Fated To The Lycan Brothers -
Chapter 86
Devon Wolfe
From the moment Suri walked into that door and into our lives, all widened eyes and hopeful smile, none of us could stay away from her.
We told ourselves lies. Lies that she didn't belong here, that we should do everything to kick her out, that she was trouble. We lied to ourselves because none of us was willing to admit the truth: We needed Suri like the oxygen we needed to breathe. And now... now that she was gone... everything was all wrong again.
And it terrifies me to think that what I've been scared of the most has happened. That us being dangerous had finally caught up to her and it was our fault she was gone.
"Find her!" Keith shouted from his office and a few seconds later, a group of people scrambled out of it looking petrified. They looked to be his set of personal investigators.
When I stepped forward to get a look at him, he was sitting at the edge of his table, tie loosened, and shirt all wrinkled. The usually calm and collected Keith was far from it now. Just as we all were since Suri didn't show up at the house six hours ago.
I was at training when I got a mindlink from Atlas, and I knew instantly something was wrong because I felt it.
He asked me if I was with her, but he already knew the answer to that. He knew I wasn't, but he was hoping otherwise because it would have been a better outcome.
Atlas said he texted Suri to meet up during the first break, but she didn't show, and though he got worried right after that, he figured she had just gotten busy. She was in the honor class after all.
But when she didn't show up nor reply to any of his texts after classes, that's when he began to feel something was terribly wrong.
We didn't want to worry Keith at first so it was us three that tried to look for her. Tension rose like crazy and at one point Atlas and Wes almost ended up ripping each other's heads off.
"What do you mean she's gone?!" Wes came out to the academy's parking lot, hair disheveled and his shirt inside out. He must have just finished his football training and rushed out of here without a single thought after he got the link.
Atlas stopped pacing back and forth at the academy's parking lot then turned to Wes. "I mean classes are over and we were supposed to go home together, but she hasn't been answering any of my texts and she's not here."
He talked in a leveled tone, but I know deep down he wants to murder anyone involved in Suri's disappearance. I mean, I do, too, but letting anger win during a time like this won't benefit any of us. It would just cloud our judgements and thinking and in turn make figuring out where Suri went harder.
Wes did not think the same as he quickly lunged towards Atlas, grabbing him by his collar, and pushing him against his car. "What the fuck did you do, Atlas?!" He growled at him.
"Fuck you! I didn't do anything!" Atlas retaliated, hitting Wes' arms to let him go, but when Wes didn't loosen his hold, he gave him a dark glare.
"Let me fucking go," he threatened.
Wes shook his head before stepping backwards, but his eyes were still filled with rage. "You must have done or said something to her to make her leave. You were the last one with her, a*****e."
"What makes you think I would have done anything remotely close to wanting her to leave? And what makes you so sure she did leave on her own accord? She could have been taken by, I don't know, your old fuck buddies."
This didn't go over too well with Wes and he stomped forward Atlas again.
"It's not them," he said with a hard tone as he poked Atlas on his chest and bore his eyes through him. "I know because my tech guy has been following everything about their families online. They're tracking their every movement because I was scared that they would retaliate so I needed a safety net. If any of them did plan to take her, a transaction would have shown up, but nothing did. I'm not saying we should eliminate that possibility, but chances aren't likely."
Atlas got quiet and I too began to think. I gave them their space because I know they needed to let their steam out first so I stood at the side, but we really need to figure this shit out now.
"Tell us everything that happened when you dropped her off at her class," I told Atlas and he still looked on edge, but he was willing to do whatever it takes to get Suri back.
We all were.
"Wait, that's it? She said 'see you', didn't she? She wasn't at all, like, acting different or anything?" I asked Atlas after he finished telling us what had happened, and Wes and I were completely mind boggled because nothing seemed out of the ordinary. "No, I told you, she was fine. She was still smiling and happy about what we did to Stefanie and her friends and fuck, I swear I don't know what the hell happened! I'm calling her again!" Atlas cursed as he took his phone and clicked the speed dial. "The mailbox is full and cannot accept any more messages at this time. Goodbye."
"God damn it!" Atlas growled as he almost threw his phone onto the ground.
"It doesn't make any sense..." Wes muttered under his breath as he was shaking his head.
And he was right. It didn't.
"We have to get footage from the academy's cameras. We can check where she was last and what exactly happened to her." I told the two and they quickly agreed.
"I'll call my guy," Wes said before pulling his phone out, and a few minutes later, all the footage we needed had been sent to his phone.
"He may be annoying as hell, but bless that annoying fucker for being damn good at his job." Atlas commented and we all thoroughly agreed.
When Wes plays it from his phone, we see Suri and Atlas beside her classroom and suddenly he goes down to kiss her.
"Really? Making out right there?" I raised a brow at him.
"You're just jealous," he answered and we scoffed at each other.
