Fated To Roman: The Almighty Alpha -
Fifteen
Cleo's POV
How had I not noticed the signs before now? Thinking back to when I first opened her door, I should have known something wasn't right. Sure Daphne was grieving, but never in this life time would she have ever considered self-harming. She was far too strong for that which made me feel like an even bigger idiot.
"Who I am doesn't matter. Why I'm here however..." Without giving her the chance to finish her sentence, I made a beeline for the bedroom door. Only I hadn't been expecting what happened next. My sister... the person that looked like her appeared out of thin fucking air right before my eyes. "I'm guessing you won't be coming quietly then. Never mind this way is much more fun" A fireball formed in her hand as I began to back away, an evil smile spread across her face. Whoever this sadistic bitch was could have all the fun she wanted, but I sure as hell wasn't going down without a fight.
"Where is my sister?" Keeping my voice strong I stood my ground dodging the flaming ball she threw at me.
"Daphne, poor fragile little Daphne. Some hottie, the packs beta, he took her to the hospital. She really wasn't in a good way." The menacing growl that left me had the imposter smiling. She wasn't afraid of me just as I wasn't of her. Extending my claws, I lunged forwards aiming them directly at her throat, only she disappeared before reappearing behind me. Failing to turn around in time I was sent flying by another fire ball.
"Fuck" I muttered as I looked at my blistering hand. "What do you want with me?"
"Me? Personally, I want nothing to do with you. Had you been a pure wolf I would have held a smidgen of respect for you, but you are nothing more than a mongrel. That being said, you have been summoned by a greater power. Tall, dark and knock me sideways sexy. Ringing any bells?"
"Hades"
"Ding, ding, and we have a winner. Your father is in need of your assistance. So, you either come with me, or your sister will meet an early demise. I can't kill you, but her I can"
"Fine... let her go and I will come with you" I watched in shock as the woman posing as my sister shifted into someone else. Her hair lightened as it went from dark to blonde, her eyes changing from brown to black. That's when it registered. She was another demon. Extending her hand to me she smiled. Sure, I'd play along for now, but once I had my sister we would be leaving. There was no way in hell I would be helping my sperm doner of a father with anything.
"Cleo, wake up" My eyelids fluttered open as someone whispered my name. It took a while for my vision to clear up, bloody demon must have given me something. "Cleo" Turning my head I saw Daphne sitting against the wall. "Like fuck am I falling for that again you demonic bitch" Pushing myself onto my knees I looked around only to find us in some kind of cave.
"Falling for what? Are you ok?"
"How do I know it's really you?"
"What?"
"Tell me something that only we would know?" "Cleo..."
"No, if you want me to believe that you are in fact Daphne then tell me something that only we would know." I waited anxiously for her to answer. I wanted so badly to believe that this was my sister and not just another trick, but I had already been fooled once and I'd be damned if it would happen again. "When you lost your virginity to Lewis you cried afterwards because you thought your mate would no longer want you" Letting go of the breath I had been holding, my shoulders dropped with relief. "So... what the hell is going on?"

"Basically, Roman bought me to your room because he said you hadn't been eating or taking your pain meds. I thought you had self-harmed, got you cleaned up only to realise it wasn't you" "After he marked you I'm assuming" My hands instinctively went to the mark that sat on my neck. My heartbeat calming as I trailed my fingers along the healed edge. "Have you ma... you did, didn't you! For fucks sake Cleo!" "What? It wasn't like that. Roman marked me because I nearly died. The amount of rogue toxin in my blood was too much for even Freya to fight. We spent the night talking and I fell for him ok. I fell for my mate. It's not like I could have rejected him anyway. When you find your mate and feel those sparks, you'll understand." Anger bubbled in the pits of my stomach at having to defend my reasoning to my sister. Couldn't she just be happy for me?
"We ran Cleo! We uprooted our entire lives just so he wouldn't be able to find you. Then when he does, he tells you what you want to hear and you fucking fall over backwards to be with him. What the hell was you thinking?" "I was thinking that maybe Agatha interpreted her vison wrong. That maybe, just maybe I would be able to live happily. To be with the person that was fated to me for a reason and have him actually love me. Not just some guy that wants to have his way with a piece of ass, but the guy that would want me even if I didn't put out."
"Cleo... I'm sorry ok. I don't like being in dark creepy places and I guess I'm just worried that you're going to ride off into the sunset with him and forget all about me. Your all I've got left and I don't want to lose you." "Not without you I wouldn't. Ride or die remember." Shuffling over to her, Daphne rested her head on my shoulder while squeezing my hand.
"That means you can mind link Roman and tell him where we are"
"I've already tried. When I realised she wasn't you, I tried to reach out to him but nothing. I don't think it had to do with him blocking me either before you say anything."

"Have you tried since? Maybe without the demon present you can." Honestly I hadn't tried so she certainly had a point. Closing my eyes and picturing Roman's face the mark on my neck began to heat up. "Erm Cleo..." Pushing Daphne's voice away I allowed myself to remember everything about Roman. His beautiful mismatched eyes, that tussled blonde hair and those plump lips. Using the image I had built I focused on calling to him.
'Roman... Can you hear me?' The mark on my neck grew hotter and hotter the harder I tried to force the link to open.
'Cleo where are you?' Even without him standing in front of I could tell he was both pissed off and worried.
'I have no idea. We are in some kind of cave' Picturing the cave and Daphne in chains I sent Roman a mental image. 'How the fuck did you do that? You know what never mind. I will come for you'
Roman's POV
The mark on my neck began to heat up until a sharp pain rippled through me causing me to drop to my knees. A pressure formed in my head had Balthazar growling as he tried to push it back. Kai knelt down beside me his head tilting to the side as he glanced at my mark. The look in his eyes told me something wasn't right. Forcing myself to my feet I walked to the end of the hallway to where the mirror hung on the wall. My own eyes widened as I watched the crescent moon glow a bright red. Running my fingers along the scabbed over edges I hissed as it burnt me.
'It's our mate. She's trying to contact us. I think that's what that pressure was, and I sent it back.' Balthazar whined as he realised not only was his mate in trouble, but that when she did call on us, he rejected her.
Suddenly that pressure came back, only this time instead of fighting it I let it in. That's when I heard her. Her soft yet loud voice that I had come to love echoed in my mind as she called out for me. She told me she and her sister were in a cave which was confirmed by the mental image she sent me. Only she also sent me something strange. It had to have been because of her demon side. The side she thought to have been bind, only now I wasn't so sure. What if she hadn't been stopped from accessing that part of herself as she originally thought? What if instead that side only lie dormant until needed?
Not only had Cleo shown me the cave in which she was situated, but she had also used her bond to act as a beacon. I couldn't explain it, but I felt as though I knew exactly where to go. After assuring Cleo I was on my way I told her to keep me updated with anything and everything. I knew she wasn't the damsel in distress kind of woman, she wasn't weak by any means. But that wouldn't stop me saving her. She was my mate, and only over my dead would I allow any harm to come to her.
