ASHER

·

I lay down sprawled on the bed as my eyes were fixated on the ceiling above me. Last night's incident got me thinking about a whole lot of things. My mind was a whirlwind of emotions and I was struggling to keep my thoughts afloat because they overwhelmed me to a fault. As much as I don't want to say that Levi had a point in what he said to me, he actually did. What exactly was I doing? I should be trying to get Amery's attention instead of pushing her away from me.

I should be fighting to make her mine instead of telling her off. My anger and stupidity had almost cost me my identity in this place. I had brought Natasha into the mix and as if it wasn't worse, she had seen me for who I am which puts us more at risk and in danger. Who the hell told me that I needed a mere human to carry out a wolf's job?

She had so wanted to get back at Amery at all costs that she was willing to use me and I also agreed to it as well. I got caught up in her games and I almost lost Amery in the process despite all her attempts to win me over.

If I had just gone ahead to handle the situation by myself then none of this would have been happening right now but no, I decided to make it worse and now, I'm paying the price for my actions. I need to fix this. I need to make it up to Amery. I need to have her to myself and I'm going to win the bet against my brothers and prove myself to everyone and my father. I can't let Levi or anyone win over me, I definitely won't.

With the newfound drive and resolution, I rolled out of bed and quickly wore my clothes. I dashed out of the cabin and as I made my way towards Amery's cabin when I bumped into Natasha who was heading for her cabin. Lights out was ten minutes ago so I was guessing that she was headed back to her cabin for the night. Come to think of it, I haven't seen her all day after the incident that took place last night between us. At first, when she saw me she panicked but quickly composed herself. I walk past her but her words stopped me.

"I know what I saw Asher." It concurred in a more articulated and straightforward manner that had me thinking about her newfound bravery and courage.

"I know what I saw and you know that I am not crazy." She stated and I turned to look at her. "You might have everyone fooled but not me because I know the truth."

"You are not human. I don't know what you are but you are not one of us." She declared with a solemn expression on her face. "You might look like us and you might act like us but we both know it's nothing but a facade."

I made to take a step forward towards her but she took one backwards. She was obviously scared and it excited me. It excites my wolf when we perceive someone's fear. It reminds us that we are the predators and they will forever remain the prey. My wolf prowled and pounced inside me at the newfound excitement.

"Why don't you come closer and say it to my face Natasha?" I challenged. "Or are you scared that something might happen to you?"

"You can't do anything to me while I am on this ground. Because if you do then everyone is going to find out about your secret that you are trying so desperately to hide from them." She divulged and I rolled my eyes at her audacity.

"You used to love me Natasha so what changed all of a sudden?" I mocked and she squeezed her face in a tight scrawl. Her fists clenched tightly beside her.

"You're a monster and just so you know, I'm onto you and your brothers because I know that you're all the same." She threatened. "I am going to expose you in front of everyone and the entire school and I am going to make them see you for who you truly are. Everyone might think that I'm crazy now but it's only a matter of time before they see who the crazy one is." She glared at me one last time before storming off.

I am fighting the urge to chase after her, grab her by the hair and make her eat her words but I simply can't. Not today and not now because I have a bigger .cafish to fry and more important things to take care of.

I head towards Amery's cabin and knocked on the door. Minutes later, someone answered but it wasn't Amery. It was a girl who I assumed to be her cabin mate. She froze when she saw me and I could see the fear in her eyes as she stared right back at me. She held onto the door for support as she looked away.

"Where is she?" I asked right away.

"S-She's not here." She stuttered. Her breath comes in pants as if she's about to pass out anytime soon. I couldn't tell why she was acting scared when I haven't done anything to her. I don't even know her.

"Where did she go?" I inquired.

"Your brother...I m-mean Levi. She went out with him not too long ago."

"He was here? And he took her out?" It came out as a statement instead of a question.

"Yes." She answered and I walked away, leaving her to shut the door. Levi had gone out with Amery after lights out with no supervision. This was not a good sign. It felt like that day in the forest over again. I am having a bad feeling about this.

Why would he take her out and why? What was he planning this time around? Levi might come off to everyone as a good person who could do no harm but I can see right through him. He was not who he painted himself to be.

I am about to head out when I caught sight of his cabin so I decided to take a look. If he was planning something then I most definitely would get a clue If I snoop around for things.

I snuck in. Making sure to not get caught by anyone. I rummaged through his room, making sure to turn everything upside down and that's when I caught sight of his bag. I poured the contents on the bed and I saw a bottle sealed with torn clothes roll out alongside the other items.

Curious, I picked it up to examine the contents. I opened the bottle and the smell hit my nose in a matter of seconds. My wolf retreated inside me and remained there. My eyes widened In shock when my brain registered what I was holding in my hands. It's Sieggaria leaves mixed with monkshood. A deadly poison that can kill your wolf and incapacitate you in a matter of minutes before wiping you out, cold.

In the past, they were used to kill wild ones that roamed free in the forest but were destroyed during the reign of my grandfather because they were said to have the ability to wipe out an entire pack if not handled properly. I had even thought that they had gone extinct so how did levi come to be in possession of one?

What exactly is Levi doing with something like this? And why was the bottle half empty? A shocked gasp escaped my lips when the dots finally started to come together and the pieces of the puzzle started to make sense. He is planning to kill Amery, forever.
