Dr. Luna
Demon War: Rise of the Alpha Chapter 60

Two large bears, a titan of a red dragon, and the biggest werewolf alive all laid sprawled on the ground. The loud sounding of heavy breathing was heard and then the slow movement as the lifted to their feet. In front of them a colossal blue dragon stood there calmly. His tail swayed slowly side to side as he looked at them all. A proud smirk rose on his face and he cleared his throat.

"You did good. I'm serious I'm impressed. You guys held your own better than I thought you would have. Honestly. You guys should be proud. I even had to go up to halfway with my strength fighting against you all." Lee listened to the low snarls in front of him as they shifted back to their human selves. Lee also took this time and shifted back as well. "He was freaking patronizing us right there. Did you hear him?" Titus said as he huffed catching his breath.

"I never realized how strong a tier one deity actually is." Jason looked over at Wyatt.

"What is scary is that I don't think we even caused him to break a sweat." Wyatt groaned out in disappointment. No matter how strong they were there was a night and day difference in their power. He hoped as the werewolf king he would have been able to cause more havoc against him.

"Well deities are just dirty cheaters and that is all there is to that." Cody walked up to Titus and bumped his shoulders. "Not to mention little red here was hardly any help."

Titus chuckled. "I would argue that we weren't giving it our full effort but neither was that pompous one over there."

Lee chuckled. "You are the ones who wanted this. It was a nice little warm up for me. Helped get me loose." He smirked at the men as he strolled up to them.

"I always thought when Rhea found her mate, we would instill fear in him. He would be so afraid of us that I would know he would treat her right." Wyatt said in disappointment.

"I would never treat her badly." Lee said with a small smile.

"UNBELIEVABLE!"

They all shifted their glance over to Rhea who was fuming. She crossed her arms over her chest and tapped her foot angrily. "Here I am coming to fetch you guys for dinner and you all sneaked and sparred anyways." Her blue eyes pierced against Lee's. Titus smirked. "Now you see that right there Wyatt. That is the look of fear in a deity's eyes. That's the power you sister has."

Lee growled lowly at Titus and flashed him an irritated look. He walked up to Rhea who had her eyebrows raised staring him down.

"It wasn't my idea Rhea." Lee said as he studied her face. Soon a small smile spread over her lips.

Rhea giggled. "I don't care but next time let me know. Don't leave me out of the sparring. I'm sure Freya would have loved to get in on it to."

Titus tilted his head to the side and looked at Cody. "With Rhea on our side we would achieve victory for sure."

"A win is a win right?" Cody chuckled with a shrug.

"Where is Freya?" Wyatt asked looking behind Rhea.

"She went to get Jin. And like I said the food is ready so you better get over there before Sam, Adam and Winston eat it all." Rhea giggled.

"Say no more. I am starving." Cody said as they all made their way to behind the pack house.

"So..." Rhea whispered quietly, and she tugged onto Lee's arm. "You beat them good?" She grinned up at him.

"Real good." Lee winked at her and chuckled. Titus was right. There was only one thing that truly scared him, and it was anything having to do with Rhea. She was his only weakness...

Titus ventured away from the pavilion as everyone chatted away amongst themselves. This was his first time in a werewolf territory, and he was curious to see what it looked like. He was surprised to see there was no barrier of any sort around the place. Nothing that could keep unwanted demons from walking in freely. He felt a bit apprehensive having Rhea here. Demons could just charge right in if they wanted to.

It was a very peaceful feeling here though. There was a very happy atmosphere. You could hear laughter and see children playing. There were family houses scattered about the wooded area and some in more open areas. He could see how well kept and organized the training facility was. It looked like it was a nice place to grow up. He imagined that Rhea had a warm childhood here with her family. Completely different than what he had. Most people couldn't be near him because of his burning aura. And then his own father had left him. He was never able to get over the loss of his mate who died from carrying Titus. His aura burned her up. He was practically raised by Levi and Grandpa Sage.

"Where do you think you are sneaking off to?" Rhea quickly ran up to him. She had noticed him sneaking away and wanted to check on him. Lee was busy having 'man to man' chat with Wyatt and Jason. They were basically doing the brotherly check out of him. So while he was being interrogated she also managed her escape.

"I'm not the one who will get in trouble for sneaking off." Titus gave her a side grin and she giggled back at him.

