Third Person

Atlas and Wes enjoyed the sound of bones cracking and the feeling of skin getting stripped apart from the bodies of the piece of shits who thought they could get away with hurting Suri. They had no idea what was coming to them.

The second the two saw their target, everything else didn't matter. Their eyes had turned black and all they could see was red, literally and figuratively.

Blood was spraying everywhere.

Atlas had slashed a man's neck while Wes sliced somebody in half. Two down, two to go.

But they would do it over and over again just to feel the satisfaction of hurting the people who hurt what's theirs.

There was so much rage, so much resentment at the men and at the same time, at themselves as well for the situation that had arisen. They hated with their entire existence these four filthy bastards that laid a finger on Suri, but they hated themselves, too. Because if they had just been watching her, protecting her, then none of this would have happened.

The hate translated into everything they did. The loud growls that rumbled off of their chests. Their claws dug into the men's bodies. Their fangs shredded each one of them until there was nothing left, but blood. Lots and lots of blood.

Both Titan and Jackal were satisfied, standing there under the full moon, and drenched in blood.

They let out a loud howl and moments later, they felt their heartbeats starting to calm down and they began to shift back into human form. Bones cracking, limbs rearranging, and skin turning back to normal.

When it was done, they laid completely naked on the grass as they stared up at the night sky, the big bright moon shining down on them.

"F**k..." Wes said with a loud exhale as he momentarily closed his eyes.

Both their adrenaline rush was now coming down, and with everything they did, it felt like their bodies were slightly crashing. Their heartbeats are trying to get back into a normal pace.

"Is Suri okay?" Atlas mind linked with Dev and once they got reassurance that she was safely en route back to her room, both brothers could finally relax.

"This was so f****d up." Wes commented as he turned to his brother who was somewhat staring mindlessly at the sky.

Atlas was still reeling in what happened just minutes ago. He hadn't expected things to turn out this way, but what bothered him the most was how they had let Suri get hurt, and how they could have almost lost her. This triggered something in him that he could not explain, and a tear fell down his cheek.

"f**k, are you crying? Jesus H. Christ, Atlas bloody Wolfe is crying. We really are all sorts of f****d up, huh?" Wes commented, using humor to mask the unsettledness he was also feeling.

Deep down inside, he felt the exact same way as Atlas. He just chose not to say it out loud, scared that if he did, it really would become true.

But neither of them could no longer escape it, because this was now their reality.

And when the fireworks lit up the night sky, that was when they both realized exactly that.

"Mate!"

Atlas and Wes turned to each other with eyes as wide as saucers and their hearts back to beating a mile a minute.

They scrambled up off the ground and rushed to get to their clothes they had managed to take off before they got ripped to shreds.

"Keith, 911 clean up. Edge of the resort by the trees." Atlas said as soon as Keith picked up at the first ring.

"And Suri?" Keith asked with worry.

He had been pacing in his room back and forth, but he knew that he could trust the boys to take care of everything. They would never let anything bad happen to her. At least, as much as they could. He sensed it then and he also noticed it, too. The way all three of them connected with Suri.

They would become inseparable, and he would do everything to keep all four of them safe.

They were his life now, his whole heart.

"Safe. She's with Devon. Thanks, Keith." Atlas said before hanging up.

Both Atlas and Wes didn't exchange a single word as they made their way to Suri's room. They were both lost in their own thoughts and worries.

The people they passed by were greeting them with a happy birthday, congratulating them, but they were all ignored as if they didn't even exist in the first place. Nothing and nobody mattered to them aside from getting to Suri.

Getting to their mate.

Atlas almost tore down the door of the room because the key card wouldn't work again when they got there.

"For f**k's sake, you were using the wrong key." Wes said after realizing they had switched it up again.

Atlas shot his brother a glare. "Remind me to tell the f*****g owner of this place to fix their goddamn keys."

When they finally got inside, they were relieved to see Suri in bed and seemingly at peace. The relief that coursed through each of them was pivotal.

A second later, Devon came out of the bathroom looking gloomy.

"What's wrong?"

He shook his head, as he willed himself to speak. Suri's words echoing in his head over and over again.

Monsters. They were monsters to her.

"Devon! Tell us what's wrong!" Atlas raised his voice as he got impatient, prompting Wes to hit him in the back of his head.

"Shut up, you moron. You'll wake her up. Let's talk outside."

The three of them were slightly hesitant to leave Suri all alone again, but they reassured themselves that they would just be right outside the door. "She's our-"

"Mate. We know she's our fated mate. f**k, we know way too damn well." Atlas exclaimed as he pushed his hair back in frustration and confusion.

He was the only one amongst the three that still had a lingering denial in him, but now it was obvious he could no longer turn away from it. The want for her. The need for her was too strong.

Just them being a few feet away from her was already too much for them to bear. They yearned for her like she was their lifeline. Their wolves whined to mark their mate, but they knew it wasn't that simple.

Of course, nothing in their lives ever was.

"We can't tell Keith," Atlas spoke.

"What? Why?" Devon turned to him confused.

"Because he might think this is too dangerous, that we're too dangerous for her, and he'll be forced to keep her away from us. I can't handle that." "We can't handle that," Wes corrected and they all nodded their heads slowly.

Each brother too deep in their own minds.

This wasn't how they were expecting to find out. They could barely even focus on the bond because it was overpowered by their worry for Suri. Their worry that she was now really part of their world... and the uncertainties that came with it.

They had known it back then, too, but living in it now, they suddenly felt... helpless.

But they knew they didn't have the luxury to feel helpless. Not when it came to Suri, because they would die protecting her.

"She thought we were monsters..." Devon finally confessed, his head looking down at the floor as his heart broke, remembering what she said and the way she looked so terrified saying it.

Atlas and Wes remained silent as they lamented Devon's words and they too felt broken by it. Granted, it was a normal reaction from a human, but they still couldn't process it coming from her. They desperately wish it hadn't.

"What now?" Devon broke the stiff silence in the room.

"We will wait," Atlas said.

"For what?" Wes turned to his brother with furrowed brows.

Atlas wasn't sure either. Hell, he wasn't sure about anything now.

Haven't they waited long enough, they all thought. All they wanted was to mark her, to make her theirs, but this was exactly what they were dreading. That having Suri as their mate wasn't just going to be a walk in the park because there were a lot of things to consider.

One, she couldn't know who they really were.

And two, how the hell are all three of them going to date one girl?

It was bound to come up sooner or later, but now that it was really happening, they realized they hadn't thoroughly thought about what their relationship with each other was really going to be like.

"We wait for Suri," Atlas finally said.

Because if there was anyone in this room that could do anything, it was none other than her.

They couldn't just do what they wanted with her. They couldn't just tell her who they were and introduce her to a world she would obviously not understand.

All they could do was wait.

And hope that she could feel the same way they felt about her, with or without the mate bond in her case.

But deep down, each brother had one thought circling in their minds over and over again.

If she could choose only one of us, would she pick me?
