290 I Love All Your Perfections and Imperfections

Wayne froze when he heard her words and then looked at Anna in confusion.

"I don't want to hear anything about what happened that day again. I'm not interested in her, and I'm not interested in what she said. You don't have to keep reminding me about it." Anna lowered her head and explained briefly.

Meanwhile, she purposefully avoided mentioning the point.

She wasn't worried that Wayne would believe Lillian and think she had actually had group s*x with several men that night. But she was afraid that Lillian would be so irrational that she would claim she had beer in the wrong room and become Wayne's surrogate mother.

She knew if Wayne knew what happened that night six years ago, she'd be screwed.

So, she just wanted to get it over with as soon as possible and prevent him from bringing it up again.

However, Anna was unaware that Wayne had misunderstood her.

With a tight frown, he looked at Anna's back, and his expression became more solemn.

Later, Wayne called Gabe after dinner while Anna went back to her bedroom to shower.

Gabe sounded perplexed and said, "Well, it's been six years since the incident happened, you know. Plus, Allie Gabriel is no longer alive. So, I don't think that there's a way for me to find out the truth." Wayne looked serious and said indifferently, "Stop making excuses. I expect you to figure out who the five men are within the next three days. And I don't care what method you use or whether its legal. You know exactly what to do then."

Gabe sighed as he sat on the couch after hanging up the phone.

Anna had just gotten into bed when Wayne wrapped his arms around her.

She froze and then reminded him, "Did you forget that you have a cold? Don't infect me, please!"

"Don't worry; I'm healed," Wayne whispered. He pressed his face against her neck, making her tingle all over.

"How dare you lie to me?" Anna asked as she immediately realized what he was talking about.

She wondered why Wayne's cold hadn't cleared up after so long. Besides, he seemed to be in good spirits and didn't appear to be sick at all

Wayne wrapped his arms around her and said before she turned around, "Oh, that's because I couldn't bear to leave you.

"Huh? What?"

"You have been very sweet to me when I was sick."

"Huh?" Anna returned her gaze to him, perplexed as to why he had said that. However, she couldn't see Wayne's expression because he was resting his chin against her brow. Wayne was usually reserved and even aloof. And yet, his tone was very gentle at the time.

He spoke slowly, "Anna, I love you for being you. Whatever you have

been through or encountered in the past will not change my feelings for you."

Anna froze, and then quickly realized that his words had a deeper meaning.

Anna was aware that he had misunderstood her, but she felt she had no way of explaining it.

After a long pause, Anna asked, "Have you ever considered that everyone wears a disguise? So, what if you find out that I'm also wearing a disguise?"

"What's the problem with that? Are you trying to keep something from me?" Wayne inquired softly as if he was joking

Anna knew he was the last person on the planet who could c***k a joke.

"Most truths are harsh and unpleasant. So, what if I'm not the woman you think I am?"

"No, you're wrong. Actually, I know you and your true self"

"Why are you so certain of that?"

"Because your greatest virtue is honesty. Apart from that, I don't believe you have any other merit."

Anna was initially flattered but then she became very irritated after hearing all of his words.

She thought, Wayne, /knew you wouldn't possibly say nice things out of the blue. I thought you were being sweet, but your words turned out to be sugar-coated bombs.

Anna paused for a moment before bending her knee and kicking Wayne hard.

Then Wayne fell to the ground with a heavy "thud" and let out a muffled grunt of pain. "Anna! Why did you do this to me?" With a cold gasp, Wayne held his back and looked at her. Anna turned away from him and wrapped herself in the covers.

"Well, being honest is my only merit; that's what you said. And I was just doing what I wanted to do," she grumbled.

Wayne froze for a moment after hearing her words. He sat on the floor, looked at Anna's back, and laughed.

He knew she was upset. Still, he found that Anna was so cute even when she was upset and angry and he wanted to tease her on purpose.

Anna and Andrew went to the factory where they were working in the morning to see how things were going.

Following a spot check of the shipment, Andrew clapped his hands and said, "So, I double-checked the clothes and believe that they are satisfactory. I had some of the clothes redone because they weren't up to par. The last batch of clothes will be finished tonight. Then I'll have them deliver them to the Joan Group warehouse."

Anna said, looking at the clothes piled up in the corer, "There's still a lot of clothes here. How about we send the ones that are finished to the Joan Group first? I'm concerned that too many clothes will be piled up here at night. Why don't we send them to our warehouse?"

Andrew replied thoughtfully, "No, I don't think that's necessary. I still want to check the quality with the team before finally sending the goods to them. I'm worried that something might go wrong. You know, the shipping and warehouse storage fees are very affordable."

Anna paused for a moment. Despite her concern, she nodded and said, "OK, you're right, we should check a few more times." Andrew then started to read the goods list. After a while, he looked up and said, "By the way, Mona just called me. She asked me to remind you that you're going to have dinner with the people from Joan Group tonight. Well, it sounds like she doesn't want you to go there. What's going

on?"

When she thought about that, Anna became enraged and exclaimed, "Because Richard will be there! He's a total jerk! I've seen him at many social events since we started working with the Joan Group. Well, I think he is deliberately showing off the fact that he knows a lot of people, which pisses me off"

"Ah, I see. Did he harass you?"

Anna smirked and said, "No. In that case, I would have called the cops to deal with the situation. But he was attempting to speak with me about the acquisition."

"What? Does he want to buy Lemon?"

Anna shook her head, "No, it's the Gabriel Group that he's after. Let me tell you, this man is very ambitious. I believe he's attempting to impress Peter by accomplishing something. So, he plans to attack my family's group"

"I don't get it In this city, there are many other medium-sized businesses like Gabriel Group. And I believe that there are a lot of them Who want to be purchased by the Carousel Group. So, why did he choose yours?"

Anna smirked and said, "I believe that it has something to do with Wayne. You see, Wayne is now in charge of the finance department. So Richard purposefully tried to embarrass him. Hasn't he already kicked Wayne out of the Wright group? He's only doing this to humiliate Wayne and, by the way, to show Peter how much better he is than him."

After hearing her words, Andrew concluded that things were much more complicated than he thought. He became less worried after seeing how calm Anna appeared.

And he said, "Oh, you don't seem concerned about it. Do you already have a plan in place to deal with it?"

"Yes. He's got his ways, and I've got mine."
