Fall For “My Husband’s Uncle” By Janet Macadam -
Chapter 126
Chapter 126
In fact, Edith got queasy when she walked away.
She did not know what Carlos would say to the man and the woman. She had a hunch that the three of them were close and she was just an outsider.
She was an outsider to them.
At the thought of that, she realized that she did not know much about Carlos. Was he gay? What had he gone through? Who were his friends? She only knew that Robert, Brain and Aaron were friends with him and she had met them.
She was ignorant of his family and love life.
Even so, she still allowed herself to have an ambiguous relationship with him. What was wrong with her?
She suddenly became aware that she should put a stop to this. The consequence of seeing Carlos might not something she could handle. So why did she bother to be concerned with him?
At the thought of that, she let out a deep sigh of relief. But in the meanwhile, she felt as if there were something made her
suffocate.
The moment she decided to keep her distance from him, her heart somehow ached.
At this point, Carlos narrowed his eyes at the man and said seriously. “Did you come back for our five–year pact, Edward?”
“Isn’t there still three months left before the five–year deadline? I thought you were still alone, but I didn’t expect you to have a new lover so soon. This man was crazy about you, but now he’s still with someone else,” Edward said sarcastically.
When she heard this, she arched her eyebrows and looked at him unhappily.
“Do you have to be this mean, Edward Jones?” she said.
When Edward heard her emotionless voice, his heart slightly ached as he gnashed his teeth to endure the pain.
However, he didn’t show his real emotions. The derisive sneer froze around his lips.
“The deadline of our pact is close. Don’t you want to get back with him? You once were a perfect match. To make you good enough for Carlos, Rubby Lawson even helped you fake your social status. Your mother made a big concession for you. Carlos, Edward scoffed.
“That was the past, Edward. The deadline is around the corner. Even if Carlos doesn’t want me, I won’t be with you,” Natalie said.
“Tsk! Tsk! What are you talking about? How could Carlos push you away? He has kept his virginity for you for five years!” Edward said to Natalie.
“Carlos, I got things to attend to, so I have to go right now. I can’t let her go home alone. I’m worried about her safety. After
task is dangerous. If someone intends to shoot me on the way and she is with me…” And there Edward stopped for he knew that Carlos would understand what he meant.
all.

After saying that, he turned around and took off without any hesitation.
Natalie stared at his fading figure; her eyes filled with sorrow.
She didn’t get it. She had been by Edward’s side for five years. But he was still sensitive and paranoid, as if nothing could make him feel secure.
He fed off other people‘ pain. When he saw that Carlos got upset, he felt great. And that Aaron felt unhappy also made him happy.
It seemed that nothing could cure his sensitivity and vulnerability.
Even though she treated him well for five years, he still didn’t believe her. His words always hurt her heart.
Carlos drew closer to her and wanted to pat her shoulder to comfort her, but he didn’t have the courage to do so.
He had always felt that he owed Natalie.
In the end, he clenched his hand into a tight fist and put it down. Standing beside her, he offered, “You’re pregnant now. Let me give you a ride home.”
“Didn’t you come with a lady? Isn’t she the one you’re into?” Natalie asked.
Her words hit him like a thunderbolt, left him in his thought.
He had never thought about how he felt about Edith. All he knew was that he didn’t want to let her go, enjoyed having her by his side and he had seen her as his wife and no one could take her place.
However, he didn’t dare admit how he felt about her.
But Natalie pointed it out, which made him aware that he had been in love with her.
If he didn’t love her, why would he feel heartbroken and stand up for her when she was in a difficult spot?
If he didn’t love her, why would he want her to be his wife forever?
If he didn’t love her, why would he want to find her the second he heard that she was in trouble?
He had done too many insane things for her, and the only explanation was that he had fallen in love with her.
Realizing how he felt about Edith, he didn’t know how to answer.
Seeing that he went silent, Natalie smiled bitterly.
“I’ve changed in the past five years, and so have you. I’ll take a taxi. You should keep her company,” she said.
“How can I let you leave alone? I’ll tell her. Give me a second,” Carlos said with a frown.
“I don’t need a lift. It’s not like I can’t take care of myself…” she insisted.
“Come on, cut it out,” Carlos said tenderly. He always had a soft spot for Natalie.
Natalie knew him so well that she knew that she couldn’t make him change his mind. Before she could say something, he
went to look for Edith.
Edith had already gotten all the things she needed. Seeing Carlos heading her way from afar, she thought that he had attended to his things. She gushed, “Uncle Carlos, we can go home now.”
“Edith, I’m going to send someone home. Why don’t you call a cab? I’ll see you in the villa,” he said.
“Uncle Carlos… who are you giving a ride?” she asked gingerly.
She was actually very nervous when she blurted it out.
They had come across a man and a woman. Was he taking both of them home? Or was he only giving one of them a lift?
Chapter 126
It’s just an acquaintance. Wait for me at home. I’ll walk you to a taxi in case you take the bus to save money again. It’s not like the Lawson family can’t support you,” he said.
Carlos led her to the checkout counter. In the end, it was he who paid the bill. He watched as she got into a taxi.
A couple of minutes later, she was far away from the market. She could have asked the driver to speed up but she didn’t.
She let the driver stop at the intersection and wait there.
Soon, Carlos‘ car came into view. She could see the passenger’s seat.
She saw clearly that a woman was sitting there. It was the one they had met in the supermarket earlier.
Carlos was talking to her, and none of them noticed the taxi where Edith was in at all.
If Carlos looked out of the window, would he see the disappointment and sadness in Edith’s eyes?
Edith didn’t understand why she was so upset.
She took it so hard that she wished she could cry in a corner to vent her feelings.
She wanted to share all her grievances with the darkness, but she didn’t know why she would have such emotions.
The driver noticed that her eyes were red as if she would burst into tears any time. He felt sorry for her.
“Is that your boyfriend? Did he cheat on you behind your back? Do you need me to follow that car? I’ve gotten paid to do it a lot,” he said kindly.
“No, thanks. He… has nothing to do with me,” Edith said.
As soon as those words jumped out of her lips, the driver came to a realization again.
Perhaps she had a secret crush on that guy. When she saw him with another woman, of course, she would take it hard.
