AMERY

.

"You like?" Quincy asked when he noticed how immersed I was with the drawing of me scattered across the wall of his bedroom. I don't know if I should be thankful that he did something like this for me or if I should be scared that he actually did. Both of them sounded right in my head and wrong at the same time. This was supposed to be a criminal offense called pictorial stalking. He did do it without my permission so I'm supposed to have every right to sue for this aren't I?

Hell!

Ignoring his question, I took my time to focus on each and every one of them. The details of every picture was brought to life as though it were real. I've always known Quincy to be a talented artist but this right here, was a masterpiece. An exception if you ask me. All the pictures were drawn from different angles. Some was me in class listening to the teacher absent-minded. The other one was drawn with my eyes closed and my buds rested perfectly in my ears. The other one was from the time we were both punished by being sent to detention.

How did he manage to do all of this? And in such short period of time? it was beautiful as well as frightening at the same time. Sheesh!

"I figured I'd do something nice for you so that you'd finally forgive me." He went on while I ran my fingers over the smooth surface of the drawings that was hung on the wall.

"So do you like it?" He mused. I slowly dropped my hands to the side and turned to face him. His hands were tucked in his shorts and he arched his shoulders forward in excitement. I don't know why he's so excited though.

"Am I permitted to say no?" I asked and his shoulders slopped down almost immediately.

"No?" He questioned looking shocked. "You're not permitted to say no. You're supposed to say yes. I went all out to make this for you and you just want to say no? Just no?"

I sighed dramatically. "No one asked you to do it though and besides, you'd think I'd forgive you simply because you drew a non existent picture of me and turned your bedroom into a pictorial shrine?" I threw my chin at him defiantly. My face crunched up in disbelief.

"I'll admit that it's pretty but that doesn't mean I'd be forced to forgive you for something I didn't ask you to do."

"But you forgave Asher." He whined. "Why can't you forgive me too? I've literally been doing everything that I can to get you to forget about the past when I wasn't even the one who hurt you in the first place."

"I approached you first remember?" He continued while I listened with rapt attention. "I approached at school. I even got detention for both of us which I'm not proud of but still, I did good so why are you holding back on me? If there's anyone you're supposed to hate then it's Levi. He was the one who allegedly killed you so why should I pay for his mistakes too?"

"Because you're his brother." Came my swift but firm reply.

"And Asher isn't?" He retorted. "You forgave him didn't you? And you talk to Levi too so why not me? Why should I be excluded?"

"Because your stupid act landed me in detention and not to mention that I almost got killed because of you." I gritted my teeth in contempt. "You should at least be happy that I'm here in this room talking to you. Just staring at you makes me feel like I want to throw up. Let's get the project already so that I can leave."

He cracked up in a mocking laugh and paced round the room in a dramatic manner, stopping occasionally to look at me as though I've grown another pair of head or something.

"Alright." He agreed after a few minutes of endless walks. "Let's get to the stupid project then."

He offered me a seat on his bed but I took the one on his desk anyways. He pulled out a chair out of nowhere to join me while I unpacked the materials from my bag.

"Do you have any idea on what we should work on?" I asked but he ignored me and proceeded to pick up a pencil from the desk to play with.

"I was thinking that we should go for a regular topic that'll be easy for you to understand since we'll be presenting it In front of the whole class." I suggested but he clicked his tongue at me, feeling uninterested.

"Are you even listening to me?" I cried out feeling frustrated. Why am I always stuck in the middle of these kids who are supposed to act like grown ups?

"You've already decided so why do you need my opinion?" He backlashed me. "Besides, I know nothing about this project so why should I bother. You're the human amongst us so do the honours and make it work." "Make it work? Seriously?" I hit the table feeling frustrated. "You're supposed to be my partner. That's why it's called a project because we're supposed to work on it together."

"And just how do you expect is to be partners when you've blatantly refused to forgive me? You're just making things worse here."

"I'll drop this If you don't contribute." I threatened but he laughed. He laughed to the point that I thought the had gone nuts.

"That's impossible." He stressed out and brought his face closer to mine. My insides went tingly at our close proximity. I tried to move back but he only inched closer. "You see, not contributing means you'll fail and I know that you don't want to fail so be the good girl that you claim to be and just get on with it okay?" He popped his mouth like a bomb and winked at me with a corky grin. Remind me to pull that smile off his face when I have the chance.

"Fine then. You want to fail so bad then be my guest but I'm not betting my grades on you." I snorted and continued with my work.

True to his words, Quincy barely contributed to anything. He never tried to assist with the work. All he did was either try to flirt, touch or seduce me. He made remarks about my body and brushes himself on me when he had the chance. When I tried to complain, he didn't stop but only continued.

Infuriated with his nonchalance towards the project, I shut the books forcefully and angrily dashed out of his bedroom. He tried to stop me but this time, I wouldn't listen. Maybe a minute or two alone would knock some sense into him.

I wanted to knock on Asher's door but suddenly decided against it. I don't want to be locked up in the same room as him. I was barely trying to place my emotions on check and the slightest exposure to him somehow seemed to fry my brain and render me completely useless so I opted for the living room instead.

I needed space and since I couldn't get it from Quincy, I might as well just dwell on my own for a few minutes. Levi's room was still locked so I figured that he was still inside.

Holding that thought, I approached the living room and the minute I stepped in, I came face to face with Levi who was alone watching a basketball game that was been displayed on the TV.

He looks at me and I am reminded of my little mistake earlier when I had barged into his room without knocking. My cheeks heated up and I hide myself in utter embarrassment. Just when I thought I'd finally had enough, the devil somehow throws him in my path repeatedly.

I know that this house belongs to him but then why was he here of all places? Why not his room or anywhere else.

I scratched my head as though I had forgotten something and turned to leave. Maybe being cooped up with Quincy in his bedroom wasn't such a bad idea anymore.

"Amery." Levi's voice boomed from behind me and I swallowed. My feet were rooted to the ground as though I had been frozen rock solid.

Slow and steadily, I turned around to face him. His eyes were fixated on me that it took all my willpower to actually look away from them.

"I'd like to have a word with you." He requested. His eyes brazen and hard. He doesn't look like someone who wanted to talk peacefully. Mere looking at him had my whole body in knots.

I cleared my throat. "But I don't want to talk to you Levi. In fact, I have no desire whatsoever to speak to you. Now if you'll excuse me." I made to leave but before I could take one step, I felt strong pair of hands grab me from behind. It all happened so suddenly that the next thing I knew, my back was pinned to the nearest wall with Levi towering over me.

Now what exactly does he want this time?
