Claimed By My Three Alphas -
Chapter 154
AMERY
Save for a few questions about if we were going in the right direction, the journey had been quiet. It was as though everyone had their demons they were battling with, so instead of saying anything that might start trouble, we all were just silent and walked as fast as we could and very quietly, too.
I liked it. The peace, the quietness, and the cool breeze that blew as we walked through the woods. Even better, the Alpha princes weren't fighting after being in the same space for hours and I wished that it would continue, but then again, when did my wishes ever come true? "Can't you walk straight? You keep hitting me," Quincy spoke up, breaking the deafening silence.
"You're the one coming closer to me," Asher retorted, and then Levi sucked his teeth in an irritated manner.
"What? You have a problem?" Asher asked, turning over to Levi who walked slowly behind us with folded arms and boredom written all over his face.
Levi ignored him, but Asher approached him menacingly, asking him to repeat what he had just done.
"You want to be a drama queen so bad. Keep on walking and stay out of my lane," Levi ordered, brushed past him and left him standing there.
Asher wanted to say something, but once he looked at me and saw the displeased look in my eyes, he just pushed Levi to the side and walked ahead of us, muttering something none of us heard. "Sorry about that," Quincy offered.
"It's okay," I said, with a shrug, then winced a little as I felt a sharp pain in my leg, which made me lose my balance.
Quincy was quick to hold me in his arms and stop me from falling. "Are you okay?" he asked in a concerned tone.
"What's wrong?" Asher asked, turning around and hurrying to meet me, then he touched my neck to see if I had a fever.
"I'm all right. I just have a cramp in my leg," I explained.
"Figured. You've been walking for hours," Levi chipped in.
"Maybe we should rest for a little bit of time," Quincy suggested.
"Are you out of your mind?" Asher barked. He went on, "Can't you see the sun is setting already and nighttime is fast approaching?" he asked.
"I get that we need to get out of here soon because the woods here are dangerous and all that, but it's only going to be just for some time. She needs to rest a little," Quincy explained.
"We don't have enough time. You know what? Fine. I'll carry her on my back for the rest of the journey," Asher stated, then pushed Quincy aside as he made to give me a piggyback ride.
"No, it's fine," I simply said, but he ignored me and still tried to do so against my wishes.
Levi tapped him mildly on the shoulder. "She said it's fine!" he cautioned.
Asher retaliated, hitting him on the chest. "You're one to talk. When did you ever do anything she asked you to do?" he retorted.
"Scumbag," Levi hissed, swinging at him and landing a heavy punch on his nose, which began to bleed instantly.
I called for them to stop, but they didn't listen and as Asher made Levi begin to bleed from his lips, they engaged in a full-blown fight; swinging kicks and landing punches anywhere and everywhere. Quincy tried to separate them, but stopped once they almost turned him into a punching bag, and just sat on a rock by the corner, watching them in silence.
"Come, Amery. You can rest while they do what they know how to do best," he said, giving me a hand gesture to come over to the rock where he sat.
That struck a loose bolt in Asher's brain, and he turned over to Quincy. "You mean, we're doing what we know how to do best? This, to you, is what we do best? And why exactly are you removing yourself from the whole situation, making it seem as if you're the more responsible and mature one who doesn't engage in fights like these?" Asher asked.
Levi spoke up. "Perhaps, he thinks if he acts all good, Amery would get in his bed. I mean, who can blame him? When last was he able to..."
"Enough!" I screamed at them, unable to take it anymore. I was infuriated, extremely annoyed and just tired of it all already. "My biggest mistake was thinking that for once, you three could be mature enough to be in the same space without bringing out the worst in each other. Thanks for coming with me this far, but if you're going to be annoying shitheads like these, I might as well continue on this journey alone," I stated in a firm tone and turned around to walk away from them. "Amery, wait up," Quincy said, grabbing my arm.
I flung his arm and threw him a distasteful glance. "Don't come with me," I instructed.
"But we can't let you go all by yourself," it was Levi who spoke up as he appeared in front of me, obstructing my path.
I tried to go in the other direction, but Asher stood there, unwilling to let me pass through.
Everywhere I looked, wherever I turned to, they were there and I couldn't leave. I was frustrated and an uncontrollable anger became my main emotion, With my hands around my ears as I heard bubbling sounds of tiny voices speaking in rapid motions, a burst of energy channelled its way from my brain and surged through me.
"Arrrrghhhh!" I growled in undeniable aggression, and in that moment, time seemed to stop. I went through hazy flashes of emotions and all I could see was darkness, but when my eyes opened to see myself still standing in the middle of nowhere but the familiar woods I had just been walking through, I looked around and saw the Alpha Princes scattered on the ground, coughing loudly and trying to get back on their feet.
I looked at my hands and realised what had happened. My powers had been unleashed, adding to the number of things I didn't understand about myself. If I didn't meet my mother now, I might start doing even worse things and become a danger to people. I was tempted to help them get back on their feet but decided against it. They were breathing and that was all that mattered.
"Stay away from me," I instructed, looking at each one of them before proceeding to leave them, deciding to continue my journey all by myself. After all, this was my battle and I had no business dragging them into this in the first place.
I still had mad cramps in my legs, but I fought through the pain and was able to walk fast and far away from them, ensuring that I would be long gone before they could regain their stamina.
As I walked, I kept staring at my hands, wondering what else might be different about me. I didn't understand it. I couldn't understand it. It was why I needed to see my mother urgently. I had so many questions for her. Who was I truly? What were my dreams all about? What was this sudden outburst of power? What was it about me that made me so different?
I must have been so preoccupied with my thoughts that I didn't realise that I was walking in the wrong direction, and worst still, that I was about to hit a trap. It was when my feet landed on thin grass that I looked downwards, and before I could do anything to remedy the situation, the grass which comprised mainly of scattered leaves purposely placed there to catch unsuspecting preys, gave way and I fell with a loud yelp into a large pit which was six feet deep.
I landed on a furry soft body, and was feeling a bit safe, then screamed out of my wits noticing it was a deer. I was scared for my life and looked around the dark pit, searching for something, anything at all that I could use to climb out of the pit. "Hello," I screamed as a last resort. "Is anyone out there?" My voice echoed through the pit in a manner that frightened me as well. "Hello there," a dark ominous voice came from behind me.
My heart skipped as I turned to regard the owner of the voice. He was huge, terribly huge and a mischievous smile was plastered on his face.
I was scared... terribly scared. It wasn't just because I thought I might never make it out of there; it was because the sun had set and per Asher's words, the woods were filled with dangerous rogues; wolves without any sense of compassion.
Just then, wolves of different sizes began to slowly creep out of the pit, growling loudly and it echoed eerily as I moved backwards in fear. Were these the rogues? Had I gone to awaken them in their own home?
I moved backwards until I got to the end of the pit where I crashed into what was revealed to be a set of skulls. My heartbeat increased tremendously, as I wondered if these were the skills of their victims.
Tears clouded my eyes as I regretted my decision to leave Levi, Asher and Quincy, and hoped that they somehow found me and got me out of this mess.
But even then, I knew. With how the wolves approached me, I knew that I was a lost case and once they got a hold of me, I would never survive their attacks. I would die and never meet my mother, and those questions I had for her would never be answered.
