Or else he'll be the one carrying supermarket bags all the time. Every day, she'll go to work with a supermarket bag, always ready for him! She happily imagined Charlie bustling around the office with shopping bags, and she couldn't help but laugh.

"What are you laughing at?" Charlie looked at her coldly.

Startled by her own laughter, Emily quickly covered her mouth. Seeing Charlie's indifferent gaze, she shook her head innocently.

Charlie watched her for a while, then turned his head away.

Emily dared not laugh anymore. She lowered her hand and turned her head to look out the car window.

Back on the 39th floor, Tracy was still not back. Emily glanced at the time, returned to the kitchen, and quickly began to prepare lunch. Sitting at the dining table, Charlie suddenly spoke, "Just make two dishes today!"

"One meat and one veggie, okay?" Emily asked over her shoulder.

Charlie nodded, "You decide."

"Okay!" Emily agreed, then turned back and started to get busy.

Although pressed for time, Emily worked methodically.

"Have you been cooking for yourself these past two years?" Charlie watched her, more adept than before, and couldn't help asking.

Emily nodded. "Yes, the first year where I lived, the landlady loved my cooking. So, I cooked for her every night, and she even waived my rent." Hearing her casual tone, Charlie felt somewhat annoyed. "What about the second year?"

"The second year, Estelle often came to see me, so I moved into Manley's house. We all lived together, and I cooked when I was free." Charlie squinted. "Manley and Estelle live together in Oakdale City?"

"No!" Emily quickly shook her head. "Manley likes Estelle, but she hasn't accepted him."

Charlie nodded. His phone rang, and he went to the next room to answer it.

By the time he returned, Emily had finished cooking.

Charlie glanced at the food and said nonchalantly, "Not bad; at least you didn't slack off."

She wouldn't dare slack off on him, Emily thought to herself.

She quickly served him some food and handed him a fork and spoon, saying, "You start eating; the soup will be ready soon."

Seeing that she didn't serve herself, Charlie frowned and asked, "What about you? Aren't you eating?"

"It's okay, I only made two dishes." Emily said.

"Two dishes are enough. Come and eat; don't say I'm mistreating you on my first day at the office!" Charlie's voice was cold and commanding. After Charlie finished speaking and saw Emily not responding, he sneered, "You don't really think that, do you? Not willing to cook for me?" "No!" Emily immediately shook her head.

"Don't worry, I won't let you cook for free. I'll add the cost of the meals to your salary!"

Emily became even more embarrassed. "Really, it's not necessary. Being able to do more for you is like a little compensation."

Charlie looked at her and said, "We'll discuss this after lunch!"

Emily served herself a bowl of rice and sat across from Charlie.
