Dr. Luna
Chapter 28

Tyler and Jessica were standing by the pack house talking. Jessica was giving him the fake pouting lips and was talking to him about something. She reached up and sat her hand on his arm and she was surprised to see him glare at the hand angrily. She could see his demeanor was tense, but he didn't knock her hand off either. Was he trying to piss her off? Because he succeeded. Was he still feeling bad for Jessica? Because the sympathy ship has long set sail. Did he not want to embarrass her in front of the pack? Okay, she admitted she was jealous, it was obvious Tyler was not appreciating her touch. He looked irritated listening to her, more then that... he actually looked disgusted with her. This time the problem wasn't Tyler... Lilly had a problem with Jessica. She was not just wanting to remain friends with Tyler. Lilly turned and looked in the opposite direction, she needed to hop off the jealousy train before she did something stupid. 'Instead of punching Jessica last night, I should have snapped her neck. Yeah, doing something stupid like that. Then the sound of Jessica's shrill scream was heard, and Lilly whipped her head back around to see what was going on. Cedric had made a barrier, but it only stopped the lesser fairies from entering. It did nothing to those that were already inside of the barrier, like the brownies from earlier today. Lilly looked on as they began to scratch at Jessica's lower legs causing small burns and scrapes on the exposed skin. Jessica then jumped into Tyler's arms and motioned to her injured legs. One step forward and two step backs. It was a shame the brownies couldn't do more damage than just a few bloody scrapes.

Lilly turned to Cedric. "I like them, let them stay."

"Ooooh what happened?" Avery crept up closer to Lilly trying to figure out what she couldn't see. Lilly whispered briefly in Avery's ear to explain. "Now that the situation in front of us has become this noticeable, the pack will be looking to see how you respond." Depending on the pack, especially between a Luna and Alpha, it would not be uncalled for to see Lilly attack Jessica. The problem here lies with Tyler. The Alpha can allow whatever he wanted. Usually, they always adhered to their Luna's wishes, but this was not the case with Tyler. He had shown on more than one occasion to still be protective over Jessica.

Lilly thought about how she wanted to handle the situation. This would show the pack how she would respond and, in a sense, could be seen as a test. Lilly might have hopped onto the jealousy wagon, but she had a benevolent nature... most of the time. "It seems there are some unwanted creatures in our pack territory." Tyler's voice boomed out as he carried Jessica to a seat in the pavilion. He had no issues with the fairies, but if they were going to attack his pack then that was a problem.

Unwanted creatures? Lilly turned and faced him. She met his eyes confidently. It was true that Cedric did call the lesser fairies pests, but she felt protective over the little fairies who were trying to help her. "What creatures, Alpha?" One of the pack warriors asked as he looked around.

"It seems to be the work of fairies." Tyler's eyes met with Lilly's as he spoke the words.

"Are fairies unwanted creatures in this pack?" Lilly's voice was commanding and one of a Luna's.

"They are if they harm my pack." Tyler shifted and straightened himself up as he met with Lilly's gaze.

"Harm your pack? Hmmm." Lilly leaned to her side and looked over at Jessica and then straightened back up. "It looks to me like they were just trying to take out the trash."

Several whispers and snickers were heard throughout the pack while they all were waiting intently for their Alpha's response. Tyler's eyes flickered towards Lilly in amusement as he waited for her to continue.

"I don't see how delicate fairies could harm this pack, they are strong werewolves, are they not? The pack fights in wars and are rough. They break bones while they spar together. They play pranks that are rough and dangerous. This is a tough pack who are not intimidated of unwanted guests who have done no more than leave a few scratches on someone of no significance." Lilly smirked at Tyler as she heard the pack acknowledging what she said. Little did they know, she was mocking Tyler from earlier.

A low dark chuckle came threateningly out of Tyler's mouth. "Since I have such a strong pack then I should just let weak bugs bother us? I should not care if weaker packs growl at us because my pack is strong enough to defend itself? No. Strong packs stay strong because they do not let any threat, no matter how big or small, grow to become something more. We are not disrespected or wounded without lashing back. Because we are a powerful pack, we make sure to keep it that way. We demand respect, from all." The pack affirmations were heard throughout his members. He had made a valid point and they were now backing their Alpha in full support.

Lilly was not done. He was laying down the grounds for war against fairies. This was a seed he had just planted, knowingly or not, and she was not going to let it sprout. She was used to being an outsider, so why worry about that changing now?

"So, what if an outsider attacks a pack member in defense of a pack member? Or what if they do it in self-defense? Are your conditions situational? Or do you proclaim a one pack domination and do not care for the outsider's reasons?" Lilly felt Cedric and Avery's presence near her. They were outwardly showing the pack that they were supporting her. It wasn't just them though. Kade had also made his way to his Luna's side. He was going to show his support for Lilly as well.

