BOOK Chapter2

The next day, I woke up late. By the time I had packed my things and slung my sketchbook over my shoulder, it was already past lunchtime. Grace waved me over.

"Sienna, we saved some food for you."

Everyone was chatting at the wooden table in the courtyard. As soon as Jessica saw me, she dashed into the house and came back out holding an orange envelope, offering it to me like a treasure. "Sienna, since we don't have many close family members, we'd like to formally invite you to our wedding."

A formal invitation. I took the envelope but didn't have the courage to open it and

look at the card inside. Jessica kept nudging me, "Sienna, you're an artist, right?

Can you tell us how the design looks?"

That thin piece of paper felt as heavy as a boulder in my hands.

"Let me see. This color is lovely," Grace chimed in quickly.

"I think so too! Ethan picked this orange. I had chosen purple, but the orange turned out better. Sienna, what's your favorite color?"

I put down my sketchbook and pointed to my orange outfit.

Before high school, I didn't have a favorite color, until one day I wore an orange

jacket, and Ethan said it looked great on me. From that moment on, orange became my favorite color.

"Sienna, you have the same taste as my Ethan!"

My Ethan.

Those words pierced my heart. Once upon a time, Ethan used to proudly call me

"My Sienna" in front of everyone.

Seeing the change in my expression, Grace quickly took the invitation from my hand.

"The little cartoon inside looks just like you-so cute. Is the wedding at sunset?"

Jessica rubbed her face, "That was Ethan's idea! He said..."

"Because someone can't wake up early."

Jessica stared at me, surprised. "Sienna, how did you know?! That's exactly what

Ethan said! But the main thing is, he really loves sunsets."

Ethan had always said his favorite time of day was sunset because it was when

Sleeping Beauty turned into his girlfriend.

I've always been a deep sleeper. In high school, waking up at 5:30 was pure torture for me. For three years, every morning, I sat on the back of Ethan's bike, hugging him and continuing my sleep with my eyes closed. I could dream three different dreams. during a ten-minute break, and every time I woke up, his jacket was draped over me. I remember once, half-asleep, I heard someone sigh by my ear, "You sleep so much... what am I going to do with you on our wedding day?"

On the morning of my 24th birthday, I was woken up by the scratch of his stubble.

I pushed him away to sleep a little longer, but he pulled me into his arms, gently patting my back. In a hoarse voice, he whispered, "Sienna, let's have our wedding at sunset, okay?"

I hummed in agreement. He kissed my forehead and sighed contentedly, "My little sleepyhead needs to be well-rested, or you might refuse to marry me. Who will I complain to then?" But now, it's not that I refuse to marry him-it's that he's marrying someone else.

And there's no one to complain to.

I stood up and grabbed my sketchbook. At that moment, Jessica noticed the ring on my finger. She stared at it, and I wiggled my hand slightly, "He said the same thing." "You're married, Sienna?"

"Yeah, I've been married for five years."

Jessica looked surprised. "So where's your husband? Didn't he come with you?"

I glanced at the man walking in the distance and shook my head slightly.
