A week later, the whole ordeal gradually cooled down, replaced by the heat of the news about another pair of celebrities secretly getting married and having a baby.

Sallie would often ring Estelle, filling her in on what was happening with the MacClain family.

So, Estelle didn't have to make an effort to keep tabs on her family matters.

For instance, Carmella was already discharged from the hospital but has reportedly suffered some mental trauma. She's become depressed, afraid of people, and physically very frail. Simone was on the hunt for a shrink for her.

To pay off the compensation money, Bennett had no choice but to sell two of his companies and clear all of Carmella's debts.

If they didn't pay off the compensation money, Carmella might be sentenced.

Because of this, things at the MacClain Mansion and with Bennett have turned into a real shitshow.

This week, Estelle's parents would frequently call her, their tones incredibly kind and very humble, hoping Estelle would come home.

However, Estelle was ice-cold, giving the excuse of being busy and flat-out refusing.

Jonathan would take Estelle to work every day, even moving the meeting room to his own office to keep an eye on her at all times.

Every time Estelle would sit on the couch drafting designs, the scene of Jonathan holding meetings would be right next to her. Whenever she would occasionally glance over, she would find the executives curiously staring at her, making her feel like a rare animal being gawked at.

She didn't understand why Jonathan was so tense when it was Carmella who screwed up.

The funniest part was Sabina. Every time she saw her, Sabina's expression was hard to decipher. But it was clear that her previous arrogance in front of Estelle seemed to have vanished. Saturday, Estelle went to the Lamont family.

Despite dodging for a week, she ultimately couldn't avoid it.

As Jonathan drove, he gently stroked Estelle's head, "Don't worry, I've got your back."

Estelle grabbed his hand, "So later if your mom has the maid make soup for me again, can you help me drink it?"

"Don't you like it?" Jonathan asked with a laugh.

"It's not that I don't like it. It's just that every time I drink soup, Henson teases me." Estelle sighed.

Jonathan's smile grew wider, "What does he tease you about?"

Estelle raised an eyebrow, and she didn't really want to say.

"If you don't tell me, I'll ask Henson."

"Don't!" Estelle immediately stopped him, took a deep breath, and calmly said, "He said his granny wants to fatten me up so I can give him a cousin."

Jonathan burst into laughter, his eyes full of amusement. He looked at Estelle gently and nodded, "Henson's getting smarter."

Estelle shook off his hand and looked out the car window.

Jonathan's lips curled up slightly. He took Estelle's hand again.

Once they arrived at the Lamont family, Estelle walked in to find Janice sitting in the living room. Seeing them enter, Janice greeted them with a smile, "You're back." Estelle and Jonathan both greeted her.

"Mom has been waiting for you guys all morning, and dad just sent her out!" Janice laughed, "We wanted to have you over for a meal a couple of days ago to celebrate, but Jonathan flatly refused." Estelle apologized, "I'm really sorry for not coming back these past few days!"

"We understand. You've been busy, and it's inconvenient for you to get out." Janice said with a gentle smile.

"I'll take Ella upstairs to tutor Henson first." Jonathan, holding Estelle's hand, was about to head upstairs. "What's the rush?" Janice chided gently, "Are you afraid I'll steal Estelle away?"
