Cold Hearted Mate
Chapter 32

King Remus and Beta Roland were surprised by the sudden appearance of the mate of the Alpha King. Ophelia was supposed to be in her own fortress.

The Alpha King made a fortress for her surrounded by Alpha King's elite warriors. The Alpha King made sure that she is protected and safe since she is his mate in a werewolf's mate can be both strength and weakness.

Once a mate of a werewolf dies or gets hurt especially after they have officially mated, the werewolf will feel a crushing care of her loss, and even when a werewolf's mate get hurt, they will feel the pain. The sensation of pain is felt by the werewolves. That is why King Remus tries his best to protect Ophelia and keeps her within grasp or within his territory.

"Oh, Ophelia! Why are you here? You are supposed to be in your chambers. Roland! Where are her guards?" King Remus query.

"Come on! I am not a child and I am not a prisoner of yours. I just came here since I found out that you got ambushed and I felt you got hurt a bit. Plus, our son Prince Jasper was with you during that time. He could have hurt Remus." Ophelia worriedly tells King Remus.

"Jasper is no longer a boy for you to keep spoiling around. You should let him act like an adult man that he should be. And do not worry about my safety because I am still the strongest werewolf in the world."

"Still! You cannot be too comfortable, because your enemies are growing in numbers!" Ophelia warned King Remus.

"My enemies can grow in number and I will just keep eliminating them one by one. Even those who pose a threat to my future plans, I eliminate them for good!" King Remus proudly reminds Ophelia.

"Just like your first fake love, Katherine?" Ophelia brazenly brought up the late Queen Katherine.

Beta Roland felt sad but tried not to show it when Ophelia mentioned the late Queen Katherine.

Ophelia was completely tactless with her words and kept talking about how King Remus should have informed her about the situation immediately and not found out about it on her own. You were just so lucky that Katherine did not find her mate and she fell right into your life until one fated night. She became a threat and God knows what she could have done as damage to your end game. No wonder, you arranged for her death. Little do everyone knows about the truth -" Ophelia was interrupted when they heard someone approaching.

Alpha Connor arrived with some of the Royal guards. He is clearly looking serious and having a concern look on his face.

"Father, I want to issue a request." Alpha Connor came in barging in.

Ophelia seemed to be lucky enough that she was not able to disclose any of King Remus' sinister plans or dirty secrets while the Alpha was on his way to barge in.

It seems that there is something bothering Alpha Connor instead of hearing the dark secret behind her mother's death rate Queen Katherine.

"Looks like this is the time for me to announce my exit. Well, hope to see you in my chambers later, your highness." Ophelia attempts to announce her leave. "It involves your mate's father!" Alpha Connor declares.

Ophelia and the rest were surprised by the declaration of the Alpha Connor.

"What about me? I must say it is shocking to hear my name out of your mouth. So please, enlighten us with your request!" Ophelia mockingly asked Alpha Connor.

Alpha Connor and Ophelia, were clearly both not in good terms. Both of them could not stand each other as well since Alpha Connor knows that the relationship of Ophelia happened during the marriage of King Remus and Queen Katherine.

"We need Ophelia in the hospital wing now, especially her expertise in poison and wolfs bane healing. She is the only one that can help those who we sent for special ops in chasing the intruder." Explained by Alpha Connor.

"Why what happened?" asked King Remus.

"Father, the second squad you sent for the reinforcement of the Special Ops Squad that I sent first, found them barely breathing. And most of them are poisoned with this high dosage of mixed chemicals of wolfs bane and some unknown poison. That is why we need Ophelia now in the hospital wing, ASAP!" Alpha Connor informs his father.

Ophelia is known for her unparalleled expertise in poison, wolfs bane and the art of healing. She used to help in the hospital wing but lost interest recently since she does not like how Alpha Connor undermines her authority.

"After you undermined my authority last time we spoke as you detest my leadership skills, so now you want me to save your precious pack members? Ha! I will definitely not help!" Openly declared of Ophelia. There was friction between the two and everyone could sense it by the way they said their views toward each other.

"Ophelia! You will help them!" King Remus commanded.

"Certainly NOT! Over my Queenly body!" Ophelia openly refuses.

King Remus uses his abilities; Alpha King's Roar combined with Alpha's Command. It is an ability when used, forces the lower ranking werewolves to do something which the Alpha wants them to do. Unfortunately for Ophelia, she could not resist her Alpha mate, especially when the Alpha King uses his power ability on her.

