Dr. Luna -
Chapter 30
Lilly's head was throbbing as she began to move around. She slowly opened her eyes, wincing from the pain she was feeling. She looked up to a tall wooden ceiling with windows streaming in the daylight, it was a small one room building. This was not familiar to her. She tried to remember what happened. She was in the woods, was with fairies, had met a centaur and... Lilly sat up and looked around. She had been taken. "Calm down. You are alright. The grogginess will wear off soon, it was just a sleeping drug." The familiar centaur gently spoke to her.
"Who are you? Who do you think you are to just take me? Wait... you drugged me? I demand to go home!" Lilly furrowed her eyes and spat fire at the centaur. The centaur chuckled. "You sure are a feisty one. My name is Drake and what is your name?"
Lilly looked less than amused at having introductions. "It's Lilly. A bit late for that though isn't it? What do you want with me?" Drake looked at her with amusement. "All we want is to keep you safe. You will stay with us, until a guardian comes for you." "Well, how exactly is a guardian going to find me here... wherever here is." Lilly looked around the room and threw her hands up.
"If a guardian is looking for you, he will find you." Drake replied simply.
"You can't just keep me here. I don't need you to keep me safe. I am fine on my own. I want to return back to my pack." Lilly stood up from the bed and crossed her arms. She had no intentions of just waiting around. She did not ask for their protection and she did not want it. She was going to leave.
"You have no idea what is out there waiting for you, looking for you. We can not possibly let you leave Drake shrugged Lilly off at the laughable idea.
"I was not asking." Lilly walked past him and opened the door. She saw several wooden buildings in the wooded area in front of her. When she looked beyond that, her eyes widened in awe. The area was surrounded by large rocky boulders. There were beautiful tall pine trees that layered the outside of the stone wall of rocks. To her side was a cascading waterfall that fell into a small pond. It would have been lovely if not for her circumstances. She took a few steps further out so that she could further analyze the area. There were centaurs everywhere. It was a village of centaurs. She had a small moment of fan girl excitement that she had to quickly reel back in. 'Remember Lilly you have been abducted. This is not the time to get excited... But they are centaurs! I know and I was taken by a centaur. True. True. So we are mad... in all senses... yes we are mad.' Lilly had an inner dialog with herself as she stared at the village.
"I'm sorry, but we cannot allow you to leave. I know it is hard for you to understand, but it is for your own good." Drake came up beside her and looked down at her.
"What if I refuse and try to leave anyway? How do you plan to stop me?" Lilly was thinking about shifting into Kira. The centaurs were quick but so was Kira. The problem was, she did not know where to run to. She had no idea where she was.
"Now don't be difficult. You can try to leave all you want, but you will find that you will not be able to leave, no matter what form you are in." Drake smirked at her, seemingly reading her mind. "What we did was for your own good. We had our clan witch bind you. You will not be able to leave our village. You are free to roam about as you please."
A desperate feeling rose inside of Lilly when she heard him talk. Could she really not leave? Then, suddenly, an idea came to her. She tried to mind link to Tyler, but there was nothing. She could not reach him. Was she too far away? Or maybe it was because of Cedric's barrier... Cedric! Cedric was also part wolf and part fairy! Maybe she could reach Cedric?
It was no use. She could not connect to him either. She looked around at the mighty centaurs. Would her pack come for her? If they did it, would be a gruesome battle. What if they didn't come? What if the guardian never came? Was she to stay here forever? "What if a guardian never shows up?" Lilly asked quietly. She was not submitting, but she was curious what they had in store.
"When we feel it is safe enough, we will take you to Elysium." Drake looked at her confused expression and continued to elaborate. "It is the realm of the fairies where the fairy kingdom is located. You really do not know anything about your kind and about yourself?" Drake looked at her sadly.
"I know about werewolves, which are also my kind." Lilly did not like how he kept dismissing that part about her. She may not know about fairies, but she could learn. It was only half of who she was.
"Hmph, werewolves are such a divisive species. They fight among themselves and have a Luna and Alpha for every pack they have. They have too many human characteristics." Drake's tone was bitter; he was not a fan of werewolves.
