Diana's face was starting to look a bit stiff. Pax's point was clear: they had already made their way up here. Trying to keep it cool, Diana asked, "So, what are you two doing up here?" Pax pulled out his phone, grinning. "Oh, just soaking in the view. It's gorgeous up here, and I've got it all recorded. Want to see?"

He offered the phone to Diana, but she pushed his arm away firmly. "No, I don't."

Diana was fully aware. Whatever happened earlier must have been caught by them. No wonder Uncle Connor seemed so calm-it was all a setup between the three of them.

Chloe picked up Pax's phone, curiosity in her eyes. "By the way, Diana, you haven't filled us in on what just went down?"

Diana clenched her teeth, knowing full well that if she dragged Connor into this, Chloe would definitely release the video. Holding back her frustration, her body shook despite her efforts to stay composed.

Only two reporters had been in on Diana's earlier plan. They were supposed to bring the rest of the journalists up to the rooftop and steer the narrative to pull Connor into the mess. Most of the reporters were clueless about this setup.

Cameras were aimed at Diana. "Diana, can you tell us what happened? Did Mr. Connor do something inappropriate?"

Diana bit her lip, lifting her dress slightly to reveal her trembling amputated leg. Sweat glistened on her forehead as she spoke. "Uncle Connor is a gentleman; he would· never do such a thing. I had a phantom limb pain attack it was unbearable, and that's why I cried for help."

Chloe's lips curled into a mocking smile. Diana was clever at creating an escape route, not only finding a believable excuse but also winning over heaps of sympathy. If the truth were to come out now, even though Connor was the victim, he'd be seen as heartless.

But Chloe had no plans to spill the beans. The video had another role to play for her. Diana's anger and frustration were real, and her phantom limb pain flared up legitimately.

Pale-faced from the pain, Diana continued, "Uncle Connor was just going to grab my meds. You're all jumping to conclusions."

The crowd's expressions varied wildly. Some felt guilty for their nasty assumptions, others were moved by sympathy for Diana. Of course, a few remained skeptical. Phantom limb pain, sure, but what about the torn dress and collar? Something didn't add up.

Still, seeing Diana's trembling leg silenced many with sighs of pity.

Chloe had made her way to Connor's side, speaking with authority. "Everyone knows the truth now. Whoever just accused my husband should step up and apologize."

The person who first tossed out the word "assault was nudged forward. He kept glancing at Diana, who stood with her head bowed, shaking from pain. In the end, he didn't say much just approached Connor and Chloe, murmuring, "I'm sorry, Mr.

Connor, Ms. Chloe, out of

turn."

Chloe glanced at his name tag. "Looks like your journalism career might be hitting a dead end. But don't worry, go ask for compensation from whoever set you up. I'm sure they'll be generous."
