Claimed By My Three Alphas -
Chapter 144
"He brought you here because he wanted to kill you. Your drink was spiked and if you had drank it, you would've died dammit!!" Asher's words were followed by a punch in Levi's gut. Amery could barely believe her ears. It was like time had frozen still and remained there. Everything around her felt strange and the whole world seemed to be spinning in front of her very eyes.
"Levi had tried to kill me...Levi had tried to poison me." Those were the only words that kept on repeating In her brain over and over again like a broken radio. The dinner date tonight, the confession, the pouring his heart to her about his mother, the emotions he spilt to her, all of it was nothing but a lie. It was like the forest scene was playing like a movie, only this time, she was still the main character, reliving everything and no one else.
"H-How..." She trailed off to ask a question but her voice betrayed her. She had not expected this from him at all. She had not expected him to do this to her. She stared at him, hoping that he would dispute whatever Asher had said. Hoping that he would tell her that Asher was lying and that it was all in her head but he was silent. He didn't utter a single word. Not even a squeak.
"I don't believe him." She said at last, shocking both brothers. The tears gathered in her eyes and settled there but she shook her head and they fell off her eyes in droplets. "I don't believe him, Levi. I won't believe him until you tell me yourself that it is the truth." "He's right." Levi blurted out, unapologetic. His words were unremorseful. "I did try to kill you tonight."
"That is not the truth. You-"
"And that's your problem, Amery. You're too trusting and you always want to see the good in people. I am not a saint and I've mentioned it to you before. I will do anything that I can to get you out of the way and you should know that by now." He said firmly and Amery couldn't believe her ears. He wasn't even trying to deny it. He was saying it to her face.
"You would n-never try to hurt me. You promised that you won't so tell me, Levi, tell me that Asher is lying and I'm going to believe you." She pleaded as the tears fell freely from her eyes. He had changed. She could swear that she had seen the signs that he was changing so how could he do something like that to her?
Levi on the other hand felt his world crumbling around him as he watched her lose herself to despair. His jaw ticked in anger and pain as he clenched his fists beside him. Part of him had died and he knew that no matter what he said or did at this point would not matter. She had already formed an opinion of him so he won't try to change her mind about it.
"I never wanted to do it. I swear I didn't" Levi confessed. "At first I thought that it was the right thing to do but I couldn't. I wanted to stop you but, it was already too late to do so."
"Amery-" Asher tried to hold her but she yanked her hands away from his grip and approached Levi. She stood in front of him, bridging the gap between them.
"Remember that you promised me.." She yelled, wiping the tears from her eyes aggressively. "I asked you and you told me yourself that you won't hurt me. You apologized and you promised to have dinner with me, Levi. You brought me here because you wanted to spend time with me right? Tell Asher that he's lying. Tell me that it's not what I think." She begged desperately but he remained silent.
"I'm sorry."
"You're not sorry." She screamed. "You have been planning this all these while. The story about your mother, the s*x... none of it meant anything to you. You only wanted to manipulate me into believing your lies didn't you?"
Amery hit him on his chest continuously and he let her. There was anger, pent-up rage inside her and as she hit him, she couldn't help the tears that fell freely from her eyes till she became a crying mess. He had lied to her again and like an i***t, she had foolishly believed him.
"Say something, Levi. Say something. Anything at all." She pressed angrily.
"I never meant to kill you."
She sniveled. "How long have you had it with you?" She swallowed the bile that rose to her throat. "How long have you been in possession of that substance to kill me?" "Amery-"
"Just f*****g answer the question, Levi. The mere truth. No more LIES!"
He looked away. "Ever since Madeleine's visit." He blurted and the air vanished out of her lungs all of a sudden. Amery found it difficult to breathe.
"You've had it all these while and yet you kept on...oh my goodness!" She held onto her head as she felt the migraine slowly coming on. "Was I really this blind? Was I really this stupid?"
"I had always known that you were up to something Levi and you have never proven me wrong." Asher spilt. His lips stretched in a cynical smile. He was happy that Amery had finally seen him for who he was. The liar that he had always been. At least now, he would have a chance at getting her back. There's no way she would go back to him after knowing all of this about him.
"Isn't that why you brought her here? You can't even deny it." Asher walked up to him and whispered. "Next time, don't leave your belongings lying around your room carelessly."
"I trusted you," Amery said from the ground where she was seated. "You told me to believe you and I did. You told me to trust you. You swore on your life that you would never do anything to hurt me and that we would find a solution together but then you went ahead and betrayed me without even thinking twice about it."
"I hate you." She muttered after a deep breath. "I will never forgive you for this." She swore vehemently, her eyes red and swollen from crying too much.
"You're a monster that doesn't care about anyone but himself." She accused, pointing at him as he spoke. "Thank you for doing this because now, you've shown me where your loyalties lie. I will never forgive you." She whispered taking a step backwards away from them. Asher tried to hold her but she stopped him.
"Don't you dare take another step closer to me. Stay away, both of you." She warned angrily before storming away into the woods. Asher called after her but she wouldn't listen, neither did she stop. She ran as fast as her legs could carry her, her brain reminding her of what had just happened. Once again, she had fallen prey to his words. Once again he had taken advantage of her kindness. She felt stupid. She felt used.
Amery ran deeper and deeper into the woods. She tripped on a tree branch and fell flatly to her face. She tried to get up but didn't when she spotted a hooded figure that had emerged from the darkness. Fear suddenly crept up her neck and settled there. She squinted her eyes to see who it was but couldn't make anything out of the shadow that approached her.
Before she could assimilate what was happening to even make a sound or cry for help, she suffered a huge blow to the head and gave into the darkness that enveloped her.
