand in surrender jokingly. “Sorry, sweetheart! Forgive me for saying THAT to you. And about your question, why don’t you try yourself? I am sure you will figure that on your own.”

Grace thought for a while but still couldn’t figure out how he would have known about her marriage.

“Fine. Time’s up! Do you remember the night when I came to pick you up for the first time?”, He asked. Grace nodded.

‘How could I forget that night? After all, I had witnessed a wolf changing into a human!’, She thought.

“How do you think, I knew that you were planning to ditch me, by leaving an hour earlier?”, He asked smilingly.

“Ummm…for a while, I…I thought you have the power to read minds, just like Vampires.”, She said, on which Zayden started laughing.

“Wow! Seems like you are a fan of Vampire but trust me sweetheart. I am clearly not a vampire but their enemies.I came to know about that because of the owner of your restaurant.”

“Him?”, She asked in shock.

“Hmm. I knew you would do something to run away from me, so I had already paid a large sum of money to him to report each and every movement of yours.”, He said and Grace quickly understood how Zayden would have found out about her marriage because she had informed him that she would be able to continue her job anymore as she was getting married. “I so much wanted to kill your father when I came to know that he was behind everything.”, He added, thinking about her father.

“But..But y.you won’t hurt him, right?”, She asked hesitatingly.

“Never. I know I am a bad guy but I will never hurt anyone who is emotionally attached to you.”, He said.

“Why?”, She asked innocently.

Zayden chuckled. “Isn’t it obvious? I love you, sweetheart.”, he confessed bluntly. Grace blushed furiously at this.

‘Why does he have to be so blunt?’,

‘Stop blushing Grace. Have you forgotten what he did to your family? Your father hates you because of him.’ Her mind taunted her and she lowered her head in embarrassment. She started missing her family. She was to talk to her mother. But above all, she wanted to see her father. She wanted his forgiveness, even if it was not her fault.

‘What have you done, Zayden? I can never forgive you for what you have done.’, A lone tear escaped her eyes when she recalled what her father told her after the wedding. How could she ever forget that! Ever! She didn’t even realize that a tear had escaped when Zayden interrupted her thoughts.

“Why are you crying, sweetheart? He asked.

She looked at him surprisingly and shook her head. “No…nothing.”,

Zayden cupped her face in his palm. “Please tell me.”, He asked her again. She couldn’t stop herself now.

“I miss my family. And my papa is…angry with me. I didn’t even do…anything.”, She said, trying to control her feelings. Even though she hated to lean on him now, but she needed comfort. And he was providing her comfort. He soothed her back, saying sweet things.

“It’s okay, sweetheart. It’s perfectly fine to miss your family. This is why I have one more surprise for you.”, He said.

This outraged Grace.

‘Here I am talking about my family and he is planning to give one more stupid surprise and his jewellary!’, She thought. She was disgusted and upset. She wanted to see her family. But, Zayden wouldn’t understand that. ‘How can somebody be so stupid!’, She thought.

“Sir, they are here.”, Both heard the voice of Eric. Grace quickly pulled out from Zayden’s arm to look at him but was surprised to see her family, standing behind Eric, who was also looking at her with wide eyes. It seemed like they had seen her in Zayden’s arms.

“Mom, Dad, Blake!”

Grace looked at Zayden in shock. ‘Did he really call them? Of course he would have.’, She thought. Zayden snaked his arm on her waist and walked toward her parents without saying anything. He removed his hand from her waist and extended it in front of her father to shake.

“Thank you for coming here, Mr. Felton, or should I call you ‘Dad’!”, He said, trying to lighten the mood. Grace knew that Zayden was just trying to act like a gentleman but she was thankful for that.

Grace’s father didn’t take his hand and looked away from him. Zayden clenched his jaw in anger as he realized he was insulting him. Even his wolf didn’t like that. But he didn’t do anything, as he had promised his wife that he wouldn’t hurt her loved ones. He lowered his hand angrily and Grace gulped in fear, wondering what he would do in anger. She sighed in relief, as he didn’t do anything.

“Please come.”, Zayden said with a tightened jaw, and eyes fixed on the floor with rage. He knew that his wolf was trying to gain control because of which the color of his eyes was changing.

Her family started walking inside and gaped at the view of the interior view of the villa. Her mother and brother looked everywhere in surprise, while her father was staring at Zayden who was looking at the floor.

Grace had already observed how Zayden’s eyes were getting changed and thought to calm him down before it got too late. She intertwined her hand with his with a little hope that he wouldn’t harm her even though he was angry and thankfully it worked. Zayden looked at her and gave her a fake smile.

“Sweetheart, please bring the coffee or tea, whatever your parents like, for them.”, Zayden said politely. Grace’s eyes widened as she realized he called her SWEETHEART in front of her father and brother.

‘I need to talk with him regarding this.’, She thought and nodded in response.

