Chapter 56

Third Person’s POV

“I can’t believe that you lied so smoothly that even I couldn’t smell it.”, Zayden said as he held her from behind while engulfing her in his embrace, his tongue licking her neck. They were back to her room after playing truth and dare.

“What? What lies?”, She asked, getting confused.

“The lie which you spoke in front of everyone, that ‘You like me’. Thank you for saving me from embarrassment today.”, he said as he licked her neck.

Grace frowned at his words. She disentangled his hands from her waist and turned around to meet his eyes.

“Zayden, I didn’t lie. Whatever I said there was the truth.”, she said honestly, stressing at the word ‘truth’.

When Sarah had asked her whether she loves her husband, she didn’t know what to say for a while. All she knew was that she couldn’t let down her husband who had done so much for her and her family. She couldn’t let him be embarrassed in front of her family as well as his family. So, she replied ‘I like him’.

And it was the truth. She didn’t just say that word to save Zayden from embarrassment.

Zayden looked at her with a confused expression. He thought she said so, just to save his man ego.

“You mean….”, he tried to say but she completed it.

“Yes. I really like you.. And I am not saying this just for the sake of saying. It’s true. All these days, I…I have developed this feeling for you. You have always been there for me. And, now that I recall the time that we have spent together, I have found out that no matter what, I can’t stop myself from liking you.”, she admitted and was surprised by what she just confessed. But, she knew that it was to be done, or else their marriage would hang onto a series of question marks.

‘I told you that she will fall in love with us one day. See, finally she started liking us.’, Dominic said.

To say he was shocked would be an understatement. But, he composed himself and his heart was happy. He smiled again and cupped her face.

“Then why can’t you love me?”, he asked. His desperation for her love was evident in his actions. He wanted her to revert his feelings. He wanted to know…to feel how love feels like?

“Because I know nothing about you and your past.”

“Sweetheart, there is a reason why I am not telling you all those things. There are some things which are meant to be hidden. You don’t have to know them.”, he said while walking towards the core of her room. She knew that he was again trying to change the topic as usual.

“Maybe you are right but I want to know them. When somebody asks about you, I am always blank. Even an outsider knows you better than me! Do you know how much it hurts!”, she said sadly, while watching his back. Obviously, her words were intended towards Sarah.

An eerie silence masked over them. Both didn’t say anything to each other for a while. Grace sighed and walked toward the window to look outside. Only a few minutes were left for his birthday and she started this stupid conversation, making both of them feeling uncomfortable, she wondered. She felt him stand behind her.

Zayden knew that Grace deserved to know the truth. He wasn’t ready to share the past. But he also knew that he couldn’t hide it from her for long.

He rested his head on her shoulder and took a deep breath of her fragrance. It soothed him. Grace didn’t complain either. She leaned more on his chest and quite bravely took his hands in hers.

Her eyes fell on their attached hands. His hands felt so big and rough compared to her and that alone made her chuckle.

“What happened?”, Zayden asked, amused by her reaction.

“Your hands are so big!” , She said, looking at their hands. He looked down too and admitted it.

“Yeah. But I have something bigger than that. Do you want to see?”, He joked to lighten the tense mood. Grace’s eyes widened automatically as she understood his double-meaning words. She tried to get her hand back from him, but he immediately held it in a strong grip.

“Not so easily.”, He said as she still tried to take her hands back.

“You are such a pervert.”, she complained in his earlier comment. Zayden laughed and looked at her glaring eyes which brought desire in him. “Happy birthday, Pervert”, she wished, still glaring at him.

“Thank you, sweetheart.”

Before she knew or could do anything, his lips were on hers. Grace immediately closed her eyes and gave in to the k**s. She placed one hand on his right arm and the other on his chest. She tried to match his pace but failed terribly when he started kissing her more intensely. He pressed himself more on her as he deepened the k**s. She felt his hand move from her face to her waist. She managed to somehow break the k**s and breathe.

While she stood flat against the wall and breathed, Zayden descended down and started kissing her jawline followed by her neck. While Grace breathed, she couldn’t help but feel his lips on her bare skin. It felt so good and right to her. A few weeks ago, she despised his touches. But now, she wanted him. Perhaps, wanted more of him, her consciousness thought.

Without Zayden’s knowledge, Dominic took control over him and found a perfect moment to claim Grace as his own. He first licked her neck and was ready to mark her.

Grace, who was enjoying the attention that he gave her, opened her eyes from the blissful moment. Since Zayden was slightly bent in order to mark her, she could see the door over his shoulder. Her eyes fell on a figure standing on the door looking straight at them. At first, she thought she had imagined it. But, looking in that direction keenly, she realized that someone was indeed standing there.

“Sarah.”, She exclaimed with a flushed face and quickly pushed Zayden from her such that he stumbled back but quickly gained balance. Zayden looked behind to see if Grace was kidding to push him away but nope, Sarah was there. But when he saw Sarah standing at the doorway with a shocked expression, he couldn’t help but glare at her.

“What are you doing here? We had asked you to call him.”, They heard Allison’s voice, and then she knocked on the door. “Bro, Can we come in?”

Zayden walked toward the door and the moment he opened the door completely, Allison and Blake almost screamed the birthday song, while he closed his ear with his hand. Grace laughed at their childishness.

After that, Sarah, Gia, Gina, her mother, and lastly her father, wished him a happy birthday. They asked him to come to the living room, where they had planned a little surprise for him. Everything was new for Zayden because he had never celebrated a birthday before in fact, he didn’t like celebrating it at all. But, Grace had no idea about it.
