Her!"

I heard the deep shrill haunting voices of some guards from a faraway distance. Their footsteps approached me and I took to my heel, running as fast as my feet could carry me. I stopped for a brief second as I took in the unknown environment, surrounding me. "Over there!" They yelled again and I resumed running deep into the abyss. I fell down to the ground on my face and that's when I realized that my legs and feet were covered in fur.

I panicked as the sweat broke out on my forehead. The voices behind me had drowned down and faded a bit and I looked around to realize that there was no one around.

I was all alone.

My bones snapped and I cried out in pain. The pupils in my eyes dilated and my teeth glawed against each other.

I opened my eyes slowly and I am surprised to find myself in another strange place. I looked ahead to see a mirror hanging in thin air with nothing supporting or holding on to it.

Forcing my body to stand up from the hard surface, I found myself walking up to the mirror. I stopped when I saw my reflection in the mirror. My eyes had taken another shade of blue and I staring at the reflection of wolf.

I felt the fear creep in inside me and my heartbeat accelerated stimutaneously.

"Amery..." I heard someone calling out to me. I looked around to find no one behind me. "Please wake up Amery," The voice sounded familiar. It sounded like that of Asher.

"Asher?" I called back loudly. "Where are you?" I yelled in a loud voice.

"Amery!" The voice came back louder than before and I realized that it was coming from the mirror. Without giving it a second thought, I touched it and it immediately it broke into a million tiny pieces.

The loudness of the crash realized scared me and I screamed out in fear.

"NO!" I convulsed rapidly, turning from side to side on the huge master's bed. I jolted awake immediately and that's when it hit me that I had just waken up from a nightmare. My duvet was completely soaked like though it was drenched by the rain. "Asher?" I whispered. My voice hoarse and frail.

"You're awake" He squeezed my hands gently and proceeded to wipe off the beads of sweat that had formed on my forehead.

"Welcome back Amery." I slowly turned my eyes to see Quincy seated on another bed, watching me. "I was the one who got hit and you're the one who almost died." He clicked his tongue with a snort.

"H-How...how are you feeling now?" I forced myself to ask.

"I'm a lot better." He showcased his muscles in a tease. "I feel a lot energized, it was almost like it never happened. I'm ready to take over the world."

I smiled at his corkiness, happy that he was alive enough to make jokes again.

"And you?" Asher's voice led me to look at him again "How are you feeling?" He asked with a scrowl on his face. Was he mad at me or something?

"I feel like I'm broken everywhere but I'll be alright!"

He scoffed "Alright?" He questioned, dark eyes staring down at me. "And what if we didn't arrive when we did? Do you have any idea what would've happened?"

I swallowed down the saliva through my dry throat.

"You would've died!" He shouted at me. "Why in the goddesses name would you agree to go out with someone like Dalia?"

"I didn't know-"

"Are you sure that you didn't?" His lips curled up in anger. "Was this your idea to get back at me or something?"

"Asher-" I reached out to hold his hands but he pulled away from my touch.

"If I had even made it just a second longer Amery, just a second...you would've died!" He grunted in rage. "So tell me why you decided to put yourself at risk Amery, Why?!"

"Because I wanted to get you a gift okay!" I let the words slip out of my mouth and just then, I saw his facial muscles relax and his expression soften.

"I wanted to get you a gift for your birthday." I repeated, my hands playing with the hem of the blanket in a nervous manner. "I asked Quincy for what you would like but he had refused to tell me. Dalia was the one who offered to help and so, I took it. I didn't know that she was planning something like this."

His lips broke out into a smile "You..you wanted to get a gift for me, for my birthday?"

I nodded once. "I'm sorry if I upset you-" The words caught up in my throat when he threw his hands around me in a hug. I breathed in his scent that always seemed to mess up my insides.

"No one has ever thought of buying me a gift. Thank you so much Amery."

"Why are you thanking me?" I pulled away from his arms. "I didn't even save the gifts because I got attacked. I'm truly sorry."

"Hey.." He held my face with his hands "Don't apologize for that Amery. I appreciate everything that you tried to do for me. Thank you so much!"

"No!" I shook my head vehemently, tears trailing down my cheeks. "Thanks for coming for me when I had reached out to you Asher. If you didn't show up when you did then, I can't begin to imagine what would've happened by now." Asher flushed, feeling embarrassed.

"Is there something wrong?" I pressed. "You look upset."

"Actually..." He started. "I wasn't the one who got the connection that you were in danger." He dropped the bomb while I tried to assimilate what he meant by that.

"It was Levi" He stated, confirming my fears. The mood in the room suddenly felt different and completely awkward. I was certain that I had reached out to Asher. I pictured him and everything so why did Levi get the call instead of Asher? What exactly went wrong? And the fact that he came for me baffled me too. Levi loathed me with every fiber of his being and had made it his life mission to have me killed so why did he come for me when he had the chance to achieve what he wanted?

And am I supposed to thank him for this or should I ignore and pretend like it never happened? Has he changed perhaps?

"But you still didn't have to take that risk of getting me a gift." Asher's voice brought me back from my quick reverie. "Thank you Amery and thank you for being alive. I'll be right back." And with that, he walked out of the bedroom leaving me alone with Quincy. "Wow!" Quincy coughed, gaining my attention. "What a bummer for Asher. I'm pretty sure he won't get over this that easily." He comments and just then his eyes met mine and he knitted his brows at me. "Why are you staring at me as if you'd want to eat me up alive?"

"Why did you come for me?" I questioned "Why did you come there despite knowing that you could get hurt too?"

"I just wanted to be the hero and rescue the damsel in distress. You're welcome."

I scoffed in disbelief. How is he always able to make a joke out of everything.

"I thought that you were mad at me. You slammed the door at me when I had come to ask you to help me so why did you come there?"

I still couldn't believe that he had risked his life to save mine.

"I am still mad at you but if you're feeling sorry about it then why don't we just tangle the sheets and put this whole thing behind us?" a corked a grin at me.

I laughed "I'm glad that you're able to laugh Quincy and thank you too for not dying on me."

"Would you miss me if I had died?"

I nodded "Yes Quincy. I'd miss you a whole lot if something bad happens to you so let's try to avoid that because I wouldn't know what I would do without you here."

He stood up from his side of the bed and leaned his closer, his lips hovering above mine slightly.

I closed my eyes when I felt him coming closer but he took me by surprise and kissed me in my forehead instead.

"By the way..." He began and I opened my eyes to see him staring at me. "Who's your date to my birthday ceremony coming up in a few weeks?"

"Well um.... Asher already asked me and I accepted to go with him."

"I want you to go out with me as well."

"But-"

"I don't see why you can't go with me. I'm your mate as well and it's only fitting that you're my date for the occasion too."

"Alright then Qincy. I'll be your date to the party as well." I said and he smiled at me in affirmation.