"I'm half werewolf. So why don't you feel like that about me?" Lilly was getting annoyed with his dislike for werewolves, even if she also had a dislike for her kind as well.
Drake's eyes were gentle as he met with hers. "You are so much more than that. You are one of a kind, we have all been waiting for you. You have no idea how rare and special you are, do you?" He looked at her confused expression and sighed. "How many packs of werewolves are there? How many Luna's and Alphas are there in the world? In the fairy kingdom, there is but one in the world. In the whole world, there are maybe one hundred high fairies. Then there is you, the only high fairy that is also mixed with the blood of an Alpha. You are special and important to the fairy world. You have yet to awaken, but soon you will understand."
Lilly really did not want to hear about how important and special she was. For someone so important, she had felt alone most of her life. Lilly quietly gazed over the village she was brought to. Children centaurs were running and playing together, adults were talking and laughing amongst themselves. All she had ever wanted was to feel like she belonged, like they did. She had her few precious people, but she never belonged in the Silver moon pack. She had felt like she had finally found her place with the Diamond pack, but had she? They had held a pack meeting over her acceptance in the pack when she left. What had they decided? Then there was the issue with Tyler and Jessica... did she really want to go back to that? She felt her chest tighten at the thought of not being with Tyler. To leave him would be like depriving her body of oxygen. He was that important to her, but how important was she to him? Would he even come for her?
A warm breeze swirled around Lilly as the sun flickered upon her. It was like it was reminding her that life was still happening around her. She was not going to worry about what she did not know right then. She was going to learn about this tribe of centaurs. Maybe she could be the bridge between them and werewolves? She did not know centaurs existed before today, so she was going to take this time and learn about them. She would take a day or two and learn about her surroundings. She needed to form a plan. She would not worry if someone would come for her. She would rescue herself when the time came.
"I'd like to meet your village." Lilly's voice was quiet as she looked over the other centaurs. She was determined to make the most of her situation.
Drake smiled and nodded. "I hoped you would."
He led her down into their village center. There was a small fountain that was surrounded by tall log houses. The centaurs began to gather and were watching Lilly curiously. They were looking at her with looks of awe in their eyes, like she was a rare, precious gem. Lilly was curious about them too; they were the mythical creatures that didn't exist until today.
"This is Lilly; you all know who she is. She will be staying with us for a bit. She has not fully awakened so I trust that no one will do anything to provoke her awakening. For now, treat her like the honored guest that she is." The centaurs all listened intently to Drake. It was clear that he had a position of leadership among the clan.
In the distance, a commotion was heard. There was yelling and frantic voices coming towards them. Lilly glanced up to see a group of male centaurs approaching them. They were aiding one in the middle.
"What happened?" Drake went to the approaching group and was looking over the man in the middle.
"It was one of the rogue werewolves. He got the jump on him. He took him down, but he has been severely wounded. Where is the doctor at?" One of the centaurs helping hold the injured one up asked.
"Get him into the medical building. We will have to see if we can reach him. He left this morning for more supplies from town. He is supposed to be gone a couple of days." Drake was worried as he looked over the injuries. He was not sure if he would make it until the doctor came back.
"Get him to your medical building. I know nothing about centaur anatomy, but a wound is a wound. I'll do the best I can." Lilly walked up and looked at the injuries. They were mainly on the top half which was a human body. "I am a doctor." Drake turned and looked at her, then nodded for the centaurs to lead the way. "I'll show you to the supplies."
Lilly followed Drake into a tall building. There were four large examination tables that were custom made. Drake motioned to a large walk in closet. Inside was everything that Lilly would need. She would need to get the bleeding under control and give him something for the pain. She got out what she would need for stitches as well. She held the supplies in her hand and walked over to the examination table.
The wounds on the centaur were deep. It looked to be from canines sinking in and claw marks down his back. Rogue werewolves were always a problem, for everyone. They were unpredictable and often held a chip on their shoulder. She could tell from the injuries that this rogue had meant to kill. The centaur's life depended on her now. It was the first time since medical school that she had been presented with a life or death situation. She had studied and prepared for a moment like this. With a deep breath, she confidently proceeded. She was going to give medical aid to a centaur.