"Thank you father!" Gratefully thanked by Alpha Connor.

Both Ophelia and Alpha Connor left together with so much tension between them but Alpha Connor is more worried about his own pack members than the attitude of the name of his father.

As soon as Alpha Connor and the others left and out the range to hear the next words of King Remus. His Beta Roland and he continue their conversation.

"Roland, send my assassins over the wolf pack of the Alphas who opposed my intention to issue war against the current King of Rogue Werewolves." Commanded by King Remus to Beta Roland. Beta Roland immediately agreed with this command.

"What should we do with our new information about the whereabouts of the Oracle?" Query of Beta Roland.

"We will pay a visit to him but first, I have to take care of my meeting with the Altum Council. I should inform them about my war with the King of Rogue Werewolves and maybe take down two of the members of the council. Should I take down first, the Grand Seer or the Grand White Witch?" Deviously wondered by King Remus.

The moment Alpha Connor and Ophelia arrived at the hospital wing, they saw the scene of the emergency room chaotic and full of werewolves screaming in pain.

There are even some patients that are unconscious. Channon, the Alpha Connor's Delta, was one of them.

Ophelia witnesses the chaos going on. The doctors and nurses could not even figure out what kind of poison that was used against these werewolves.

"What the hell in the world?!" She is basically surprised by everything that is going on.

"Exactly, this is why I need your expertise badly. A lot of patients need to be cured and their regenerating ability is not functioning. Good thing, the reinforcements were able to transport them or alive but in such a perilous state." Alpha Connor informs Ophelia. Ophelia observed and went to each patient. She immediately geared up and checked them each and had her diagnosis on the condition of each warrior including Channon and Andrew.

While Ophelia is hastily checking and giving her diagnosis on each werewolf who is currently struggling to survive, Alpha Connor observes Ophelia's actions.

After all the efforts of checking every patient, Ophelia thought that she could cure these werewolves with her knowledge about poisons, wolfs bane and how to treat it. Though, she can recognize the new chemicals and substances used to aggravate the usual effects of wolfs bane and some poisons mix within these samples.

So, Ophelia thought of something and realized asking to gain certain things she wants to have.

Alpha Connor and the rest were surprised that Ophelia stopped along the way.

"What are you doing? Why are you stopping?" Confusedly by Alpha Connor.

Ophelia looks at Alpha Connor while discontinuing her current actions.

"You know what, why should I help you if I am not gaining anything?" Ophelia declares.

"What do you want then? What are your demands? Ophelia, what does it take you for you to help the patient and cooperate with us? Tell me and I will listen." Outwardly said by Alpha Connor.

A victorious smirk was released by Ophelia. She felt victorious inside because she was able to manipulate her way once again with her own business manipulated nature. She knows that Alpha Connor never goes back with his words. There is such a word of honor that Alpha Connor lives by.

"Well, I want you to reinstate me as the chief of the hospital wing." Ophelia replies to Alpha Connor.

Every doctor, medical staff and official is surprised by the demand of Ophelia.

It will be almost a year since Alpha Connor took out or fired Ophelia as Medical Chief of the Royal Hospital of the Kingdom \which is located right beside the Royal Palace but has a separate roads building detached from the Royal Palace itself.

A decision was imposed due to illegal practices and the absurd treatment of Ophelia towards the entire medical staff. Ophelia was considered to be the "Nightmare" of the Royal Hospital. She may be knowledgeable and indeed expert in the medical field, but she has a bad reputation which affects the peace and services around the Royal Hospital.

The establishment of the Royal Hospital was due to the efforts of the late Queen Katherine. After her death, among her last will testament mentions that Alpha Connor will be responsible in presiding over the control and decision-making over the entire operation of the Royal Hospital.

Not even the Alpha King Remus would overturn the clause late in Katherine's last will because it was announced during a parliament season being witnessed by the entire parliament.

Thus, all decisions and ruling regarding the Royal Hospital are left under Alpha Connor's authority and verdict.

"Yes, consider it done!" Replied by Alpha Connor.

"And make it permanently binding. Meaning, I cannot be taken out for reassurance of my future as the Chief." Cunningly added by Ophelia just in case Alpha Connor changes his mind in the future, so she must make it permanently binding. Alpha Connor clenches his fist but remains calm.

"Yes fine! Just help the wounded and make sure all live. One dies, you will not have your reinstatement." Challenge was given by Alpha Connor.
