Claimed By My Three Alphas -
Chapter 156
With twinkling eyes and exaggerated howls, the wolves of the three brothers aligned and just as they were before time began; being one but broken into three. They had decided to go back to how they once were, and so, the three wolves morphed into one giant wolf; extremely massive and impossible to defeat by their adversaries.
Amery stood behind the wolf in utmost shock and disbelief. She felt scared; terribly. Once, Quincy had made a joke that all three wolves could become one, but they had laughed it off and she had thought it was all fun and games, but apparently, it wasn't. Her disbelief turned into awe as a smile spread across her lips. It was simply magnificent; the massive wolf which began to shine brightly with all the colours of the rainbow, and a furry white tail; possessing all of the qualities of the Alpha Princes. She felt the safest she had ever been and just relaxed, watching silently; knowing already that they were going to succeed.
The rogues seemed afraid and drew back, contemplating whether or not to engage in a fight with the largest wolf they had ever come across. However, the Alpha princes weren't about to give them a chance to choose whether or not they wanted to continue with the same fight they had started.
The brothers' wolf charged at them with full force. Being merged as one, it was easier to fight the rogues easily. They swung at them and blocked every path any of the rogues wanted to take. Even the howl made by the wolf was loud enough to throw off an intending attacker; and every bite, tear and scratch was deadly.
It was no surprise that in less than ten minutes, all the rogues had been defeated, bleeding profusely even though the brothers hadn't intended to spill blood, and just lying down like old and worn-out dogs; blinking over and over again to show that they had surrendered and were unwilling to fight anymore.
However, morphing into a single wolf seemed like a death sentence because in the instance of any slight disagreement, the wolf would be stuck like that forever and they would never be able to separate and shift back to their human forms. The brothers were all aware of this, but Amery wasn't.
So, when the rogues surrendered, Quincy's wolf was willing to let it go and turn around. On the other hand, Asher's wolf wanted to inflict more injury on them, while Levi's wolf wanted them dead. They couldn't agree on a sense of direction, and thus, an ongoing confusion ensued between them and each wolf wanted to get separated from the other, but their minds weren't in one accord and they couldn't be set on the particular thing to do. They knew what they were risking; their freedom, but at that point, they didn't mind.
Amery could sense that they were having a disagreement and tried to scream, asking them to stop, but that only drew the attention of the biggest wolf out of the rogues; the same huge man they had all seen. Unknown to the three brothers who stayed stuck in their massive rainbow wolf disagreeing as usual, the rogue had been able to rid itself of its pain, and it was able to stand on all fours again, and then, with a big leap, it got to where Amery stood and held her hostage.
"Help! Help!" Amery yelled, as the rogue overturned her, jumped fiercely on her and proceeded to dig its claws into her eyes, meting upon her excruciating pain. She screamed out in agony as blood trickled down her eyes and rolled onto her neck.
It was the smell of her blood that alerted the Princes' wolf, and the only thing their hearts yearned for was to protect her. Hence, what would have been a nightmare was thwarted, and once again, the wolf had a sense of direction. Quickly, the wolf charged at the rogue, ripping it apart and stomping all over it. It was so badly beaten that it shifted back to its human body without warning; weak and broken, bleeding ten times more than it had made Amery bleed. Amery remained on the floor, still crying out blood. Her eyes hurt her and for a second, she thought she was going to lose her ability to see. The princes' wolf stared at her, feeling terrible and heartbroken over her condition.
She lifted a finger and felt the wolf with her hands. It was so soft despite its largeness; and once her curious eyes met the wolf's eyes, the bleeding from her eyes stopped, and immediately, the brothers were able to be separated from the wolf and shifted back into their separate, different and unique human bodies.
"Well, that was fun," Asher said, smiling broadly for the first time that night.
"Are you crazy? We almost died," Quincy stated, putting on his clothes that had come off during the whole process of transformation.
"I liked it. We should do it more often," Levi said.
"Never. I'm never going to join both of you to do that anymore. If anything had gone wrong, if the rogue hadn't come for Amery, we would have been stuck forever because you two just couldn't reason properly," Quincy argued.
"You're just a big softie," Asher joked and Levi laughed.
"Are you guys done changing?" Amery, who had closed her eyes, stunned by the nakedness of all three at once, asked.
"Yeah," Levi lied.
Amery's eyes flew open, but realising she had been tricked, she shut her eyes tightly again, unwilling to look at them, while cursing Levi slightly under her breath for lying to her.
Soon, they were done with changing and with the assurance given to her by Quincy, she opened her eyes and was helped up to her feet by the three brothers.
"Sorry about your injury. We will treat it once we arrive at our destination," Asher apologised.
"It's okay. It's not your fault," Amery said.
To get out of the pit while the rogues still laid on the floor broken and tired, the brothers had to get on their knees, bend their backs and climb on top of each other.
Amery used their backs as a staircase to get out of the pit, then Quincy who was at the top of the makeshift stairs was able to hurl himself out, after which he extended his arm to Asher who was next and helped him get out, then the two brothers were able to pull Levi as well from the pit. "This feels like a dream. I can't believe we escaped," Amery said.
"Yeah, but we did, and for the first time, we actually did something meaningful together," Quincy said, finding it hard to believe.
"We don't have time to chitchat. Can you hear that?" Asher asked, and they paused their conversation, to hear howls coming from different directions; loud frightening howls.
"It means that more rogues are on their way. We need to get out of here now," Levi said, then grabbed Amery's hand.
Asher pushed him away, then took hold of her hand. "I know these woods better, and I also know a shorter route to reach Amery's mother's hand before midnight," he said.
Levi wanted to argue, but Quincy stopped him. "We have no time to quarrel. You can hold my hand instead," Quincy offered, stretching out his hand.
Surprisingly, Levi took his hand, and Amery smiled, seeing that things had started getting better between them. She held on to Asher's hand firmly, and thus, they began to run as fast as their legs could carry them; all of them following Asher's lead, holding their partner's hand firmly, careful not to leave someone behind.
Perhaps, it was the excitement that came from surviving in a pit filled with deadly rogues or just basking under the light of the full moon and the cool breeze that swept through the air, but they were filled with vigour and unlike in the daytime, they were able to run wildly without feeling it in their joints, even though they had just been involved in a brutal fight.
Soon, they were out of the woods. They slowed down and walked for a minute. Amery had just started to feel the ache in her legs from running the fastest she had ever ran in her entire life, Levi was still pained that they had not killed the rogues once and for all, while Quincy was considering asking Asher if he was sure of where they were heading to, when all of a sudden, Asher stopped right in his tracks, startling everyone. "What's wrong?" they chorused.
Asher pointed at a small cottage on the lonely path they had been walking on after exiting the woods. It had a small light coming from it and outside, there were logs of wood and a small poultry, with chicks that were fast asleep. "That's the house," he explained. Amery looked at the cottage, and her mouth opened slightly in amazement. She wasn't sure what she had been expecting and her amazement stemmed from the fact that she couldn't just believe that finally, she was there. In that cottage lay answers to all the questions that had been troubling her, and only there could she understand who she really was and what fate had in mind for her.
Her hand slipped away from Asher's hand and she walked alone to the cottage. Her eyes still stung from the injury the rogue had inflicted, and her feet were shaky due to fatigue, but her hands were only shivering from anxiety. She swallowed hard, then bit her lip lightly, hoping she didn't regret her decision to go there.
With a sigh, she summoned the courage and knocked twice on the door, prepared for whatever laid beneath it.