"She's not exhibiting signs of wanting to leave or being uncomfortable..." I said as we kept replaying that part and every time I wish I was able to kiss her before... all this.
Damn it, not the time to be thinking negatively. It's not like I won't ever see her again. This is just a little bump on the road and she'll be back before we know it and I can kiss the fuck out of her as much as I want. "I told you. She was completely normal." Atlas exclaimed.
Now we were all even more confused.
What could have happened to her during that time we were away?
"Fast forward it to when her class ends," I told Wes and he moved the player, slowly, slowly, until...
"There! The bell just rang." Atlas pointed out and our eyes stared widely at the tiny screen.
"Wait, why hasn't she come out? Everyone's already gone out of the room?" Wes asked and he was right. It's been five minutes since the bell rang, but she still hasn't come outside.
Does that mean... she could have been taken?! Fuck!
"No, wait! There she is!" Wes suddenly said and Suri did suddenly show up, but there was something different about her now.
She was obviously more fidgety, turning her head left and right and even with the video resolution not so exceptional, all of us could tell she was looking stressed.
When Wes looked at the other footage where Suri was present, we found out she went to the bathroom, took some time there, then walked out of the academy. She never came back after that.
It was clear that something had happened during her class and we needed to figure out what the hell it was.
"Who was in her class? We have to ask them," Wes pointed out and we all agreed.
"Fuck..." Atlas cursed under his breath.
"What? What is it?"
He pushed his hair back in frustration before letting out a deep exhale. "Emily and Destiny. They're her classmates."
Well fuck is right.
"Emily won't talk to me. She's avoiding me like the plague. You need to try and get Destiny to talk to you." Atlas said with a slight frown because he knows that this is going to be difficult for me, but whatever it is, I have to do it for Suri. "Okay. Wait for me here. I'll be back as soon as I can."
Then I began my walk to the academy dorms where I knew Destiny would be.
The place was a fortress. Guards surrounded it like the damn president lived here, but her security had known me for years since we did hang out often. I was expecting to pass by them in a breeze, but I was sorely mistaken when I was stopped by one of them. He looked me up and down, arms crossed in front of his chest, and an unamused expression on his face.
"Your entry is denied."
"I haven't even told you who I am."
He scoffed. "Don't need to. Princess Destiny has banned any Wolfe from entering these premises. Turn around and walk away."
Fuck. I can't turn around! She's the only person who can help us find out what really happened to Suri.
"Tell her I need to see her. It's an emergency." I told her security and he merely looked at me like I was a waste of space.
"I'm not telling her shit. Leave or I'll make you, Wolfe."
God damn it, I really don't want to have to use force, but I will if I have-
"Let him pass, Carson." The voice said and Destiny walked up from behind.
The man who was apparently Carson glared at me before stepping to the side and letting me pass.
"Thanks..." I said to Destiny and she shook her head at me.
"Whatever, I just didn't want you getting ripped apart by my security. Now what do you want? Why are you here? Weren't you the one that said you had somebody else, so what are you doing talking to me?" Destiny exclaimed with an obvious bitterness in her tone as she made sure not to look at me.
"Look, I wouldn't be here if I didn't need your help. You were in the same class as Suri this morning, weren't you?"
That question made her turn to me quickly and there was annoyance in her eyes.
"Seriously? Oh my god, Suri this, Suri that. Ever since she arrived, she's all you've cared about! Is that why you broke up with me? Because of Suri?!" Destiny shrieked and her guards all turned to me, giving me death glares which I ignored.
"She's family, Destiny, and you know this." I told her and she was just looking at me, anger circling in her eyes and after a few seconds, she turned away and pulled her phone out.
"I don't know what's wrong with her, but there was a video in class that one of our classmates shared and after she saw it, she just freaked out. It was just something they caught during your weekend party." She said as she was scrolling, eyes on her screen. "What do you mean... caught during our weekend party?"
That didn't sound good at all.
Destiny rolled her eyes at me before putting her phone out for me to take. "It means exactly what I said. Apparently the dude who caught this, our classmate, was frolicking away from everyone while he was high then he heard growls. He thought it was his drugs kicking in, but the video proved otherwise. Watch it and see for yourself. I for one barely saw anything, so I don't know what Suri's problem was."
Shit, shit, shit.
I don't have to see it to know what she's talking about, but god damn it, I needed to know what exactly Suri saw. Nervously, I looked down and clicked play.
It was dark and blurry, but you could hear the growls and the sound of the men screaming. There was barely two seconds of actual viewable footage on it, but that two seconds was enough for anyone who was there to figure out what they were looking at. It was Atlas, or rather, Titan, holding one of the men up while he ripped his arm off. That part wasn't visible in the video, but the millisecond where the light showed a black beast with red eyes was enough for me to remember what happened then. That only means...
Suri remembered too.
She ran away because she figured out we were those same monsters that she was so afraid of.
Fuck... what are we supposed to do now?
