"Okay!" I nodded seriously. "Are you going back to Jelaston now?"

"Yes, seeing for myself that you're okay will make me feel at ease." "Jack, you don't have to..."

I sighed in relief, smiling gratefully, and said nothing more.

The calls were from Frank.

I realized I had set my phone to silent before going to bed last night and forgotten to turn it back on during the day. I had been so focused on clients in the afternoon that I hadn't checked my phone. The urgency in his calls was out of character for him.
