AMERY

.

"What can you see?" Levi asked a few minutes into our connection to search for Asher.

"Nothing." I breathed out a reply. "Everywhere is dark and scary and I can't see anything."

"Try to connect to him Amery, like you did that day in our realm when you called for me to help you and Quincy." He pressed.

"I'm trying." I whispered through gritted teeth as I focused my attention on getting to Asher. All I could see was a big room empty room painted with white pristine colors, that were shimmering and untainted. They looked so bright and so beautiful but what baffled me was the fact that there was no sunlight seering into the room from any corner.

There was no unfiltered hole or any place that could actually let sunlight in so why was it so bright? the more I tried to focus on Asher, the more I found it difficult to picture him In my mind.

I stared at the four corners of the room and a door suddenly appeared. Just as I was about to question its existence and how it had appeared out of nowhere, I heard a faint knock on the door.

At first I froze. How was it possible that someone was knocking in my very own subconscious? Could it be Asher? Was he trying to reach out to me? With that thought in mind, I slowly and cautiously took unhurried step closer to the door.

With each step I placed before the other, my mind kept on giving me signals and warning me not to take another step forward. Part of me told me that it was a trap and that I shouldn't open the door but then another part kept on reminding me that it would be Asher who was trying to reach in.

I held onto the door knob and gave it a little twist. The door gave way and I immediately pulled it open but to the greatest shock of my life, I am met with none other than Levi. He held a shredded glass in one hand that had already dug into his flesh which was causing him to bleed profusely from his palm. He looked at me with cold and dark eyes that spelt nothing but Anger, rage and bitterness.

"L-Levi?" I stuttered in fright, my own fears suddenly crept up my body and settled there. I had never seen this look of him before. "Y-You're not supposed t-to be h-here."

I took a step back and with every single movement backwards, he followed till he was finally inside the room. Slowly, the white beautiful untainted walls started turning to red. I became scared and very much alarmed. This had never happened to me before so why now?

My fears arose from within but I fought hard to subdue them and focus my attention on the bleeding Levi. "Your hands are bleeding. What happened to you? Let me help." I reached out to hold his hands but he grabbed me by my collar and pinned me down to the nearest wall. His hands were firmly held on my neck, choking the life out of me. He lifted up the glass and just as he was about to stab me, I screamed and immediately tore off the blindfold from my eyes.

I tried to run away but I ended up in someone's arms. "It's okay... it's okay I've got you." I heard his voice repeatedly. Took me a minute or two to realize that it was none other than Levi's voice. He was the one who had caught me as soon as I came out from my trance.

"He's coming to g-get me." I mumbled to myself over and over again as I clung onto him like glue. "He's a monster." I chanted repeatedly but he didn't let go till I had calmed down a bit.

I pulled away from him slowly. My damp and sticky hair stuck to my sweaty face but Levi didn't seem to mind. Instead, he tucked my stray hair behind my ears as he waited patiently for me to calm down.

"What happened? What did you see?" He questioned after a long minute of silence. I raised up my face to look at him. I don't know if what I saw was a vision or just an imaginary part of my subconscious but it felt so real to the point of making me wonder if it was truly Levi or not.

"Amery?" He shook me again. "You're being quiet. Did something happen? Did you see Asher? Were you able to get through to him? And why did you scream? Was someone attacking you over there?"

I looked at him, speechless. I don't know what to say and I don't think I wanted to tell him that I met the psycho part of him in my subconscious who had tried to kill me. "Would you at least say something? You're scaring me."

"I was able to channel my wolf like you told me to and I found myself in a room but I didn't see Asher." I relieved the dreaded reverie to him. "Instead, I found a door that appeared out of nowhere and I opened it, I saw you instead." "Me?" He pointed to himself in disbelief. "Why would I be there?"

"I don't know but that's what I saw and I won't lie about it." I told him truthfully, purposefully leaving out the part where he was a maniac who had walked in bleeding and intended to kill me before I snapped back to reality.

"Did I do anything, in your subconscious?" He asked out of the blue and I froze, goosebumps popping out of my skin like a new found disease or virus. I was beyond scared. The last time I had seen Levi like this was when he released his wolves to attack me but that was before. He was different now so why did he try to attack me?

"You didn't." I lied "You just walked in and smiled at me."

"Then why did you scream?" He questioned with curious eyes. "I had been trying to pull you out of there but you wouldn't budge because you kept on screaming and yelling words that I couldn't understand."

I chuckled. "I was surprised to see you there. And besides, you were with your wolves and I got scared. You know how much those beasts terrify me. They kept on pouncing on me and I couldn't help but scream. I'm sorry."

He sighed deeply. "That's a relief. So you weren't able to find a single trace of Asher. You couldn't connect to him."

"I couldn't." I whispered sadly. "I couldn't connect to him. There was no train of thoughts, no emotions, no breathing, no sign of life, no NOTHING! It's like he never existed at all." I placed my head on my palm and wept profusely. This was not the kind of feedback I expected to have when I decided to search for him.

What if he was kidnapped, killed or worse? What if he had met his worse fate. I couldn't help but think about the worst case scenarios.

I felt strong pair of hands on mine and with teary eyes, I slowly lifted up my face to meet Levi's compelling ones.

"Why couldn't I find him Levi?" I cried some more. "I did everything you asked me to so why couldn't I get through to him?"

"My guess is, you've either lost connection with him or he has blocked you out of his mind completely so that you wouldn't be able to find him even if you tried." He explained in a calm but firm voice.

I shook my head negatively. "Asher would never block me out of his mind. He knows just how much I care about him so he wouldn't dare to do that."

"That's the only reason for a mind link to fail. Asher is a powerful wolf so if he doesn't want to be found, he won't be and it has nothing to do with you Amery so don't beat yourself up about it." He collected the tears that fell from my eyes and wiped them away. I hiccupped continuously and he gathered me into his hands. He rocked and cradled me slowly till I was slowly coming back to normal.

He pushed my hair backwards. "Do you feel a lot better now?" He whispered against my face and I melted into his embrace. It felt so nice to have him hold me so tightly.

"I feel better. Thank you so much Levi." I hugged him and he wrapped his hands around me. He ran his fingers on my lips and dipped his head to take my lips in a fervent kiss. I gave into him without putting up a fight. He pulled away afterwards.

"We will find Asher, so don't worry." He said in a solemn promise and I nodded in affirmation. I still can't believe that this was the same person who had tried to kill me. Does the vision mean something else or am I just overthinking things?