"Of course, situations play a role. When my pack members are wrong then they are punished for it. If someone is protecting one of my members from another that is also considered. We are not out just for blood." The atmosphere was tense as the two stood off from one another. What was supposed to be a moment of celebration was turning into a showdown.

"I see... so what is your problem with the fairies exactly then?" Lilly folded her arms and glared at Tyler angrily.

Tyler let out an airy laugh and pointed over to Jessica's leg. "They injured a pack member. It is uncalled for."

"Correction. They attacked a member of your pack in defense of your Luna. They did not like her so close to you with her hands on you, since you belong to me, so they clawed at her. It's a shame they weren't any bigger... maybe they could have done some actual damage." Lilly looked over at the pack as they began to murmur among themselves. "If you are wondering why they would do this, it is because I am also part fairy." And it was out, though Lilly did not care. Fairies may have liked to keep their secret, but Lilly didn't think like them. She was not raised as a fairy. And if this would help the pack view fairies differently, then she was willing to expose herself. "A fairy isn't welcomed if they injure a member of your pack... so what about the punch I landed on Jessica last night?" Lilly smirked as she eyed Jessica's embarrassed face. Some more light snickers were heard throughout the pack, apparently, there were not a lot of Jessica fans.

Cedric sighed and looked around the pack. He was prepared to flee with her if he had to. Their pack had always welcomed others, but this is the first time they knew about having a fairy among their pack. He watched the pack members interestingly, they all seemed to be waiting to hear from Tyler.

Lilly just threw Tyler in an awkward situation. She just announced that she was a fairy. This was something he was hoping to discuss in a pack meeting in an open discussion. He was wanting to include his pack and would need to now hold a pack meeting. Their pack was strong because the trust was strong. While he could make any decision he wanted to, he always liked involving the pack in it. Not choosing Lilly was never an option, but he needed the pack to understand what their options were. He wanted to know how they really felt. What started out as anger because of his jealousy had turned into a bigger issue. Inwardly, he couldn't be bursting with more pride and love for Lilly. She presented herself with confidence and authority... she was everything an Alpha could ask for in a Luna. She stood up to him beautifully and presented a valid argument. He had to hold back his own snicker when she mentioned the fairies taking out the trash.

He looked over the pack, he had wanted to talk with them before this came into light. He did not want them to feel like he was hiding anything from them. He wanted to hear from his pack, and he needed to do it without Lilly there so that they felt they could talk freely. He would address any concerns that they might have. If the pack wouldn't accept Lilly, then they didn't accept him. He was not going to lose her, and he wouldn't force her to live where she was unwelcomed. Her pack did that to her once, he would never subject her to that again. If it came down to it, he would leave with her. She was that important to him.

"Since everyone is here, we need to have a pack meeting. Lilly, will you please leave us for a bit." Tyler's eyes softened as he looked over to her. He wanted to mind link her and explain but the barrier was making that difficult. He could only explain to her later why he was asking her to leave. He wanted his pack to feel that they could speak the truth and was afraid they wouldn't in her presence.

Lilly's breath caught in her chest. She thought she was a member of the pack. Was she not their Luna? Wow, this place was not far off from her own pack. The Alpha's daughter was never included, so why should the Alpha's Luna be included. At the end of the day, she was still Lilly, the half-breed. She walked away from everyone without a word. She walked towards the pack house and around to the front, but she did not enter it. She continued to walk away and into the woods. The fairies did not seem to mind that she was a half-breed. They accepted Cedric and her willingly. She felt a resentment creep into her towards her werewolf kind.

It was her pack of werewolves that had kept her in isolation and treated her like she was the plague. It was werewolves that continued to make her feel like she was not welcomed. Kira whimpered in her head, feeling dejected over Lilly's thoughts. 'Kira, you have been mistreated by werewolves too. It looks like the fairies accept both of us, without having to hold a meeting first. Lilly rolled her eyes mentally at the last part. Tyler should have just said she is my mate and I accept her, so you should too. He did not even say that he accepted her. She told him she was magical before, she did not know she was a fairy though, and he didn't care. If it was such a big deal, then he should have said something. Then again, why should he care now? He sealed the mating bond and marked her. He got what he wanted. Now he can continue to play around with his mistress. Lilly's gut was wrenching as her thoughts spiraled into unpleasant feelings. Of course, you know how the mind works; it likes to play games and trick you into thinking up the worst scenarios.

Before she knew it, she had mindlessly walked deep into the forest. The barrier Cedric had set up was in front of her and she could see several different creatures waiting on the outside of the border. They had been waiting for her.