"I just followed you. So we both know how this will go down."

"Yeah, with me getting blamed for your disappearing act." Titus shook his head chuckling.

"Well the damage has been done. Let me show you around." Rhea wrapped her arm around Titus' as she began to pull him through pack territory.

"No way! That is not my sweet little Rhea girl is it?" Avery gushed as she ran up to Rhea. She wrapped her arms around her. "I have missed you so much. Look at you. You look even more grown up now." She then took a few steps backwards as sweat beads began to form on her forehead.

"Oh sorry Avery. This is my soul twin Titus. He is the dragon king of the west. I'm afraid he has a strong aura, and it burns some people who get too close."

Avery wiped her forehead and finally landed at a comfortable distance away from Titus. "It isn't bad as long as I am not right up on top of him. Nice to meet you. I'd shake your hand, but I prefer not getting burned." Avery giggled.

"Sorry about that. I can't control it." Titus frowned feeling bad.

"Nonsense. It is just who you are. You better be taking good care of her. She is my favorite of Tyler's daughters." Avery scolded playfully.

"You mean I am his only daughter." Rhea giggled.

"Have you seen Adam and Susan? They were supposed to come over for dinner, but I haven't heard from them. I guess I can understand why now." Avery smiled looking at Rhea.

"They are both at the pack house. Cody is here too. You should go say hi to him. Also, my Lee is here. He is in the middle of being interrogated." Rhea bit her bottom lip and smiled. "Oh! And you just left him there to be eaten alive?! Don't worry I'll save him." Avery looked towards the pack house and stomped off determined before Rhea could say anything. "Well, I guess my cover is about to be blown." Rhea stuck her tongue out and winked at Titus.

"You have a nice family here Rhea. This looks like it was a great place to grow up." Titus looked around and breathed in the refreshing air. It wasn't as pure as his mountain air, but it was still nice.

"It was a great place to grow up. But now it is WE have a nice family here. You are part of my family now Titus. You know that right? We aren't just being nice. We really feel that way." Rhea watched as Titus stared off in the distance, he nodded his head with a small smile on his face. "Besides, we are rocking the dragon kingdom now."

Freya's body suddenly tensed up. She scanned over everyone looking for the one person she was concerned about. She wasn't there. She watched as Avery walked up to Wyatt who was talking with Lee. Freya started feeling an intense feeling of dread. Her senses were tingling with a familiar presence. One that had her on full alert. She closed her eyes and focused quickly. She needed to concentrate. Something was about to happen. She breathed in the scent she was looking for and began to hunt. This time she was hunting to find Rhea.

Rhea dropped to her knees as a heavy existence pushed itself into her mind. Titus' arms were around her immediately. He kept calling out to her, but her eyes went dark. She was deep in her subconscious.

In a swift blur another presence was at Rhea's side. Titus looked up to see Freya kneeling down in front of her. She was panting heavily, and she knelt down in front of Rhea.

"Damn it, he has already gotten to her." Freya clenched her teeth. She then looked up to Titus. "You have to reach her."

"What is going on?" Titus listened as more mad scrambles made it to them. Lee sat behind Rhea and pulled her into his chest. While Wyatt knelt down next to Freya. Cody and Jason were also there. All of them were fixated on Rhea.

"It's Mephisto. I felt his presence for a moment, but it is cloaked again." Freya looked at Wyatt worried. "Maybe Titus can reach her? She must be communicating with him."

Lee snarled loudly. "Mephisto?! One of the original demons? Well, that's just perfect." He knew Mephisto would be a strong opponent. Things were not going to be easy if he was involved.

"I can try to pull her out." Titus said....

Meanwhile...

Rhea looked around in the darkness. A thick presence hung in the air making it hard to breath. She looked out defiantly into the blackness. "What do you want?"

"Where is your fear?" A deep voice hissed.

His voice resounded with power and there was an evil air that shot chills down her spine. Still, this jerk had invaded her mind. "No place you can find it." She spat back angrily.

A sinister dark deep chuckle crept through the air. "Maybe my son did have the right idea. You aren't what I expected you to be."

"Your son?" Rhea's breath caught in her chest as she heard those glass shattering words.

"Yes, well the one you killed. I can see now he had the right idea. Just not enough ambition. Pity."

"What do you mean, the right idea? You mean with this war?" Rhea was hoping that is what he was talking about.

