Chapter 103

Early the next morning, beams of warm sunlight shone into the room through the thin curtains, interrupting a certain. someone’s sleep. Pouting, she turned to face another side of the bed in an attempt to shy away from the lights, but it still seemed to be too bright for her even when she did that.

But soon, she felt that the sunlight had disappeared. Finally, a satisfied smile appeared on her face, and her dimples became. more evident.

On the other hand, a man was propping himself up with his elbow in a lazy, yet elegant manner.

He blocked the sunlight from reaching her, and when he noticed the faint smile on her face, his mood became better as well.

“Is this how it feels to sleep on the same bed as her?” he wondered.

For the whole night, he was worried that she would fall off the bed, or she would kick the blankets away. Amidst all that, she, clamored for water due to the alcohol in her system. He was busy taking care of her the entire night, just like he was caring for a little girl.

However, he did not feel tired at all. Instead, he was enjoying himself, finding this type of life pretty good.

It allowed him to be real and honest with his emotions. He could smile when he was happy, and he could frown when he was displeased. He did not need to put on an act in front of her.

She was innocent, and her eyes were brighter than anyone else’s.

On top of that, he couldn’t bear to let her come into contact with the more complicated side of him as he hated that side of himself as well.

She troubled him the whole night. Although he did not get a night of good sleep, he felt that everything was worth it when he saw her smiling in the morning.

He poked her dimples with his finger, arousing her dissatisfaction. “Susan, stop messing with me. I’m so tired…”

As soon as she said that, she suddenly felt that something was wrong because Susan would never enter her room.

Not fully awake yet, she opened her eyes suspiciously.

When she turned around, she bumped into an iron chest. It made her break out in a cold sweat and sat up in shock.

The man was lying next to her and propped up on his elbow while looking at her, smiling.

His smile reminded her of the Wolf in the Little Red Riding Hood

“He’s smiling? What’s that smile supposed to mean?” she thought.

Her first reaction was to examine her body quickly, only to find that her clothes were still the same as yesterday, reeking of alcohol. Plus, she did not feel like her legs were jelly, or that her limbs felt that they had been torn apart, as described by the novels and shows on TV. At most, she was just having a headache due to her hangover.

Then here came the problem.

Why was he looking at her with such a deviant smile?

What happened last night? Wasn’t she drinking?

In just a few seconds, Edith’s heart was already in turmoil. Many things were flashing across her mind at once.

She trembled and had only managed to speak after some time. “Why are you in my room? What happened… between us last night?”

The man repeated the same few words and the smile on his face froze instantly before it disappeared without a trace.

One second ago, his world was still bright, but it was hit by a tornado the next. She was in awe at how fast his expression could change.

“Did I say something wrong?” she thought uncontrollably.

Carlos was in a foul mood. He had made it so clear yesterday, so he expected her to regard him as her husband today.

“What did you call me?” he asked coldly.

This question scared her. She was the one who was suffering from a loss here. Even if they hadn’t had sex, she would still be

the one at a loss.

Why was he angry instead?

Suddenly, she said in a trembling voice, “If you think it’s old–fashioned… Ah!”

Before she could finish her sentence, he had kicked her out of bed.

She rolled onto the carpet together with the blanket. Although it didn’t hurt, she felt that her self–esteem had suffered a

blow.

In the novels she read, it was always the women who kicked the men off the bed. Why did everything change when it came

to her?

She looked at him in trepidation, having no idea what had happened.