Zayden patted her brother’s head in a friendly manner to initiate the conversation but before he could have said anything, her father pulled Blake between him and his wife because he thought Zayden could make Blake just like him. Zayden sighed in defeat and shook his head in disbelief!

“How are you, Blake?”

“I am good. Thank you.”

“Zayden, can you please join me in the kitchen because I have no idea where all the things are kept.”, Grace said to talk with him especially over the topic of SWEETHEART.

“Sure, sweetheart!”, Zayden smiled and walked toward the kitchen while Grace lowered her head in embarrassment. After a while, she even followed him. When they reached the kitchen, Grace stared at the beauty of the kitchen. It was so beautiful and big… But, she quickly came out of the trance when Zayden placed milk, coffee, sugar, etc in front of her.

“Umm..Zayden”, She called his name to get his attention because he was busy in the small kitchen work assigned to him. He instantly looked at her.

“Yes, sweetheart?”, He asked. Grace closed her eyes.

“Not again..”, She whispered. “Can you please not call me ‘SWEETHEART’ in front of my family? Please!”, She requested calmly.

“And why is it so?”, He asked, raising his eyebrow.

“Because I don’t like it.”, She reasoned.

“But I don’t find any problem with that. You are sweet by heart, so I don’t mind calling you sweetheart. What’s wrong with it?”, He asked, trying to control his laugh.

‘Aaaahhh…. He is really getting into my nerves.’, Grace thought but quickly hid her anger with another sweet and calm voice.

“Can you please do as I say?”, She requested.

Zayden didn’t say anything. He just smiled and Grace wondered why he was smiling. Grace started preparing the coffee just like her mother and father used to drink. She would have prepared something for Blake as well but her eyes landed on the breakfast and cold coffee which Zayden had ordered from the restaurant. So, she didn’t have to prepare anything. It’s not like she didn’t like doing the household activity but at this moment, she wanted to spend time with her family.

“Won’t you prepare coffee for me, sweetheart?”, He said, stressing on Sweetheart. Grace sighed in defeat and mentally cursed herself for preparing just two cups of coffee.

“Aaa…I was going to prepare tea for myself. Would you like to have tea or coffee?”, She asked.

“Anything you will serve, sweetheart.”, He stressed on sweetheart again, to irritate Grace again.

‘He is never going to change, especially not for me.’, She concluded.

Once, Grace poured coffee in the mug. Zayden placed the cups and cold coffee on a tray and advanced toward the living room.

“Come soon, sweetheart. I will wait for you and the tea made by you.”, He said and saw Grace narrowing her eyes in anger, he couldn’t stop himself from chuckling.

After a while, Grace came up with another tray with two cups of tea and saw her brother looking at the beauty of the villa with interest.

‘I know he wants have a tour of the villa, but this is not my place so I can’t ask him to do that.’, She thought until she heard.

“Blake, why don’t you go and have a tour of the villa? Except on the second floor.”, Zayden said.

“Really? I can?”, Blake asked, getting excited.

“Yes”, Blake didn’t waste a single second and left from there.

“So, you are trying to win my son’s heart just like you won my daughter’s heart? Guess what! My son is not greedy like her.”, Her father said or say accused Grace of being greedy. She looked at her father sadly and her eyes soon moistened without her permission. Zayden saw that gripped the arm of the chair in anger, controlling his wolf to roar at him in anger.

“Mr. Felton, I need to talk with you, alone.”, He stated and looked at Grace and her mother. “Grace, take your mother to your room. You can talk with them about whatever you want. I have some unfinished business with your father.”, Zayden said. Grace tried to protest when he gave her a frustrated look.

That’s when she realized that he was calling her by her name instead of ‘sweetheart’ in front of her parents.

‘Did he really take my words into consideration?’, She thought.

“Now…Please”, He added please, to insult her in front of her family. Grace nodded and guided her mother toward her room upstairs.

When Zayden and Grace’s father was alone, Her father started the conversation.

“If you think I am afraid of you then you are wrong.”, Her father said.

“There is a thin line between bravery and stupidity and trust me, Mr. Felton, you are close to another line.”, He said, chuckling. “Do you know why you are still alive, Mr Felton? Because of your daughter, who happens to be very precious to me. And, I am glad that you love her a lot.The kind of treatment you are giving to your daughter, is totally unacceptable by me….You should know that I can’t see my wife getting insulted by her father or not.”, Zayden said in a low but threatening tone.

“That was not marriage! This marriage is against the law. If you were so interested in marrying Grace then you could have talked with me instead of kidnapping my family.”

“I know what I did was not right and is unforgivable. But trust me, I was planning to do so, in fact I had shared my plans with Grace as well but you were too eager to plan the wedding. It was your fault because of which I did something like this. And above all, I can clearly see that it was our fault. You took decision for Grace that she should marry without knowing about her wish and I forced my decision on Grace that she should marry me without knowing about her wish. I feel bad for her that she fell in this mess without any mistake.”