A deep cackle echoed in Rhea's mind as a presence walked forward. It was a man with bulging muscles, black beaded eyes, and raven black hair. He smiled at Rhea. "Well that too." His eyes looked over her form and a creepy smile rose over his face. "You are a very strong fairy princess. Such a waste to only belong to the fairy realm. Too much of a waste in fact."

"Who are you?" Rhea looked at the man in defiance.

"I am Mephisto. An original demon. And you... you are going to be my toy. It's the least you can do for killing my son."

Rhea scoffed and folded her arms over her chest. "How revolting."

"Abaddon was right. Mixing our blood with yours will create a powerful offspring. An opportunity I can't let go to waste." "Sorry I am already taken. I have a mate."

"You might be already taken but your womb is not. And that's what I'm interested in." Mephisto took a few steps closer to Rhea who held her ground. She locked her gaze on him with unrelenting determination. "And that mate of yours? Yes, Leviathan. Mmhmm | know. Don't worry. I'll be taking care of him soon. We can't have a nuisance like him around ruining our love affair."

Rhea narrowed her eyes at the demon and a low growl escaped her throat. "I'll kill you if you touch him." Mephisto chuckled as he eyed his prize in front of him.

"I'll look forward to taming that spirit of yours." Mephisto reached his hand out towards Rhea but a bright light illuminated over her.

He took a few retreating steps backwards and then sneered at the light in disgust.

"You are about to cross a dangerous line. This child is MINE!" A woman's voice boomed loudly.

"Meddlesome goddess. Have you not learned your lesson? Stay out of my business." Mephisto growled at the light.

"You are going to make the void spin out of control again. I won't allow it." The woman's voice hissed out.

Another figure soon walked in. A woman with black hair, pale skin and black beaded eyes. "I see you have finally decided to reveal your hands to us." The woman sneered.

"Selene and Kali back at meddling in the world again. Balance doesn't exist. It is an unrealistic illusion that you have set up in your mind. There will always be one side stronger." Mephisto sneered at Kali in disgust.

"Strength has nothing to do with balance. Balance is about the order that is maintained. And you are disturbing that balance. The balance we have been working hard to restore." Kali spat at Mephisto angrily.

Mephisto smirked at Kali. "It doesn't matter what you do. You can't get Endymion back. You might as well just hand this world over to me."

Kali glared at the demon with contempt. A bright light filled the dark room as a woman with blonde shining hair appeared. "This world does not belong to you. This is Endymion's world. And I'll never let you taint it with your disgusting filth." Selene said scornfully. Mephisto grinned evilly at Selene. And then he gave her a fake sympathetic frown. "It's just such a shame that Endymion is no longer here to take care of this world." With those words Selene's light raged out of control. She was going to destroy Mephisto herself.

"You can't! Selene, you mustn't." Kali snapped quickly reminding Selene of everything they were working to accomplish. If Selene was to kill Mephisto she would be disturbing the balance. No, he needed to be destroyed but, in the chess match they had been setting up over the centuries.

Mephisto then redirected his gaze to Rhea. He looked over her energy deeper. There was a reason these two meddlesome women were protecting this girl. There was a reason they revealed themselves before they got to deal their hand. He curled his lip and then clicked his tongue in disgust. "You truly are a meddlesome woman." He growled at Selene.

"You do know you are being used right?" Mephisto said matter-of-factly to Rhea. "You are just another part of this game they are playing."

"Who is playing games?!" Kali spat out bitterly.

"Talking to the girl." Mephisto clicked his tongue and shook his head. "So rude." He then smirked evilly. "They are going to use you to get what they want. They are planning to risk your life to get what they want. Oops." He feigned as if he let their secret slip and held his hand up to his mouth. "I gather she wasn't supposed to know that until it was too late."

Selene and Kali glared quietly over at Mephisto. He sneered at the two and shook his head. "Same game, just different pawns I see. Well, you all have a lot to catch up on." He turned and looked at Rhea. "I'll be seeing you real soon. You belong to me." He winked at her with a cruel smile before he began to fade.

Rhea watched as his figure vanished from her mind. Yet she remained trapped with the two woman who both turned to face Rhea. They met with her gaze and Rhea waited for them to explain themselves. There must be something to what the demon was saying since they never refuted it. She wanted to know the gist of what they were wanting of her. And how dangerous it actually was.
