I couldn't breathe as Zane tried to calm me down. Everything was numb and I felt cold...so cold.

Just breathe, Aiden.

In.

Out.

It was like I was in the past again reliving that dreadful night.

"Shh love, it's all going to be okay," Zane whispered once again. "Look at me, sweet boy."

"No, it's not. She's never going to recover from this. Not after he did it again." I croaked out tears brimming my eyes. "Aiden," Zane ordered. "I need you to look at me. Good, now breathe with me. In. Out. Again. That's a good boy." Breathe, Aiden.

Just breathe.

In.

Out. In. Out.

"I-I'm okay now, but I need to tell you something. I need you to promise it's just between us. Please, just promise you won't tell a soul." I looked up as he held my face in his hands.

"I promise, Aiden. What is it you need to tell me?" He asked.

"I'm the son you've read about in the papers. I'm the Senator's son, and I'm wanted for a murder I never committed. My brother...h-he killed him, and now he's after my best friend. All this is all my fault. I'm the reason Melanie was raped. My brother, Caleb wanted to send a message. Now, I've got to find a way to fix this, so he doesn't do it to anyone else."

It felt good to tell someone about my past. For some reason, I felt like I could trust Zane. He had this sense of protector vibe coming off him ever since I met him.

"Oh shit, you're that son. Listen to me, you need to sit down with Giovanni and tell him everything. Don't leave anything out. He can help you."

"Help me, how is a club owner going to help me?" I scoffed rolling my eyes.

"You have no idea what the name Giovanni Lucchese means? Sweet boy, he is the former Italian boss of the underworld. Now that his daughter is married and expecting, Lucien Genovese is in charge. The person you need to speak to is Giovanni and he'll take care of everything. I can call him and tell him to come here, so you don't have to leave her alone. Just say the word."

"I...I trust you, call him." Zane pulled out his phone and shot what I presumed to be a text and nodded.

About fifteen minutes later, I was sitting down with Zane and Giovanni in my living room. I told them both everything, even the part about Matt excluding the part about me and him being romantically involved. He waited until I was finished and pulled out his cigarettes and held one out to me.

"Sure." I took the cigarette and allowed him to light it for me.

"So, that woman in there is the one he forced himself on? Is she your girlfriend?" He asked.

"No, just my best friend. We did date back in high school a long time ago." I wasn't ready for him to know my darkest secret yet.

That I was attracted to men.

Only a few people knew that. Melanie and Kade. Now Zane.

"Let me make some calls and I'll get back to you. I'm assuming Zane filled you in on who I am." Giovanni raised an eyebrow, cocking his head.

"Yes," I replied putting the cigarette out in the tray.

"And you're not scared?" He pushed further.

"I've already been to hell and back, so no, I'm not scared."

"Good, I admire you. Maybe I should have you as one of Lucien's men, instead of a dancer. We'll talk about that another time, though. Why don't you take the rest of the week off and take care of your friend? I'll have someone bring her some clothes. Size?"

"I'm not sure. I'd say about a five by the looks of her."

It had been a few years since I've seen her. She used to be a size eight but has lost some weight.

After everyone left, I was finally calmed down enough to walk back to my room. It broke my heart seeing her like this. I slid in next to her and pulled her to my chest. "I'm so fucking sorry, darlin'. I should have never left you there." "Aiden, where am I?" She asked.

"My place, I'm sorry this happened to you." I kissed her forehead and held her tighter.

"You've been smoking again." She mused.

"Sorry, but after tonight I needed it."

Melanie was always a good girl when we were in school. She was so innocent and sweet, but she too had a secret. It's why we were always best friends. Like me, she was attracted to women but also men. She was bi-sexual. Ever since I could remember, she was different than the other girls. And that is why Melanie and I remained best friends.

Two of a kind.

"Did I hear a man's voice earlier?" She smiled knowingly.

"One was my boss."

"And the other?"

"Just a friend, Mel. Just someone helping me deal with all the pain." I said truthfully.

"But there is someone you have you're eyes on. Aiden, I know that look and you are smitten with someone. I know you like the back of my hand, and you have taken a liking to someone." "Yes, but I'm not sure if he is like me. I've seen him with a woman a few times."

Was Frankie attracted to men like me, or was I picking up the wrong vibes when he served me that whiskey?

A knock at the door caused her to freeze up and tremble. "It's okay, my boss is sending someone to bring you some clothes. I'll be right back."

I opened the door to see Zane holding a few bags in his hands. "They should fit. They belonged to Giovanni's daughter."

"Thanks for this." I grabbed the bags but he pulled me to him.

"You want me to stay?" He asked brushing his lips against my neck.

"You don't have to, but I'd like that." The bags slipped from my hands as we embraced each other. This wasn't a relationship, but I just needed someone to make me forget.

Just as we were about to kiss, I heard Melanie say. "Oh, I'm sorry. I'll leave you two alone."

"Hi, you must be the woman who had this poor guy worried out of his mind. I'm Zane." He gave her a small smile.

"I'm Melanie, it's a pleasure to meet you."

Maybe things weren't going to be so bad after all.

I had the two people I trusted with me.

Look out Caleb, I'm fucking coming for you very soon.
